Though it would've been nice to have had a view of the Green, the quiet midweek view of Main St was nice. The room was west-facing, so the sun shone in during the afternoons. No matter the setting, the a/c never quite got the room cool; it was a bit warm during the overnight, even after removing the unnecessary blanket from the bed. A few minor housekeeping issues in the room were quickly taken of after a quick call to reception, though turndown wasn't offered until the final night (didn't realize it was even available -- be sure to ask if that's important to you)! The slippers were nice and plush, and bathrobes (didn't use, see temperature note, above) were also available. There was a convenient bedside iHome wireless charger/digital alarm clock; unfortunately, it failed to charge my phone one night. Coffee was available in the lobby hallway every morning, and in the afternoon/evening, cookies!. A Lavazza pod coffeemaker was in the room along with a couple of tea bags as well, but no kettle. The onsite Pine Restaurant was quite popular. Note that folks eat early here; the restaurant was quiet by 8:30 pm (maybe also because it was midweek in summer). The bar area was quite spacious, though, and outdoor seating was available. Easy walk through town, to the Co-op (there was a small drawer refrigerator in the room), for retail shopping, and visiting the Dartmouth College campus (don't miss the Hood Art Museum, open Wed-Sat). Some restaurants in Hanover were also closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and mobile phone service was sparse in town. The free Advance Transit bus service made for easy visits to the King Arthur Bakery & Cafe and for a talk at the Lebanon Opera House.

The hotel also finally sent me a folio which the employees I spoke to previously had refused to send, and I saw that I had been charged $35/day for "valet" parking. Summary below. ---------------- Stayed there in early May 2026 for work, and this hotel added a false $70 charge as "parking" fee, even though I didn't have a car (traveled to Dartmouth by bus) and had never used the parking service. They also refused to send me a receipt for that amount. The first time I called to inquire about the charge, the person who answered the call told me it was a deposit-like charge for incidentals which would be reversed. A few days later, I saw that I had been fully charged $70. It was only after I sent in a written inquiry that someone called back to say that it was for "parking". This is when I asked my bank to intervene. The bank solved the issue in a day (whereas I had been trying on my own for a week). Lesson learned: if you can't solve it immediately, ask your bank for help. Their website says, "We offer valet service with on-site, heated, and secure parking for $35/day." They surely must have known that I hadn't used the service. This charge could easily have been missed. Please be careful. There are other reviewers of the hotel on other platforms who also cited false charges, so it seems that mine was not an isolated issue. Big ups to Chase for quickly acting and disputing the charges. My bus tickets to Dartmouth were very helpful, a reminder that it's important to keep all documents. Editing June 2026: I just learned upon talking to the institution which paid for my hotel stay that Six South St Hotel attempted to charge their card $70 (as well as my personal card). I don't know the exact timeline, so cannot say if this was simultaneous, but we both agreed that we will try to avoid this hotel in the future. Both cards have now been correctly credited back, but only after I asked my bank to intervene. Again, there are similar reviews on other platforms, including one review which also noted that they could not receive a folio (which was my case as well). Please beware.

Overall clean, neat, and looks brand new. Love the rustic design everywhere. The dorm room, which is where I slept, is on the second floor and quite spacious and it's nice they didn't cram more bunk beds. It sleeps 8 but it was just me and another person. It comes with a balcony with a view of the pond and forest, a dining table, a ceiling fan, split hvac system, and sitting area with chairs. Within the same building, downstairs is a mini-kitchen (no stove), 2 separate showers, the check-in office, and a private bedroom. The co-owner/wife is really sweet, friendly, and warm. Too bad I didn't have time to interact more. The Lodge (the common area) is a brief walk outside to get to it. It also has a rustic look. Clean and pretty cool. There's a laundry room, small full kitchen, 2 mini fridges, a full bathroom, a dining table, 2 sitting areas, books, board games, a guest photo album (love the idea), and a guest art book. Breakfast comes with your stay but it's not available till 8 am and I had to leave before then. There's also coffee and tea. Quiet hours begin at 9 pm and end at 6 am. I was surprised by 9 pm because that's too early but that's just me. The last 2 hostels I came from start quiet hours at 10 pm. The only complaint I have is the blanket given for the dorm beds is not sufficient for Vermont's cold temperatures during the night. A duvet will likely be a better option since it's easier to wash. And it didn't help that the other person I was sharing the room with likes to sleep cold (I say that because I saw that 1 window was slightly open and the ceiling fan was running). In short, just book a stay here! I doubt you'll have any regrets.

