I am a new resident ( as of Dec 2019), with a personal history working for property management companies. My Leasing experience with Red Brick has been above and beyond that of any management experience I have had. The team has been extra helpful and easy to communicate with. My leasing agent Amanda was friendly, easy to work with and knowledgeable about all company policies. My new property manager has gone above and beyond to make me feel right at home! The maintenance staff has been easy to work with efficient and polite. I love my new apartment and look forward to spending the next 16 months in a lease with RedBrick...! Great Job Red Brick! read more

Not only is this a horrible place to live at any of their managed properties due to the lack of Corporate Care but it is a horrible place to work as they limit you to what you can do to help the people that live here in these communities . I used to be a maintenance supervisor over one of their properties and they start off letting you do good by helping as I was earning them five star reviews from the tenants who were management hurt due to poor management prior to me . The workload is extensive due to lack of proper management and they limit your spending because they're concerned about their bonuses at the end of the month so what maintenance needs can't be gotten because of corporate greed . They find a way to get you out of there when you do spend because they have already pre-spent their bonus money so they're counting on it and their bonus is far more important to them than their tenants because at the end of the day when they go home they don't have to look at their tenants . Once they lock you in to a lease you're in there and they don't care about you anymore because you're stuck and they know it . I'm telling you this from experience working with them because I tried to make it a better place for the tenants and a better place for the management normally my formula is a servant leader that provides great tenant retention as well as management satisfaction with my work but this only works when they allow it to . Money is more important to them than people just know that when you come here to look at these places when you look at all these reviews they're all true every one of them not only the ones here but the ones that are on Google those are all true and you can blame the office managers for that the district managers for that the corporate all the way up the ladder into Illinois red brick management is evil . Don't rent from any of these places they manage or you will be done the same way and they will just smile to your face and try to make you feel good about everything and then they will let you down and let you down hard . read more

We moved into Laclede Lofts, a brand new property of Redbrick, despite reading a whole lot of terrible reviews online about Redbrick STL. We figured that because it was a new property and they had just invested in renovations, new appliances and new landscaping, that we may not actually need to depend on them for much. We were wrong. Right after we signed our lease and paid our first month's rent, we were called and told not to move in for a few more hours as they had forgotten to clean our unit- despite knowing for over a month that we would be moving in that day. When we were finally able to move in three hours later, the air conditioning was not working. A Redbrick employee who happened to be in the building confirmed that it was actually the case for multiple units. Many of the finishes were damaged upon installation. We took pictures and documented it with our move-in paperwork. They did not fix a single thing. Our brand new washer regularly malfunctioned. They could have replaced it but did not. The building was always dirty (I think someone came out to clean on six or seven occasions, at best, in over a year.) The property rarely has dog poop bags and they allow the grass to grow far too long- a real treat for dog owner's who need to take their dogs to go to the bathroom. There is an alarm box (I guess for the garage door) that goes off VERY regularly, often for many hours or even days. This is not a rare problem, but almost weekly. We lived by the main entrance and had to move out bedroom furniture to our living room. Yet the alarm still regularly goes for 8 or 12 hours, at least two or three times per month. The "secure" doors are left open very regularly. The front doors don't close by themselves and the "locked" magnetic gate rarely catches to stay closed. On several occasions, homeless people hung out in the front entrance area or on the front stairs. On one occasion, I walked out of my loft to find someone was sleeping on the couch in the resident lounge area. All of this is well-documented through photos of garbage, broken glass, dog waste, damaged property. They DO NOT CARE. They will promise over and over again to remedy the situation, but they do not. Customer service ends when you sign your lease. Take my word, you do NOT want to rent from them. read more

I'm just getting around to realizing Red Brick Management responded to my review, apparently I'm a little less petty about the situation...but since the response is there....I have photos timestamped from the day I moved out that prove the door lock was still broken and the light you're referring to still wasn't fixed. 100% photo-documented. It's a little ridiculous to have to fight management especially when they consistently insist to know more about building codes and construction when you're an architect with two masters degrees in the construction industr read more

