We had a chance to eat dinner at the restaurant on site and we were pleasantly surprised at the caliber of the food, well above standard "hotel" dining. This carried through to the food which was served to us at the wedding, again well above what we expected. There are a variety of activities available, but we felt that the property didn't quite rise to the "resort" bar. Again, winter might be completely different.

The bed was comfortable, and the fan and air conditioning were easy to control so we could sleep comfortably. The shower works very well with good pressure and heat. There is a small TV if you feel like watching anything, but definitely enjoy the area instead! The Vermont Inn has a bar inside that closes at 9pm. We didn't try it, but it looked so nice and cozy. If you purchase directly through the website, then breakfast is included each morning. Every day they offer pancakes, french toast, or eggs and bacon, and then there is a daily special omelette. We tried omelettes, french toast, and pancakes, and all were quite good. And the coffee is surprisingly tasty. It appears to be a family operation with the kids taking orders. They are cute and do a great job! Definitely a great place to stay if you're in the Killington area!

There are many cozy public rooms to sit, play board games, read or just talk. The hosts Mike and Kayla were very friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect as it is minutes away from Killington and Pico mountains. The views from the lawn of the mountains are stunning. Rooms were excellent and there was plenty of space. There is a Sauna and pool outside during the summer months. We met a couple that were staying there and planning their wedding with the hosts and it sounded like it was going to be fantastic. They also host bridal showers and other events. The breakfasts were fantastic and our waiters Emerson and Jameson provided excellent service. Thanks to Mike, Kayla and family for great memories. I would highly recommend The Vermont Inn and we will definitely be back.

Highlights: 1) fully stocked kitchen, with plates/cookingware/microwave and so on, perfect for preparing that mad delicious pasta and lasagna dinner (read: carb-loading for the next day). 2) spacious rooms, super clean, and washer/dryer in the unit. I should have seriously brought my laundry from home :( 3) On the free Diamond Express shuttle route to Killington Ski Resort. It comes every hour, and there's usually enough room on board for your board/skis. Minus one star for an average hottub experience. The tub is in the main sport center complex, is lukewarm, and closes at 8 pm. What the wuttt?! Also, if you're tired of the Killington madness, the condos are at the base of Pico mountain - the lift/waffle stand was literally outside our window. Will have to explore next time (waffle in hand, obvs).

As we had guests coming from all around the country, we decided to make a long weekend around our celebration, starting with a private smaller dinner on Thursday night in the tavern of the Inn (about 30 people). It was like our own private restaurant, which then turned into dancing with a DJ. The fresh salmon and farm-to-table greens (both fresh and sautéed) were top notch. On Friday night, we had a BBQ outdoors for our rehearsal dinner, with about 50 people. Again, the food was exceptional, especially the brisket (brined and smoked by them) and the Mac and Vermont Cheddar Cheese, and the fruit pies (mmm). On Saturday night, I had rib-eye that was cooked to perfection...amazing that they could do that with so many guests. My (new) wife had halibut that was tender and delicious. And our guests raved about the vegetarian option (Roasted Heirloom Tomato, Stuffed with quinoa, Kalamata Olives, Pine Nuts, Basil Pesto). Every day that offered healthy and delicious options for breakfast and lunch, with the Sunday brunch especially broad buffet options. Kudos to chefs Mike and Tom and the entire staff for keeping many foodie guests so happy. And the liquor choices were also incredible with three different signature cocktails each night, fantastic wine and local beers. The setting of the Red Clover Inn is magical, with many beautiful spaces, indoor and out. There is are large lawns, a pond filled with lilies, flowers everywhere, surrounded by forests and views of mountains. We had our wedding ceremony outdoors on the lawn, with my wife and I standing under a 100-year old apple tree with amazing 360-degree views. The indoors have many fun spaces, from a quaint Vermont comfy living room, to a sun room, to large dining room, and large tavern space, and fun bar area. And the rooms! The Red Clover offers a number of different options for rooms as we took over the entire estate. From super luxurious king bed suites with oversize jetted tubs and fireplaces, to smaller, well-appointed queen suites, to a 5-bedroom house (where we put all the teenagers together). There are beautiful spaces for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready separately. During each day, we had fun activities - both on property and off. The Red Clover offers a ton of lawn games and we played them all - frisbee, football, corn hole, ladder ball. On Friday morning, we went to the Killington Adventure Center for a mountain coaster, zip lines and ropes course, followed by lunch at the top of the gondola. On Saturday morning, we went on a local hike with unbelievable views (and a bit of the Appalachian Trail). And on Sunday, we went to a swimming hole with crystal clear water, multiple waterfalls and cliff jumps - so fun! Can't wait to come back for our anniversary!!!