When we got here, they told me they only had me for Saturday! I was NOT a happy camper! Apparently despite they took my money months ago and sent a booking confirmation of the correct date, someone changed in the system a week before my travel date and removed my reservation for Friday night. Luckily they were able to find another room to accommodate us, but annoyed that we literally will have to check out the next day and move into our booked room. They can't even move our stuff for us because they are so understaffed, so we literally had to checkout in the morning, put our stuff back in our car and check-in at 4 pm. Ugh, rant over! Ok, so about the rooms (since I had the pleasure of staying in 2 separate units). Nothing flashy or spectacular about this place but they do have all of the essentials and the rooms are clean and well-kept. The beds are surprisingly comfortable but not so much of the pullout couch. The queen suit 1 BR had a full kitchen, 1 Bathroom (access in the bedroom which is poorly designed since you have to walk through the bedroom to get in), 1 queen bed in the bedroom, and a pullout couch in the living room. For the other suit (we stayed at room 214/216), it's a 1 BR with 2 Bath, much bigger but only has a kitchenette. This was much better setup and had space in the entryway for ski/snowboard equipment. The unit seem to had new carpeting and has a nice view of the mountain and stream. Amenities-wise, they have a outdoor heated pool which opened 3-9 pm in the winter, a laundry room ($2 quarters for 1 load - same building as the office), a library room with books, limited DVD, coffee & tea and small workout gym (downstairs from office). Location-wise, it's at the end of Rt 4, intersection with Rt 100. There's a BBQ restaurant and bar across the street as well as a gas station. For skiers/boarders, it's about 15 min drive to Killington Ramshead lodge. If you have loaded pass, you can take the Skyship gondola to the mountain much closer (5 min drive) to Bear Mountain. Overall we are happy with this place despite the reservation mixed-up. Timeshare resorts are slim picking for ski mountains so will definitely stay here again.

Within walking distance to many attractions and shopping. Clean and the communal areas were very cute and matched online pictures exactly. My only qualm is that this is a very old house and you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms which was very unpleasant especially if you are in a downstairs room. Floors creaking, beds squeaking, music, conversations, etc. I would recommend bringing headphones and not coming here with children unless you can rent all the rooms for your group or you might have some explaining to do in regards to the sounds coming from other rooms... This is my first BnB experience so maybe this is the norm but I was not prepared for it. As far as I can tell there aren't any enforced quiet hours here. Shampoo/conditioner provided - no body soap. Hairdryer, iron, and hangers available in room. Extra blankets in room. Fridge available for guest storage. Ability to use microwave in kitchen. Parking lot in the back, parking included in stay. We ended up reserving the only room which does not have an en suite bathroom for $100/night, which includes a very tasty continental breakfast. (The bathroom for the Monk room where we stayed is just across the hallway.) The breakfast included delicious spiced oatmeal with a variety of add-ons (walnuts, chopped apples, honey, real maple syrup). Also available were hard boiled eggs, great coffee, a variety of teas, excellent bread and jams, bananas, apples, oranges, homemade pumpkin bread, Greek yogurt, granola. I peeked into a couple of the other rooms which were not currently rented and they all seem to be spacious and nicely decorated. Right now I am hanging out in the comfy shared living room space after wearing myself out XC skiing at the Woodstock Nordic Center this morning - only about a mile away. A variety of restaurants are within walking distance. And a bonus for us: There is an EV charger about a 2 minute walk away.

Food was good - some really good options for the breakfast and dinner buffets, and the outdoor pizza place was good as well. I tried a mocktail or two that were pretty good, and they had a bunch of local brews on tap and in cans, which some of our crew sampled and seemed to enjoy. The lodge itself was nice to hang around as well - really liked the big central area, including some recreational stuff like puzzles, board games, pool, ping pong, and the fitness center had some good stuff there too. Sitting outside looking at the lake and mountains was really nice too, or standing on the dock in the morning. Oh, and the free concert series was really cool - I discovered a new artist to listen to while there! Overall a really beautiful spot that I would absolutely visit again!

Tons of space for every level of skater. There is a rentals shop with hockey skates, figure skates, trail skates, and "support" accessories for those just learning or not super stable on skates. The trail is cleared daily, but when there is a snow storm it takes longer. The ice conditions are totally weather dependent. We've been here 3 times, one time the ice was smooth and very easy to skates on, one time we couldn't skate at all because the weather earlier in the week created slush, which then froze, and was so bumpy skating wasn't possible, and then it rained and the skate trial had 3 inches of water on it. This year, the trail opened earlier than ever (Jan 9) and this week (Feb school break) the weather was perfect for skating! Mostly smooth ice, some bumps in some spots, but easy to avoid, and it is a lake, so to be expected. The hotel is perfect for families with kids of any age. There were many multi-generations groups here together. They do lots of kid oriented things in addition to the skating (a movie theater, DJ and dance floor, ping pong, heated indoor swimming pool, billiards, a variety of games and puzzles. Free-range kids everywhere. The restaurant serves the basics. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We ate here for one dinner, and tried the Beet salad, the pork dumplings, the soft pretzels, and the Ruben sandwich...and all were good. This place is not luxury. It has a classic historical hotel feeling about it, with lots of old photos on the walls to prove it. This place is a good value in the winter. Everything you need, friendly staff, beautiful views of the lake restaurant and bar on site for breakfast, lunch and dinner so if you don't want to leave once you get here, there is no need to.
