I would like to echo the comments of other reviewers who have noted how the priorities at Twin Farms have shifted from being a unique guest experience to one of expansion and dilution of services to maximize profit.. As a multiple time repeat guest I have been witness to these unfortunate changes, which I first noticed in 2020 when management decreed that house keeping would not be doing laundry "because of covid" even though they didn't bristle at changing the bed sheets. Then came the expansion plans to knock down trees to add more guest cottages and an additional dining room to feed them at the expense of eliminating the charming game room, "Twigs", which was an ode to the founder of Twin Farms, Thurston Twig-Smith. Twin farms also now requires reservations for dinner and encourages tipping (even though advertised as all inclusive). The end result is the transformation of a once charming, personal experience, which had soul to one of a hum drum over priced corporate hotel hatched by private equity. So sad... read more

Phenomenal service and surroundings that leaves you relaxed and clear minded. Staying here is like meditation; you're simply whisked away to a state of mellow bliss. We stayed in an absolutely stunning room, the Treehouse, with a four poster bed, fireplace, and seating area. Lovely! They brought us a local cheese plate for a snack, and they pack your room with all types of wine and snacks to keep you satiated. Meals were non stop and quite filling; gourmet to the highest degree. Hiking and lawn games abound, although an early snow required that we spend more time reading in front of the fire - perfect for us. Overall, an incredible experience if you're looking for relaxation, great cuisine, and light experiences. read more

Punctured a tire on my bike in a cell phone dead zone about 3 miles from Twin Farms. Was walking down the road when a guy driving in the other direction pulled up and offered to help. Turns out it was Skylar, the concierge at TF, on his way to work. He drove me to my house which was a good 20 minutes out of his way. Skylar couldn't have been a nicer guy so I can only image the quality of service at TF with staff like that. Thanks Skylar! read more

We booked our mini honeymoon here based on the reviews here and on TripAdvisor. We stayed from 10/14/2019 to 10/17/2019 Based on the reviews we read we had really high expectations. We found our stay to be great but not quite as over the top as we expected and as the cost would indicate. On the list of pros: the food is amazing, the facility is beautiful, the rooms were awesome. And anything we asked for was provided. There are loads of activities to participate in and we filled our time up well. We enjoyed a hike, bike ride to town, where we didn't even have to ride back, a day of site seeing, and truly amazing meals. Cons: I didn't find us to receive much in the way of personalized attention. It could be that it was a busy period or that other guests were more demanding. If you call down or find so Someone to bring you something they will handle any request you can think up. But there weren't particularly offers... such as we were sitting outside for a while in a very visible area and it would have been so nice for someone to come By and see if we wanted a drink or a snack... something to that effect but we had to go track down someone in the kitchen to ask for a coffee. I would think for this type of place someone would pop by to see if we needed anything.... or for activities we seeked them out for ourselves but didn't feel encouraged so to speak to try things out. Housekeeping, the room was beautiful and clean, but nothing particularly creative happened... and we have stayed at far less expensive locations with much more customized turndown services. I very much think that the staff here will do anything you ask... but sometimes it is nice for special touches and personalized attention to not be a request and more of a surprise or encouraged. I think we would have enjoyed this all more had we been a little but demanding but that's not really our style so we ended up feeling a little at loose ends rather than on a pampered vacation. All in all it is a beautiful location, And amazing food Over the top amazing food Which was by far the highlight for us both!!!! For us it was a once in a lifetime trip most likely. But I think the service at least as it relates to us wasn't what we expected Maybe my advice would be for other visitors to make sure you ask for everything you need... they will provide anything. The best hotel we have ever stayed at. Everything is included, everything. My wife didn't like the bed, they changed it. My car was dirty, they washed it. We had been traveling for about 10 days before we got there and had a lot of dirty laundry, they washed and ironed it. I wanted a sauvignon blanc with lunch instead of the chardonnay they were serving, they opened a different bottle. I wanted another of the amazing salads they were serving for lunch, they made it. My wife didn't want fish for dinner and I did, no problem. I wanted a big piece of meat one night to have with a bottle of Grange that we were going to drink, no problem. The 4th of July picnic on the lake was great. Eating it, sitting at the same table as Tyra Banks and her boy friend was fun. Everything was beautiful. Everything was taken care of. And they didn't charge extra for internet service, take that St Regis. read more

