We stayed here one night in January (Sat). First, check in was not a warm and fuzzy experience. We are Hilton Gold members and we are usually offered complimentary water or something, but that was not the case here. The woman checking us in was rather curt and I found that off putting. Also I had selected a room online when I checked in and when I arrived I was told that I was not getting that room because they had to move me because of a stay over (which doesn't sound like my problem). That seems like something that should have been ASKED, not TOLD to me- and in advance of my arrival. We had tried to select a quiet room so that was another irritant. My daughter said she was up all night with the sound of doors slamming and people talking in the hallways. She said it was "the worst hotel sleep she has ever had." The room itself appeared to be clean and we asked for another blanket which was promptly sent up. I did use the fitness center which is where there could be some improvement. I had to wait for a treadmill (many hotels I have stayed at have a sign asking people to limit their time on equipment to 20 minutes when others are waiting) so that was annoying. Plus there was a woman in the weight area using three sets of weights and the entire area as if it was her own. The room was hot as well. I tried to turn on the A/C but the unit was broken. In addition to it being hot, the woman in the weight area was farting. LOUDLY and the entire room was a stink pit. I had to open the door and keep it propped open with a weight to get some fresh air in. In all my years of hotel stays, that is a new one, but the room should have been better ventilated and there should be signs up asking people to be courteous to other guests. I was able to open the window once they all left and get the room cooled down and the smell out but it was gross. Worse yet, when I complained at the front desk to Mar**h, no apology, nothing. She said "we'll have someone look into it." Just not great service for what I am used to at Hilton locations. The breakfast was nice though and I thought they did a good job with that.

The driveway was a little hard to find though, I had to drive around a few other buildings to find a way in. The woman at the front desk was polite and pleasant, and the room was clean, with a fresh, well made, and comfortable bed. When I called the front desk for help getting on the internet, the same woman who checked me in was helpful and patient. But...(and there are a lot of buts..) The hotel is pretty dingy. If my room had been $87/ night, I wouldn't mind, but I spent $207 on the room for one night. The hotel was pretty hot and musty. The air felt stagnant - though the common areas and rooms were clean. I turned the a/c in my room all the way down, but the room never felt cool. The walls and carpets were very dated and had a tired look that won out against the more updated couches in common areas. The internet was awful, it took me 30 minutes, one phone call, and a trip down to the front desk to get online, and then the next morning, it had kicked me off again. The bathroom was tight, but workable, the water took a long time to warm up, but stayed hot once it'd heated up. The bath towels were horrible though - a cotton-poly blend that was not absorbent at all. Overall, I would stay here again if I had to, but next time I'm passing though Rutland, I'll try one of the little, touristy, motor-court inns or a Hampton.

And at night there is so little light pollution you can see all the stars. Very pretty! The room we stayed in (Forest Glen) is cozy and pretty basic, but it did its job well. The bed was comfortable, and the fan and air conditioning were easy to control so we could sleep comfortably. The shower works very well with good pressure and heat. There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. The location is perfect as it is minutes away from Killington and Pico mountains. The views from the lawn of the mountains are stunning. Rooms were excellent and there was plenty of space. There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. They also host bridal showers and other events. The breakfasts were fantastic and our waiters Emerson and Jameson provided excellent service. Thanks to Mike, Kayla and family for great memories. I would highly recommend The Vermont Inn and we will definitely be back.

At The Paw House Inn, you don't choose--you get the best of both worlds. My partner and I came up for a ski trip to Killington, and honestly, the service we received rivaled any luxury hotel we've stayed at, while Taco (our dog) got treated like royalty. Service for the Whole Pack: Mitch and Jeff are the dream team. Mitch's communication was flawless--he navigated us through some iffy weather on arrival day and acted as a top-tier concierge for the rest of the trip. He didn't just point us to a map; he gave us a locals-only tip for a public golf course that allows cross-country skiing. It was the highlight of our trip--fresh tracks for us, and off-leash freedom for Taco. Jeff, meanwhile, made us feel incredibly welcome (and made Taco his best friend with his lightning-fast treat distribution). It's rare to find hosts who care just as much about the quality of the human's dinner (sending us to Sweet Caroline's and Roots--both huge hits) as they do about the dog's happiness. The Stay: Breakfast was delicious every morning, but the real highlight was that Taco could sit right there with us. It was a lovely reminder of home--he never leaves our side until breakfast is over, and being able to keep that routine here made the trip feel incredibly special. The boarding facility is pristine, warm, and secure. We got video updates of Taco playing with his new friends (shoutout to Diggins, Blu, and Percy!) while we were skiing Killington, which let us actually relax and enjoy the slopes. The Verdict: If you want a vacation where you feel pampered and your dog has the time of his life, this is it. We're already planning our return.
