Absolute nightmare. We booked through Hotwire and never have had the experience we had that we had here. Before even getting in the room we knew the room was going to be bad. The lock on the outside looks like someone tried to pry it open with a screw driver and there was no window which i don't know how it's legal. Walk in the room and notice that the dresser that has the television on it has a draw open. No problem, try and close it? It keeps opening up. It doesn't stay closed (and has all our towels in it, which is weird, but I'll get to that) even with the obnoxious cardboard wedged underneath to try and balance it out. And another weird thing is that the fridge is right by the door because the room is so small and cramped there's no room for that or the swivel chair, which doesn't make any sense because there is no desk in the room. Also the lock on the inside of the room was busted. Made the whole stay feel very safe at night. We barricaded the door with the fridge and the swivel chair. Getting back to the towels, there was no towel rack in the room, as it's been ripped out of the wall and now there are just holes in the bathroom wall. The hotel wasn't that busy there were at most four cars in the lot, how did they think it was a good idea to give this room out? Unless all rooms are like this, which seems likely, as we asked the girl at the desk for a roll of toilet paper and she had to get it out of an empty room. I've never been to a hotel that doesn't have extra toilet paper behind the desk or in a closet by the desk. When we stay in Rutland again in the next month we will be staying at a different hotel chain, as there are plenty of others on the same road.

Hampton Inn Rutland - Meeting Room

Hampton Inn Rutland

Airbnbs or bed and breakfasts are usually more our cup of tea, but the four humans of our family…read morerecently squeezed into a double queen bedroom at Hampton Inn Rutland for the camaraderie of staying with other ski team families. It was a blast and the hotel was quite pleasant for the genre (mid-range, family friendly). Pros: - There's a nice common room downstairs with a fireplace, where we were able to gather with a big group of friends and share dinner. It's also where breakfast is served in the a.m. - Breakfast service begins at 6 a.m. -- great for those who need an early start. - My kiddos love "Hotel Breakfast" as they call it, and this was no exception. There are two DIY waffle irons with lots of wonderfully unhealthy toppings; hot mini omelettes, sausage, and potatoes; muffins, bagels, toast; cold cereal and oatmeal; fruit salad and whole fruit. - We either had very quiet neighbors or the walls are reasonably well soundproofed. - There's a small, heated pool. It's hyperchlorinated as most hotel pools are, but a nice place to congregate and relax with friends after skiing. - There's a small, but adequate gym -- and a conference room should you need it. - The hotel adjoins a shopping complex that includes a Hannaford's supermarket, an Office Depot and a Michael's. Convenient for friends who had to find poster board for a school project due the following Monday. And we picked up fruit trays and dessert for our team dinner. - The hotel is dog friendly! We traveled without our pup this time, but did get to hang with some great guest canines. This is a massive plus in our book. - Beds were quite comfortable and staff were nice! Two people even dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus to say hello to the kids at dinner. :) Cons: - The elevator was out of order during our stay, so those of us staying on the third floor with lots of ski gear to carry up and down got a GREAT workout. - The pool is quite small, more of a cooler-than-usual hot tub than anything else -- so don't expect to swim laps. - There's no fan or ventilation in the bathroom. After four showers, it gets pretty steamy. Neutral: - It's about 30 minutes from Killington Mountain. There are more proximate, dog friendly hotels (e.g. Killington Mountain Lodge) and Airbnbs, but Hampton Inn Rutland may be better priced. - Our room temperature defaulted to 68 or 69 F. I love that it's eco-friendly and it was a good temperature for putting on ski gear -- but we usually keep our home a bit warmer than this. You can change the temperature of course, but ours kept defaulting to the cooler setting at night. - We're not big TV watchers, but for those who are, I think you need to sign in to Netflix, Disney+, etc... with your own account logins. The hotel does not have its own subscriptions. Overall, this was a great, budget-friendly place to stay with a group!

The TV is so small (estimate 36 inch ) and in the corner so far away. No fridge and when I called for ice the told me it was on a different floor but we had no ice bucket, it took them over a hour and a half to deliver one. The bathroom had terrible lighting and my wife couldn't put her makeup on. The entire suite is very old and needs a major upgrade before i stayed here again.

And at night there is so little light pollution you can see all the stars. Very pretty! The room we stayed in (Forest Glen) is cozy and pretty basic, but it did its job well. The bed was comfortable, and the fan and air conditioning were easy to control so we could sleep comfortably. The shower works very well with good pressure and heat. There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. They are cute and do a great job! Definitely a great place to stay if you're in the Killington area!

There are many cozy public rooms to sit, play board games, read or just talk. The hosts Mike and Kayla were very friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect as it is minutes away from Killington and Pico mountains. The views from the lawn of the mountains are stunning. Rooms were excellent and there was plenty of space. There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. They also host bridal showers and other events. The breakfasts were fantastic and our waiters Emerson and Jameson provided excellent service. Thanks to Mike, Kayla and family for great memories. I would highly recommend The Vermont Inn and we will definitely be back.

