"The Barn" accommodation at Twin Farms
    Thomas B.

Twin Farms! There is nothing like it....our fourth stay at this amazing resort/spa. The staff is like non other. Every person is nicer than the next. All inclusive gourmet meals that are personalized to your own likes. The wine flows as the meal advances. The accommodations are all unique themes with the privacy you expect. We now come yearly to celebrate our anniversary in May. Seasonally they have their own ski slope, hiking trails, boating/fishing on private lake, mountain bikes to drive on grounds or to an local town like Woodstock- mostly downhill 9 miles away- they pick you up later in the van after touring this great Vermont Town. The spa offers a menu of treatments and personal massage are available in your room/cottage (both cost extra.) They only shut down for the month of April but are ready to please for all seasons... A Must for those seeking a unique, luxurious getaway that you will never forget....or you may continue to come back as we have to sample all of the amazing cottages.....

The menu is simple but full of surprises--don't miss the Arancini di Riso or the Wiener Schnitzel, which is the best I've had anywhere. Their farm-inspired cocktail menu is creative and delicious--last night's Rhubarb Margarita was a standout. The staff is warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about creating a great dining experience. This place is something special. Part of me wants to keep it a secret, but they deserve all the support and success.

I was told by a member of the staff that they would not provide it as they had a no cell phone policy. I explained that I wouldn't be calling anyone, but that I had an elderly mother in the Midwest and my boss might need to contact me, but was still told that I wouldn't be allowed to access their guest WiFi. I ordered the steak and was told it would be "medium rare". It arrived well done and I brought it up to the wait staff who told me that usually their steaks were thicker, but that it was medium rare. Photo attached. I asked for them to comp the meal (which I had not eaten and they wouldn't replace) and was told that they wouldn't. Very bizarre experience. Bartender and server were great, but management and chef were not. EDIT: The response by the owner claims I posted a forged photo. Wow! Just wow. Thanks for the response.

And this year was THE YEAR to hit up Vermont for skiing b/c they got more snow than they've gotten in almost a decade--so the skiing was the best east coast skiing I've experienced ever! And, if you're in Vermont skiing, you must drop by Main Mountain Bar & Motel. We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles! They are life-changing! Bottom line = check out this bar if you are in Ludlow, Vermont for skiing at Okemo or just visiting for some other reason. You are sure to love it like we did.

This was a perfect getaway for our anniversary, and the breakfast was so special! Nancy started you out with assorted beverages in their cute custom Maple Leaf Inn ceramic mugs, and a chocolate muffin which was light and not too sweet (best one I've ever had). Next course was a banana with a lemon caramel sauce(delicious). The savory course was a poached egg on top of lentils and roasted tomatoes on top of polenta. We stayed in the Morning Glory room which had a soaking tub for two(I enjoyed this every day) with complimentary herbal bath salts. The bathroom also had radiant floor heating which was a very nice touch on cold Vermont mornings. Our bed had a pillowtop, with amazingly soft silky sheets. I wanted to take them home with me! The room also had a nice flat screen TV with two reclining wing back chairs. Mike and Nancy also offer one complimentary beer or wine every night, which was very nice. Not to mention the library with assorted older books, easy reads, and old romantic movies! Their dog, Beckit also was very fun to play with. The value- I paid 155 for one night (which is also the deposit when you book), and during the week during off peak season you get the second night at 50% off! naturally, we stayed a second night. Who could pass that up? With all the small touches that this place offers, I felt like royalty. This place is seriously like no place I have ever been, they made my fiance and I feel like family, I cant wait to come again!

Tea and coffee was available all day and was definitely a plus because it was freezing. The rooms were clean and attention to detail was fantastic. Comfortable bed. The fireplace in room was great just wish we had enough wood for a morning fire. Quiet setting. We will be back soon!!