Red Brick is a slumlord company. I have also lived in Hazelwood Chez Pare apartments for at least 6 years or more now and it is very difficult to get them to fix anything even safety stuff such as the sliding door lock needed replaced and it took multiple calls and in person visits to the leasing office. To get that fixed and it still took several days the roof has needed to be sealed for years now and they won't send someone to do it. We can't really afford to move anywhere else right now. Like everyone else we're barely getting by. They raise the rent it was 950 when we moved in which in my opinion is what it should still be because the condition of the place has just gotten worse. There are multiple empty units due to a flood a few years ago and they've never even attempted to fix those so people can move back in or new people can move in. I guess it's a good thing because as I mentioned red brick management is scum ball property management. Don't rent any of their properties in all the Saint Louis area. And a big middle finger to you jack butts at red brick. read more

BEWARE!!!! SHADY!!!! The apartments are beautiful on the surface, but when it comes time for a maintenance call, be prepared to be ignored for days. My A/C went out and it took a week to be addressed. The ceiling was leaking during a thunderstorm, water was dripping onto the overhead light fixture and when I flipped a switch there were sparks. I'd warned them about the leak plenty of times before that incident. Took days to address. The washer/dryers are from a foreign country, no manual and they DO NOT work I had to air dry my laundry over the shower rod for my entire 12 month lease. The worst rental company I've ever rented from and I've had to move 6 times in 6 years so I know what I'm talking about. Overpriced you do NOT get what you pay for. read more

I have been a tenant at these Hazlewood apartments called Chezpareeapts for about 6+ years now. This company called Rebdrick took over sometime ago not really sure the year or date but it's been at least a year. Since they have taken over its been one problem after the next. I have been in my unit as I stated at beginning of this post for awhile and I understand there will be wear and tear after awhile but the way reb brick is treating me as a tenant is disrespectful and unsafe. Currently I was left over the holiday weekend with no hot water running from my bathroom sink and a stove that caught fire for the second time this past Fri morning. I was told by the property manager my stove would be replaced by the end of that business day and that my sink would be fixed. Neither happened and I was left with no stove to safely cook on for 3 days and not hot water in my sink to wash my hands or face. Instead of the management team calling me to inform me of why my stove was not replaced the maintenance supervisor told my mother who is currently visiting with me that the property doesn't have a stove to give me and that because it's late in the day they could not fix my sink. Excuses is what I get any time there is a maintenance issues. Red brick knew wed 4/5/23 that after they put the sink back in that day there was no running hot water as well as my toilet had no running water. And as for my toilet not running... well last tues red brick began working on the repairs in my bathroom that was originally reported last year 2022. After making several in person reports, portal reports, emails and major break downs the maintence manager (Herman) told me he would do ME a favor a try to get my bathroom fixed. I thought maintenence was part of my lease and not a personal favor??? They started with removing my toilet, sink, floor (including the concret below the tile), my bathroom door and the floor in my bathroom closet. The next day they pulled the floor they had just laid up as well as removed my sink and toilet again. They left my bathroom floor unfinished and the floor was just the wood and nails that they left laying around for me to step on. The toilet they sealed back down on Wed had no running water and my sink had no running water at ALL. The contractors they used used my personal towels to wipe up messes but didn't ask for permission and when I confronted them about it in front of the maintence manager they lied and said it was not mines. I showed the maintence manager the remaining set so he could see the men were lying. My towels have not been replaced. They used my shoes as door stops for keeping the apartment door open and besides the nails they left laying g around on the floor there was dust from them sawing inside my home everywhere including in my kitchen. That thurs they decided to take a break and not fix anything so at this point I still have no running hot water in my sink and my floors are still unfinished. Fri my stove caught fire while I was cooking breakfast and I had to call the fire department. After the fire men left I went to the apartment leasing office to report the issue and spoke with the property manager for a lengthy time. She assured me things would be all handled by the end of business day that day (fri.) I also informed her that due to the dust all throughout the apartment it was effecting my health. I sleep with a cpap at night and woke up fri morning with a nose bleed and inflammation in my sinus. I told them my apartment is unsafe and due to their negligence is now effecting my health. By the end of that fri the cheap tile (feels like sandpaper) was installed by a nice contractor who respected my space (home) and cleaned up after himself and a 2 man cleaning crew came through and sanitized my bathroom (from the saw dust left behind) and nothing else. Remember I said I had saw dust in my kitchen as thou the contractors had been using my kitchen to saw the wood they put on my floor. Well I'm tired of typing now so I'm just going to end my rant and say don't move into a Red Brick property if you are looking for a safe and comfortable space. I have more to this story/complaint but I think what I have typed and the pictured I will try to upload pictures to show how Red Brick treats tenant's here! read more

