The Lilac Inn is centrally located in Brandon and a walkable distance from local restaurants & shops. Our check-in was pretty much autonomous & simple. All rooms are on the second floor. We selected the corner room #5 (aka The "Lilac Room" I believe?). The room offered a large Roku tv, fireplace, queen four post bed & ball and claw tub. The decor is comfortable and the room clean. We were the ONLY guests at the Inn this evening. Pretty cool. We started a fire (everything supplied), watched a bit of tv, found the bed quite comfortable and slept well. There is a Keurig coffee station on the floor supplied with coffee, cocoa and packaged biscotti for guests to enjoy anytime. We woke to enjoy our made to order breakfast (included) of blueberry pancakes, bacon, sausage patties, eggs (any style), home fries and fruit along with coffee, oj, cranberry juice and water. Shelly and Ashley and staff were wonderful, They actually cared about every detail, making sure my Family had a great stay. And My Granddaughters wedding reception was everything that her and her new husband thought it would be. The breakfasts were fantastic and the homemade pizza they made the eve of the wedding , and they even made a gluten free pizza for my daughter. My daughter got married here at the end of May 2025. I am forever grateful to Shelley (the owner), her daughter Ashley, and all the staff at the hotel. The wedding was absolutely perfect in every way. We loved the food, the service, the location. It was pouring all day for the wedding, but there was a beautiful view of the gardens out of every window. The photos out on the porch, surrounded by flowers and archways are probably better than if we were out in the sun. One of the things I loved the most was that we rented all the rooms in the hotel and so it was "ours" for Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. We had a rehearsal dinner on Friday night for 42 people. Shelly can even do breakfasts for big groups if that is wanted. There are no shortage of accommodations in Brandon, even though it is a small town and the Lilac Inn only has 9 rooms. The Brandon inn has over 30 rooms. Guests that stayed elsewhere could drop in to the Lilac Inn any time during the evening on Friday or daytime on Saturday and hang out in the study, the foyer, the porch or the bar. I enjoyed the stay in my room, which was quiet, comfortable and had good air conditioning. The breakfasts (included in price of room) were delicious and made to order. I loved planning with Shelley and Ashley as they were pleasant and accommodating and genuinely caring, every step of the way. read more

Our team was doing a bike ride from Boston to Montreal for the Liam Foundation. The weather was horrible and we were looking for a laundromat to dry them out and get them warmed up. The closest was in Middlebury, which was 35 miles more to ride - cold, and tired, and wet. Our support team reached out to the Lilac Inn and an Angel (Ms. Robin) answered the phone. She reached out to Shelly and the Lilac dried our clothes and let our riders use the empty tavern to eat and rest up. When we reached out to Robin - she let us know that she was starting a pot of coffee for our guys. Upon arrival, the team had coffee, hot chocolate, and a warm place to eat.....Wow! Look, if Ms. Robin and Ms Shelly (the innkeeper) do this for folks that drop into their lap on a cold rainy day.....you can only imagine how they treat their guests. They went above and beyond for a bunch of strangers and we (Team Liam) will always be in their debt. It's a beautiful place with unmatched hospitality provided by actual Angels. THANK YOU LILAC INN. My sister and I stayed one night at the Lilac Inn when we visited family in Brandon. It was a beautiful and charming inn with welcoming staff and owner! We stayed in the most affordable room, the Robert Frost, which is two twin beds. It was very comfortable and just right for us. I'm definitely considering booking it and the adjoining Spring Room in the future if I come up with my husband and two sons. Only minor complaint was that the wind made the big wooden shutters really bang loudly at night, sometimes waking us. Maybe they could be secured somehow? No big deal though. Breakfast was incredible and more than made up for that! read more

Betsy was so helpful with making the reservation. It's in a great location within walking distance to restaurants (Cafe Provence.... Yum) and shopping. It is filled with lovely antiques of all sorts. We had a very spacious king room with a lovely antique claw foot soaking tub. It's very clean and inviting and very classy. read more

