This is a rock supply business (granite, boulders, soil) . Low quality. Don't care about customer. Stay away!
I ordered a 5 ton of 3/4-inch granite rock and had it delivered by my house (to use in decorative landscaping). Shortly after I started working, I relized that the amount of fine dust is excessive. In this bussiness, a certain (but small) amount of dust is apparently acceptable (even though the material is advertized and sold as "screened" at a particular size), but I received - and I am not exaggerating - over a ton of dust and tiny rocks in that 5-ton delivery.
Since I didn't want to spread dust over the area where I wanted that rock (what would the point of putting rock there then be, if it's not to cover the ground dirt), I literally had to start separating rocks from dust by using a rake. I did not have anything else (e.g. a screen), and the whole time while I was doing that I was hoping that it's only a layer of that dust that I have to pass and that it'd be over. Well, after rougly 7-8 hours of extra time that I spent on that project (due to that rock separation), I got left with 3 large (and full) wheelbarrow-size of dust and tiny rocks. That's definitely over a ton of dust, if not a ton and a half. 20-30% of dust, people! That's acceptable to Red Canyon Supply, they say.
I did not loose my temper one bit. I called them on the phone, and in a nice tone I explained that I am not happy with what they delivered. They said they could not do anything for me, although I did not even ask for anything more than an apology (which I didn't get afterall).
I then decided to send a message to their company email address, with pictures of the problematic pile which I had been taking as I was working. Again, I was pleasant in my message, and I wasn't asking for any sort of compensation. I simply wrote them to tell them that I wasn't satisfied and that I would suggest that they improve their rock-screening process. Although I did not say that, I really wanted somebody to apologize to me. I received nothing.
I want to warn others planning on doing business with this company that there is a possibility that they will get similar treatment. Once the truck driver dumps the pile at the location of your job, there's nothing you can do if the wrong material has been dumped: they're not going to come back and pick it up. If you can, buy your rock elsewhere.
You've been warned. read more