Room did not smell of cigarettes and was generally clean. The lodge itself was like a time warp back to the 60's. You can tell this place did a swinging business in it's heyday. There was a pool that we unfortunately didn't have time to avail ourselves of. The black mold in the showers is a problem. I understand why it's probably a constant battle for them. The shower doors go all the way to the ceiling (hence the crazy and fun acoustics) so if the shower door is closed, the condensation has no where to go. But it really is icky (and unhealthy.) The grounds could have used a bit more upkeep (cigarette butts here and there) and the lodge was was a bit dusty. But for what you are paying not a big deal. Wifi worked great when we arrived and got the password from the front desk but when we woke up in the morning our devices couldn't find the router. We only had an hour until we needed to check out so we didn't bother going to the desk but I'm 100% certain they would have taken care of it had we asked. Other guests at the wedding we attended paid twice as much for their rooms at the inn where the wedding was held and they had no AC, no TV, no pool, 15 minutes to get hot water, clogged showers so we lucked out. It was perfect for one night and a great deal.

Add to that the complimentary hot/cold breakfast, year-round hot tub, and the awesome family that runs this hotel, and you've got the perfect "best kept secret" that Lynda M. describes. Rooms are kept clean, owners know me by name even though I'm far from a "frequent flyer" here, and the other guests are always fun to chat with in the cozy hotel lobby / living room area. A couple notes on mass transit for those that plan to rely on "The Bus" (the Killington region bus system). Morning buses en route to Killington pick up outside this hotel's entrance at 30 minutes past the hour (as of this writing) on the "Diamond Express" (Rutland-Killington) line. Evening buses are pretty much the same deal - just make sure you get on the Diamond Express, as the other bus just goes back and forth on the access road.

ED came in my room twice after I told him not to enter my room when not there. He will cross your boundaries and does not accept criticism well. The hospitality is fake. He came in to close the windows shut so I would not open again. I needed to air out the room from the mildew smell because I was feeling sick. He broke the blinds when he shut the windows and blamed on. Blinds don't cost 127 dollars. He only returned 223 of my deposit so now I have to dispute and report his business. He talk nice and his wife too who also came unannounced but actions are louder. They only care for the money. Also, I am African American and what I hate the most about America are all the scamming white people in this country and in Vermont. When I first came to Vermont a scammer on airbnb would not give me my money back and I had to contact the attorney General to get my money back. I won't do business in Vermont anymore. They desperate for workers but more people are leaving Vermont. Vermont is not as progressive as it appears. Many racists and old immature people with disgusting character flaws. Most people in Vermont are old. If you are young Vernont not the place. This mountain son advertised as a hotel but is a motel just as old as the owners. Vermpnt stuck in time. If you stay at places like the Hyatt House with modern amenities your standards are too high for Vermont. The hotels in Vermont all are dirty and Vermont businesses operate out of survival not true creation. They don't even like using technology. Elders don't bring wisdom anymore. Being old just shows duration of time. If your business back in time the people who own it are not evolving. They rather wear old boat shoes from 1980 something. My husband and I take motorcycle vacation every year and stay only at mom and pop hotels - no chains! We are rarely as disappointed as we were here. If we hadn't been so tired we would have broken our own rule and stayed in a chain. New rule - check out the room FIRST!