My cousin got married here in the summer of 2018 so I spent almost a whole day here for all the events and outings. When you first look at it from the street, it doesn't seem like an inn. It looks like a really cozy home with a lot of square footage. It's got a side driveway with parking and lots of "backyard" space for special events. Since this is an inn, there's a small bar and seating area indoors and a lounge area combined with a library with TV inside. The rest of the area downstairs is public sitting/meeting areas for people to congregate. The rooms mostly reside upstairs up the staircase. In terms of how the wedding went, the event went smoothly without a hitch. Their garden area was a great background for the ceremony and the gazebo was a nice backdrop for picture taking. Most of the staff and event workers were very friendly and the food that they served at the banquet was pretty good. Since there were so many people attending, it was difficult to get a clear line of sight during the reception but overall, I think the venue did its best to accommodate my cousin and his fiancee's needs. Now that I know about this place and the city of Brandon, I'll be sure that I'll never ever forget my memorable experience here. read more

The service at Lilac Inn goes above and beyond. They were very accommodating for both a late check-in and late check-out. Even going so far as to prepare breakfast after closing the kitchen! My husband and I knew we wanted to elope in Vermont and probably researched dozens of resorts and inns throughout the state. No one was able to compete with the Lilac as it relates to providing a personal touch, a beautiful venue, full support throughout the planning process and an overall dream experience. Betsy (works the front desk/reception/wedding coordination) was INCREDIBLE from beginning to end and Shelly (the owner) was so accommodating and gracious! The inn itself is gorgeous and the The Grand Suite was ridiculously spacious (appx 800 sqft) and perfect for photos and relaxing (wood burning fireplace!). The support team (waitresses/room service/groundskeeper) was amazing and the breakfast each morning was out of this world! We will absolutely be going back to relive what ended up being a wedding elopement that well exceeded our expectations! read more

The Lilac Inn is a magical place in a cute historical town in Vermont. The owners Shelly and Doug and their staff made our wedding weekend a memorable everlasting experience. Ashley was so helpful in planning and helping us stay organized with Shelly. We had a wedding of 107 in the ballroom with the ceremony outside. They are dog friendly so our dogs were part of the ceremony. Our bridal party and parents were able to stay at the Lilac Inn on Friday and Saturday nights, which made setup so easy along with having everything in one location. We also decided to get our First Look photos done here in the back gardens where there's a pond and beautiful gardens. We cannot thank them enough, and we cannot wait to come back to visit and take weekend getaways for years to come. read more

My wife and I took advantage of their elopement package and tied the knot at this wonderful B&B. The innkeeper and his wife were very friendly. While we were here, the cable was not working (not that it mattered to us), but they offered us free range over their DVD collection. We stayed in the largest room, which has a very large jacuzzi-style tub in the private bath. The room had a new king sized bed from Vermont Tubbs (a very high-end piece), and hardwood floors. Definitely a great place for a romantic getaway. read more

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACK UP PLAN Just arrived after a four-hour drive for a weekend stay at the Lilac Inn, only to be turned away because they had given my room to someone else. I made the reservation over the phone a few days earlier, was quoted a price for a queen bed room, and gave my credit card number. When we arrived, we were told that "we should have checked our email" because they had emailed the day before to say they could no longer provide us with a room. Despite the fact that they had my phone number, they decided to simply send me an email the day before our arrival date. No apologies from the staff at all. In fact, as we were leaving, we were told curtly once again, "you should have checked your email." So if you want to be sure you can actually count on having a place to stay, I'd suggest having a back up plan. Or better yet, stay at anyone of the dozens of other places in the area who undoubtedly have owners and staff who know something about hospitality and know the meaning of the word reservation! read more

BEAUTIFUL location! Beautiful gardens and gazebo. Seriously, these gardens are divine. They come straight out of a fairy tale. Amazing short waterfalls and garden sculptures, too. Delicious food. Went to a wedding rehearsal dinner and wedding reception here, and the food was delicious. This location is just amazing inside and out. The owners and staff are very friendly. Got married here last year (June 2015). Everything was AMAZING. Why would anyone getting married in Vermont choose any other place? I don't know because the Lilac Inn is beautiful! Shelly and Doug take such good care of the place and they are just so welcoming. They are so flexible and accommodating also. I was pretty busy our wedding day and forgot to check in on everything (aka music, seating, etc) but Shelly had it covered. She was calmly on top of everything! The food is the best. The pricing is UNBEATABLE. The gardens are beautiful. The rooms are perfect. I wish I could recreate that day over and over because I loved everything (and I'm actually a picky person).