I moved to St. Louis to attend WashU for grad school and the worst decision I made in the process was signing a lease with RedBrick. Once I signed my lease to live at 4526 Olive Street, Redbrick was unresponsive. They ignore emails and phone calls. Before my lease ended in May 2020 (during the Covid-19 crisis) RedBrick ignored my phone calls and voice messages regarding how to properly vacate my leased unit. I resorted to reaching out to my former neighbors who both moved out about 10 days before me for guidance on how to vacate the unit. After moving out, RedBrick refused to issue me my security deposit - I threatened to sue to receive it. I've since signed a lease with a different management company and I'm much happier. My new management company cares about tenants and responds to issues within the building promptly. You will be stressed out dealing with RedBrick. I became friends with my Olive St. neighbors and we all shared similar frustrations with RedBrick. I read the reviews on Yelp and Google and thought I wouldn't get treated poorly or if I did it wouldn't be that bad because I had a 9-month lease. I WAS WRONG. I would not lease another apartment with RedBrick under any circumstances. read more

Don't be fooled by the beautiful exterior of the Milton. I have had my car window busted two times at this location. I even woke up early one morning to go to work to find someone attempting to break into the building. I have rented from Red Brick for several years and have not had any issues until living at this apartment complex. This is an unsafe area and I would not recommend renting at this location. Although the CWE Redbrick staff is nice over the phone, I mainly come in contact with the staff in their downtown location on Washington. I rent a loft from them and am anxiously waiting until my lease ends to move. One of the worst property management companies. The walls in Terrace lofts are paper thin. You can literally hear people's convos and smell any meal they cook. The elevators are always broken. The parking lot is shared with other buildings and hasn't been paved in God knows when. The downtown office staff are very condescending and have no knowledge of the properties they rent. Avoid renting from this company. Absolute trash - no redeeming qualities about this management. If you are a new client they will go well and beyond the call of action to get you in an apartment and into their ecosystem, but after that, you're ON YOUR OWN. None of my problems have been addressed or taken seriously. I had surveillance footage of multiple people trying to break into my apartment and was told THIS WAS JUST THE WAY IT IS. No promise or offer to look into heightened security. I had submitted countless maintenence requests that go unfulfilled until I call them everyday for two weeks and finally get someone here. ALL THE HORROR STORIES ARE TRUE. I don't know how they haven't been shut down! I've lived in Soulard for years and always looked at Red Brick apartments when considering a new place in the area. Today, I saw on their website they were closing at 5pm instead of 6pm (cardinals game was on). That's fine! I cancelled a meeting at work so I could leave early and make it around 4:15 to look at ONE apartment two blocks away. I called ahead of time twice- NO answer. I walk in at 4:10 (50 minutes before closing) and kindly ask to view one apartment. The desk associate's response was "Ohhh we're like, closing at 4:30..." I mentioned seeing their note on their website for closing at 5, and also say I was only interested in viewing one apartment. Her response "Yeah there's already someone looking at it. I'm not handing out any more keys..." I told her I left work early in order to make it here well before closing (which is already an hour earlier as usual). She changes her answer to "Oh I just CAN'T give out any more keys today SARRY!" And then proceeds to casually chat with some guy sitting across with her. I was fuming! This agency is the largest collection of useless employees who do just the bare minimum. Pete Rothchild is a complete slumlord and makes no attempt to fix that reputation. Their customer service for storefronts paying them a great deal of money each week is horrid. They base conclusion on lies and do nothing to rectify the problem that it was their fault as they push the blame on the tenants and refer to the lease as if the tenant cannot read. Their plumbing is not up code in several buildings and the sewage can be smelled from The streets of the Central West End. We have Red Brick to blame. The absolute worst management and I'm not even sure they have a maintenance department! Do not rent with them, you will regret it. If I only would have listened to my friend. If zero stars were possible to give I would. The apartments provided washing machine leaked and ruined the baseboard in a brand new loft over 6 months ago and no one has been out to see them or replace them after many requests for maintenance. Now, to the next issue of my bedroom light will be out for one month on 11/14 and no one has been out to change it. It is in a loft otherwise I would have changed it myself! I have called, emailed, left maintenance requests almost daily, and even went to their place of business and NOTHING! You may think that the light is not that big of a deal, however my apartment is pitch black. I am paying 1k a month to use my cell phone camera and candles to navigate through my apartment. Bunch of crooks. Maintenance sucks. High priced apartments. Do not rent from them. Leaving red brick was the best decision I've ever made.