Spoke to the staff and front counter asking for help and they refused to do anything. Would not stay here again. This hotel room might as well be considered a smoking room. Absolutely sketchy place. Update: holiday Inn and Priceline refused to help us. The second day staying there we pulled the chair out to use the desk and there was a piece of crap under the table. Again, no help. They tried to move us to a different room but that rooms air conditioning and heating unit did not work and it smelled of mold and was extremely musky. Finally the guy from the front desk grabbed a rag and some cleaner and came and picked up the poop... we reluctantly stayed in that room. Horrible experience

As we had guests coming from all around the country, we decided to make a long weekend around our celebration, starting with a private smaller dinner on Thursday night in the tavern of the Inn (about 30 people). It was like our own private restaurant, which then turned into dancing with a DJ. The fresh salmon and farm-to-table greens (both fresh and sautéed) were top notch. On Friday night, we had a BBQ outdoors for our rehearsal dinner, with about 50 people. Again, the food was exceptional, especially the brisket (brined and smoked by them) and the Mac and Vermont Cheddar Cheese, and the fruit pies (mmm). On Saturday night, I had rib-eye that was cooked to perfection...amazing that they could do that with so many guests. My (new) wife had halibut that was tender and delicious. And our guests raved about the vegetarian option (Roasted Heirloom Tomato, Stuffed with quinoa, Kalamata Olives, Pine Nuts, Basil Pesto). Every day that offered healthy and delicious options for breakfast and lunch, with the Sunday brunch especially broad buffet options. Kudos to chefs Mike and Tom and the entire staff for keeping many foodie guests so happy. And the liquor choices were also incredible with three different signature cocktails each night, fantastic wine and local beers. The setting of the Red Clover Inn is magical, with many beautiful spaces, indoor and out. There is are large lawns, a pond filled with lilies, flowers everywhere, surrounded by forests and views of mountains. We had our wedding ceremony outdoors on the lawn, with my wife and I standing under a 100-year old apple tree with amazing 360-degree views. The indoors have many fun spaces, from a quaint Vermont comfy living room, to a sun room, to large dining room, and large tavern space, and fun bar area. And the rooms! The Red Clover offers a number of different options for rooms as we took over the entire estate. From super luxurious king bed suites with oversize jetted tubs and fireplaces, to smaller, well-appointed queen suites, to a 5-bedroom house (where we put all the teenagers together). There are beautiful spaces for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready separately. During each day, we had fun activities - both on property and off. The Red Clover offers a ton of lawn games and we played them all - frisbee, football, corn hole, ladder ball. On Friday morning, we went to the Killington Adventure Center for a mountain coaster, zip lines and ropes course, followed by lunch at the top of the gondola. On Saturday morning, we went on a local hike with unbelievable views (and a bit of the Appalachian Trail). And on Sunday, we went to a swimming hole with crystal clear water, multiple waterfalls and cliff jumps - so fun! Can't wait to come back for our anniversary!!!

The main inn had 3 or 4 areas to relax and play games. I cant say enough about the Red Clover Inn. I'm sure it would be a great place to stay during ski season especially if you wanted to get away from the big resorts and wanted a more relaxing place to enjoy your evening.

At The Paw House Inn, you don't choose--you get the best of both worlds. My partner and I came up for a ski trip to Killington, and honestly, the service we received rivaled any luxury hotel we've stayed at, while Taco (our dog) got treated like royalty. Service for the Whole Pack: Mitch and Jeff are the dream team. Mitch's communication was flawless--he navigated us through some iffy weather on arrival day and acted as a top-tier concierge for the rest of the trip. He didn't just point us to a map; he gave us a locals-only tip for a public golf course that allows cross-country skiing. It was the highlight of our trip--fresh tracks for us, and off-leash freedom for Taco. Jeff, meanwhile, made us feel incredibly welcome (and made Taco his best friend with his lightning-fast treat distribution). It's rare to find hosts who care just as much about the quality of the human's dinner (sending us to Sweet Caroline's and Roots--both huge hits) as they do about the dog's happiness. The Stay: Breakfast was delicious every morning, but the real highlight was that Taco could sit right there with us. It was a lovely reminder of home--he never leaves our side until breakfast is over, and being able to keep that routine here made the trip feel incredibly special. The boarding facility is pristine, warm, and secure. We got video updates of Taco playing with his new friends (shoutout to Diggins, Blu, and Percy!) while we were skiing Killington, which let us actually relax and enjoy the slopes. The Verdict: If you want a vacation where you feel pampered and your dog has the time of his life, this is it. We're already planning our return.

They claim to be "women owned", however Mitch is definitely not a woman! Mitch was very rude over the phone, showing no compassion of our situation and disappointment of having to cancel our trip. He kept talking over me, with a condescending and angry tone of voice, and then hung up on me while I was speaking so I called back and of course it went to voicemail. He refused to refund $300 a deposit of almost $300, and told me to call my bank, which I ended up having to do after he was so despicably rude to me over the phone. On another note, we never received a form to fill out concerning our dogs way ahead of arrival, or a confirmation after I booked the reservation online. It's a shame that a person/place who claims to love dogs would treat a human being as rudely as I was treated when I spoke to Mitch. They should be ashamed of themselves and their absence of customer service. I know I will NEVER attempt to make another reservation at this inn now knowing what the owner is like. If he can't be courteous to customers, I would. It trust them with my beloved pets. It's really sad that this happened as we were really looking forward to the trip.