We did not want to leave! This place was heaven. We stayed in The Aviary, their newest cottage. Two floors, very modern and sleek, a jacuzzi in the bedroom. This cottage was designed by the architect who designed Bill Gate's home. This place is all inclusive. And every meal was better than the one before. We had lobster, duck, turkey, omg. Everything is fresh and scrumptious. The people there are so friendly and down to earth. From our calculations, the staff to guest ratio is probably somewhere around 5:1. Every staff worker there has a genuine love for the property. It was so refreshing to be catered to by people who were sweet and loved their job and Twin Farms. It's very different from staying at a posh hotel in a city - you're always dealing with fake nice workers. We wanted to have a picnic up on the highest point of the property. They trekked up the hill and set up everything for us. We had an amazing view and meal and just walked back down. Someone went up there and retrieved everything for us. They also did our laundry and sent it back wrapped like presents! We borrowed some bikes, and biked around the beautiful property. We stayed out late around the camp fire at the pub and chatted with other travelers. We drank copious amounts of alcohol every night and ate to our hearts delight. One of our most memorable vacations. It is a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny! read more

Twin Farms! There is nothing like it....our fourth stay at this amazing resort/spa. The staff is like non other. Every person is nicer than the next. All inclusive gourmet meals that are personalized to your own likes. The wine flows as the meal advances. The accommodations are all unique themes with the privacy you expect. We now come yearly to celebrate our anniversary in May. Seasonally they have their own ski slope, hiking trails, boating/fishing on private lake, mountain bikes to drive on grounds or to an local town like Woodstock- mostly downhill 9 miles away- they pick you up later in the van after touring this great Vermont Town. The spa offers a menu of treatments and personal massage are available in your room/cottage (both cost extra.) They only shut down for the month of April but are ready to please for all seasons... A Must for those seeking a unique, luxurious getaway that you will never forget....or you may continue to come back as we have to sample all of the amazing cottages..... read more