The management is completely apathetic and keeps quoting some random "policy" - I'm not even sure what it is - I think they make it up as they go. I asked for mail service because I had to make an emergency work trip for 3 weeks and they refused claiming that it was too much of a "liability" - I even offered to draft and sign a liability waiver. The best part is that upon entering my apartment at around 6:00 pm on Friday, I realized that the smoke alarm on my 14-foot ceiling was constantly letting off a shrill beep. Apparently, emergency services will not respond, because of "policy" - it's not an emergency until my apartment is on fire and - and they have refused to fix it for me until Monday. They couldn't care less. There's no proper recycling facility or anything. I wish I had read these reviews before I rented from them. Can't wait to end my lease. read more

Due to a number of circumstances I felt very unsafe in the apartment I rented through Red Brick. I wanted to move out before my lease was up and after some pushing back and forth between me and their rental manager we eventually reached a satisfactory arrangement and I moved out. If they had granted my requests for improved safety I would have considered staying. Other than feeling unsafe, the apartment was well-kept and any issues were quickly resolved, whether it was a payment miscalculation or maintenance problems. PLEASE DO NOT RENT WITH THEM within my first week I found cockroaches in the building, I reported it and they planned a treatment. They ended up skipping doing my apartment even though I reported the issue. I had pets that were supposed to go to a vacant unit, but instead they booked showings in the unit for that day and we got neglected and never addressed again. Our buzzer has not work since we moved in, and we have brought this up since the first week we moved in. No plan to fix the issue is in play, we have just been told it doesn't work - and we have sent over 5-6 emails asking about compensation with proof this has caused a financial in convince, and have bene nothing but ignored. I told them we would be a few days late on rent (told them 2 weeks in advance and actually ended up paying early and not being late) and they issued an eviction notice even though we had already paid and they knew weeks in advance there might be a few days delay (which there was not but they still issued an eviction notice for "non payment") . Very unprofessional and also illegal. I was actually told after being neglected, harassed, and robbed by red brick that I should try to find someone to take over my lease. TL:DR: Don't waste your time. Don't let the nice apartments fool you, the property management is a total joke and all they care about is $$$. If I could give this trash company a zero or negative rating I would. While my girlfriend and I love the apartment and location, we have had too many issues regarding maintenance that it's just not worth it anymore. I've been living in my apartment for almost 16mo. Within the first 4mo our AC went out, literally blowing warm air into the apartment. Requested maintenance and they told us everything was working as expected. Had to threaten legal action to get them to call an actual HVAC professional to come look at it. Of course the HVAC guy said there were parts that needed replacing because they had shorted. Come to find out a month later when the AC went out again (during +100 degree weather I might add) that Red Brick "didn't authorize the repair to the unit" so we had been living with a broken unit for the entirety of our lease there up till that point. The inside temp got so hot (89 degrees) that we had to stay in a hotel while Red Brick neglected to even return our emails requesting that they come fix immediately. After almost 3mo (basically the whole summer) of arguing, literally being lied to which I quickly disproved thanks to data from my Nest thermostat, and trying Red Brick's "solution" of installing two window AC units at my personal expense, we finally had working AC in the apartment. Fast forward to now. Our AC does not work again. April 2018 we requested maintenance to service the unit....again. HVAC guy tells us that our unit was completely empty of freon and that he thinks there's a major leak. Red Brick claims they didn't know anything about it and has them refill the unit with freon. AC unit still doesn't cool the apartment and I'm literally arguing with them now trying to make them see that window units (which did absolutely nothing but exponen read more

