Lots and lots of history here !! I also learned that for here, the "first floor" means one flight up from the lobby, and the "first floor" is NOT on the ground floor nor where the lobby is. Learn something new everyday. In fact, this inn does not appear to have rooms on the ground floor or where the lobby is, but if they do, I just don't know where that would be. The dining room, kitchen and bar appear to be what exists on the main floor. Regardless of all that, our room upstairs was beautifully appointed and spacious, and our king-size bed with its fluffy pillows was so inviting and comfortable. It was beautiful !! We slept so very well. I wish we had booked for more than one night. Our room rate included a warm-cooked breakfast the next morning. For an additional fee, we ate our dinner at the Vic Tavern, as well. (Those will be reviewed under the Vic Tavern.) The owners were very nice and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with them and staying at their inn. We'd come back here in a heartbeat, so if we are ever fortunate enough to return to Vermont, we'd easily return to Woodstock and this lovely B&B.

The decor choices are modern and clean, with a punch of color. The owner is outgoing, and as you engage with him, you get the sense he truly cares about his property. His art background is evident in this funky and cool little place. Walk immediately next door to a sweet little restaurant called Eat Woodstock (name's a little cutesy, but whatever) that serves only breakfast and lunch. We ate there and had a delicious French style omelet, fluffy and fresh. The passionate chef took the time to come out and talk about his cooking methods. Sleep Woodstock and Eat Woodstock are great little finds, which I would highly recommend to anyone looking for cute, convenient, and highly affordable places to stay and eat in the area. I also found out it holds 1 Michelin Key, which is their rating system for hotels/lodging parallel to their famous restaurant ratings. We arrived on Monday (Indigenous Peoples Day) so most people were wrapping up their long weekend. While it was still fairly busy, we never felt it impacted our experience. I was even able to work on a job application! The hotel itself is gorgeous, with many spots to capture mesmerizing photos of nature & people. The rooms are more traditional & country house/cottage style which also fits the aesthetic many young women want on a trip to arguably one of the best New England towns. The hotel is its own landmark/tourist destination as you'll constantly see groups lining up at the front to get a glimpse & small photoshoot session of the iconic facade!

The innkeeper was very friendly and personable and I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area. The main building has four guest quarters on the second floor. We had a HUGE room complete with sitting area, large windows and a spacious adjoining bathroom. The rest of the main building consisted of a large entry room, receiving room with lots of Vermont products for sale, kitchen, dining, game room, and a larger family type room. The whole house was surrounded by deep wrap around porches. There is also a cottage with two additional guest quarters, barns, a screened gazebo, a swimming pond full of frogs, horses, and some additional outbuildings. The property backs up to Quechee Gorge. Breakfast was different and very tasty each day. The first day was a spinach and egg dish, served with granola, fruit, coffee and yogurt. The second day was stuffed baked french toast with the same accompaniments. The innkeeper made reservations for us for dinner the second night we were there, just another great touch. The decor of the rooms was a little more modern than most B&Bs and I rather enjoyed it. Our room was outfitted with two nice leather chairs with ottomans, a substantial king sized bed with white, red and black linens, and some interesting artwork (little pewter and copper figurines on a shelf, etc). Such a nice time, I think we will splurge next summer at full price to get a weekend away here.

Best of all were her delicious homemade breakfast, made with love you could taste! At the end of the trip we felt like we had spent the weekend with family. We will be returning soon!