When deciding to stay at a place with the reputation that Twin Farms has, you walk in with certain expectations. You expect attentive service, top notch food, and amenities that make the price and trip work it. Twin Farms nailed everything. We drove up from Philadelphia and his a massive snow storm that delayed us about 3 hours from our targeted arrival time. Brian from Twin Farms called us at least once to make sure we were good, and upon arrival, greeted us and allowed us to stretch a bit with a tour of the main house. We stayed in a suite in the Farmhouse which has two large fireplaces, and was impeccably well appointed. The art in the building was possibly some of our favorite we've encountered in our travels, and made the stay that much better. The facilities are what all of the guests want to talk about it seems which is a greta compliment to the staff at Twin Farms. Service is what most people judge a place such as this for, and Twin Farms was serious about top flight service. Brian, Amanda, Rebecca, David, Michael....everyone.... we're amazing and made even the most random request a reality. A few times my wife and I were allowed to raid the imported and craft beer stores, and David went out of his way to purchase a whisky that we both like, and I know that wasn't easy for him. Dinner in the main dining area with other people might not seem intimate, but the mood created int he room, plus the arrangement of the seats really created a great atmosphere for not only quite conversation, but relaxed everyone. The food really was the star of our trip for us. My wife and I dine out weekly and really wanted to stay somewhere with the best food, and this was it. From a breakfast menu that had everything for everyone, to lunches that rival dinner in many places, to the multi-course dinners that left you satisfied and talking about that meal hours after. A great combination of service and food is that ordering something for your room, or dining in another building is not a problem. Boxed meals to order were convenient and delicious as were the requests for any of last night's diner leftovers to be delivered to the pub for lunch and billiards. It was all there, and great. Since we stayed at Twin Farms in the snow, we were able to snow shoe and hike parts of the grounds, but we can really see how amazing the place would be in the summer and fall. As far as our time, the downhill skiing wasn't quite ready, but sledding, cross country skiing and the snow shoeing were all available. With the weather we had it made it a great time to just have a fire in the pub, work on a Stave puzzle, and enjoy some wine. We think we'll be heading back this summer to really take advantage of the biking, hiking, fly fishing, and canoeing, but for us hibernating in the snow was awesome. So yeah, that's what's fresh on my mind right now. Twin Farms is what you expect for the price point, but there are so many times that the staff go above and beyond, it's easy to see why Twin Farms ranks among the best in the country. We had an amazing stay. It is an all inclusive resort - all food, drinks (including alcoholic), activities on grounds, transportation to and from the local airport, room service are included. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. What we experienced was beyond our expectations. Staff knew our names before we introduced ourselves. They also knew our food preferences and the dishes came prepared that way without us having to inform anyone. A couple times we spontaneously decided to ask for something to see what would happen. Here's an example out of many we had: After a lunch we asked if we could go out to one of the outdoor fire pits to light it up and enjoy the warmer the usual Vermont weather. When we got there 15 minutes later it was already lit and to our surprise we found a S'mores kit with roasting sticks, dark and milk chocolate bars, graham crackers and marshmallows. It is the kind of place where all you have to do is ask and the staff will try to make it happen. Our first stay at Twin Farms filled with disappointments. First the air conditioning for our room broke down on one the hottest nights of the year causing us to toss and turn in a sleepless night. The next day they agreed to move us to one of the private cottages at no additional cost but we had to physically had to move our own stuff. On our last there we had asked and planned on a romantic dinner at the cottage only to learn they had not been informed by our server. They did respond and brought dinner and gave us a credit for one night but that really didn't make up for a lost romantic dinner. My husband and I spent a relaxing November weekend at Twin Farms to celebrate our 16th anniversary. Our stay in the Aviary cottage was first rate. All the cottages are styled differently and the Aviary is very contemporary, with two levels and floor to ceiling windows. The cottage was clean, very comfortable and filled with all the amenities one could possibly desire, including a bottle of wine with cheese and crackers. I filled out a dietary survey prior to arrival and all of our meals were prepared based on our preferences. I do not eat meat and my husband is gluten and dairy free. Everything was delicious and seemed to be fairly healthy. The wine pairings were spectacular. I must stress that the service is unlike any other and the staff can not do enough for you. My husband called the front desk to see if it would be possible to bring gluten free chocolate chip cookies to our cottage...and ten minutes later warm, delicious cookies were delivered. The grounds are sprawling and well maintained. The service is impeccable and the staff is over the top friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to Twin Farms. read more

I made attempts to contact the reservation manager to ask questions after Twin Farms was highly recommended by a friend. This friend has been to Twin Farms many times. I am exhausted and tired. In need of pampering. However, two weeks ago, I started on my quest to make contact. First I called and the person who answered the phone could not answer my questions. No direct email - only a fill in the blank system. I sent a request for information with all my questions three times. Since I also sent an email to the pr person, I guess the latter is the reason I got a response that theoretically, they did not get my questions. I had noted that they upped their rates by $300/night to $2250 or $700 to $2600 in the two week period which seemed egregious. This said, I got an apologetic response stating that no one received my email/contact questions and could I repeat. Well, at this rate for five nights, one could do very nicely at another place for a long time. I said, three strikes and now you are out. Never, not this place. read more

Truly heaven on Earth. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, curious as to what we were in for, excited to take a break from the city. My expectations were surpassed every step of the way, starting with the booking process. I won't go into great detail, but once the staff was made aware of our special occasion, they did everything in their power to make our stay memorable. They threw in surprises all along the way. A little activity planning, a hands on experience in the kitchen, a visit to town for a holiday parade in one of their loaner luxury vehicles, in-room massages, culinary excellence, room upgrades, ninja-like service, etc. I cannot say enough. Our experience with Twin Farms assisted in the decision to pack up and leave LA for good. We now live just a few miles from this remarkable property and couldn't be happier. I do not know where to begin. Flat out amazing...Hospitality times 1000....ok..at 1500 a night a bit high BUT all inclusive...so if you factor in the meals, you are really looking at 900 a night...had a little fire going one evening, left the room for dinner, came back and wow...the fireplace cleaned out and prep for another fire...just a strike of the match....it is a once in a life time thing for most...but well worth it ...Woodstock VT is very cool place as well...if you go you will blow some money, but when you leave you will also feel you got what you paid for... read more

If you want to get away from "it all" - then this is the place for you. My family of 5 had its own house, complete with a huge living room, covered parking, two bedrooms, two huge bathrooms, etc... But the reason you come to Twin Farms is not for the accommodations, or the fully inclusive over-the-top dining experience at every meal, but rather for the feeling you get of having every need taking care of. We sledded, and the staff was there to shuttle us back up the hill with snowmobiles; we were cold afterwards, and the staff was there with hot chocolate; we wanted snacks and popcorn when we were shooting pool and playing darts in the game room, and the staff brought over the treats. Etc..etc...And you have to do the Japanese Bath House and then open the windows. It is soooo relaxing. Twin Farms is an "experience" and not just a hotel or an accommodation. We just got back from a 3 night visit to Twin Farms last week. It was so amazing and special in every way. I didn't know you could feel so relaxed after just 3 nights! The food is extraordinary (being locals, we can definitely say the best we've had in VT and NH!), and they will customize as you need or like. We asked for healthy food as much as possible and they delivered the most delicious healthy snacks every day to our room - kale chips, beautifully presented fruit plates, veggies and pesto dip, etc. The food is almost all farm-to-table fresh and organic (from two farms literally down the road), which you will discover makes a HUGE difference! The cinnamon rolls in the morning are the best we've ever had. The yoga deck was a great place to stretch in the mornings while listening to the leaves flutter and birds chirping. We had a great time biking, playing tennis, canoeing, fly fishing and hiking. You can ask for anything and Michael and his staff will bend over backwards to make it happen. As locals, we loved that they used local vendors, art, furniture, etc. as much as possible, literally every chair, glass or vase we turned over was from a local favorite artist. It was a luxury first-class experience for sure, but coming here also gives a truly authentic glimpse into life up here in VT. Can't wait to go back with the family during family week! read more

this incredible place is zagat survey's #1 small hotel in the USA, #1 best rooms, #1 best food, #1 best service. no small feat considering no other hotel has captured so many firsts in the same year. and twin farms does it regularly. there are about a million reasons why twin farms is so good, all very carefully thought out and executed. with only 21 "rooms", which are actually uniquely designed and themed cottages filled with original art, twin farms provides the closest thing to a stay with friends on a private estate i have ever experienced. come to think of it, it is exactly the same. you don't check in, you don't check out. they pick you up from wherever you fly into and they drop you off with a gift and a lovely boxed lunch of your choosing when you depart. they press your clothes when you arrive, find you your favorite cocktail whenever you need it and feed you the most wonderfully prepared fresh food you will ever taste wherever you choose to eat it (and there are several options: the terrace overlooking the valley, the pagoda by the lake, the dining room next to the fireplace, somewhere on a picnic blanket hidden away in the trees or in your cottage living room or veranda looking onto the meadows). there are mountain bikes to get around the three hundred acres that you essentially have to yourself and there is fishing and golf whenever you feel the urge. the pub is warm and very well appointed with a great pool table, dart board and old-fashioned juke box, the spa is sublime and there are even a couple of private ski hills seconds from the main farm house, complete with tow bar and black-diamond rating from the US ski association. all i can say is save up and go. the stress falls away as soon as the iron gates open and jay says, "welcome back, andrew". and really, the food may be the best i have ever eaten. it is always unexpectedly different and home made. nearly everything is still growing in the gardens or baked a few minutes before you eat it. here is one thing i can remember: a melon and lime juice shooter with a mint-infused sorbet ball and hot pepper seeds on top. ever had an appetizer like that? nor me. the all-egg-white pancakes are lightly grilled then baked to give them a magical fluffiness that i had never experienced. throw in a mixture of diced fresh exotic fruits and you get a breakfast in bed to stay in bed for. but the service could be the crowning glory. one guest needed marks and spencer briefs because he forgot his underwear. they had them fedexed from the UK the next morning. a bride i was photographing was dressing at 2pm for her 6pm wedding and her shoes were accidentally still in new york (yes, four hours before the wedding). i don't know how they did it, considering US airways is the only carrier to lebanon airport and rarely go anywhere on time, but when the bride asked for her shoes at 5:30, they were placed in her hand by twin farms' manager, who had spent the previous 3.5 hours getting the shop manager in manhattan to fly them up last minute and drive them across the state. the bride had no idea. which is exactly how it should be. read more