I have experienced so many problems since Terrece Lofts changed management to RedBrick. They have not opened the pool appropriately and its been 2 years since they bought this building. I understand COVID but in my lease ot states I have access to amenities. Let me know via email or call if you are not going to open the pool due to COVID (despite other buildings opening their pool). Also Redbrick does not keep track of records very well, very disorganized. This company has also charged me for multiple utilities that should be paid for by Redbrick (states that in my lease). Huge regret! I lived in a small building owned by this company for a year and it was a nightmare. I'll list the major issues for this not to become a book 1) Received a dirty unit: They said I couldn't move in the date I wanted for the apartment to be cleaned. When I got there it was completely dirty. Not like someone didn't clean it properly. No one cleaned it at all. Not to forget that I had to relocate to another hotel with all my stuff to receive the "clean apartment" 2) Gave me the wrong set of keys: In day 1, they gave me the wrong keys and when I tried to get in, the office was already closed. I (and the guy delivering my mattress) had to wait for the maintenance guy to come and deliver the right keys so we could get in -the dirty apartment-. 3) The water heater is OK for the summer. Useless in the winter. It's what is called a half-tank. It wasn't broken, it just wasn't capable of heating the water during the winter. When my family visited, I had to take showers at work bc we wouldn't have hot water for all of us. 4)Noise from 5:30 a.m.: Usually this is not directly owner's fault, but in this case there was a construction right next to the building -actually next to my window-. Who were they constructing the building for? Red brick! Red brick told me that I would get a discount during the construction, but it would last 4 months and I should expect noise on weekdays after 8am. So, I agreed to move there. Reality: Insane noise everyday -sometimes during Sundays-. Often starting at 5:30 am. And the construction kept going for at least 7 months. I sent many messages, when I was lucky, they would reply within a week, but nothing would change. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE. 5) Walls were thinner than a curtain: Technically there was a wall between me and my neighbor, but in reality, it was like living together when it came to noise. Other disappointments could be listed, but I think this is enough to give an idea. The unit looked nice and I was lured by being the first person living in a brand new unit. But, waking up at 5:30 am against my will reminded me that a brand new fridge (which wasn't even my) would never make up for that terrible experience. I ended up moving out 2 months before my lease was over. Obviously, I had to pay until the end, but it was worth getting out of that place. Love my new place and I never want to step on Red Brick's sidewalk again. This is not the first unit I've rented in the US. Before Red Brick, I could never imagine that property management could have such an impact in my experience, so I just picked an apartment regardless of many red flags in Red Brick's services. Well... I wish I could go back. I've moved out, lease is over. There's nothing I want from the company, but I wanted to share this in case I can help someone else avoiding the same mistake. read more

I live in Mount Pleasant apartments and I have only been here since June and have had so many issues . Their has been a huge ongoing issue with a drug dealer dealing out the building and crackheads hanging around the building along with sneaking into the building behind people to get in. There was a drug bust in the buildings OWN parking lot with about ten police cars .My apartment was disgusting before moving in , I had to mop and thoroughly clean my place myself ! Their is also a huge gnat and bug problem as I've called maintenance about the issue two weeks ago and just lately roaches popping up . I moved my refrigerator trying to solve the mystery and stove and so many dead bugs underneath . Disgusting . I was offered a transfer but told to pay a 350 dollar fee and new deposit . Unfair, and an inconvenience . Not even morally right . I don't suggest moving under their management at all!!! read more

Moving from San Francisco was a big deal for us. Packing up the car with all of our stuff, our two dogs and a cat, and driving across the country in the winter time is a rough experience. So I was very, VERY happy to walk into my beautiful loft for the first time. Red Brick Management has succeeded (in the last year and a half) at being a reliable, honest, and financially responsible landlord for us. They are professional, and although they put you through the ringer during the leasing process (paperwork overload!) it all ends up balancing out because of the level of trust that I felt in their professional integrity. I have dealt with both types of landlords in the past: Gigantic, corporate entities who own hundreds of buildings and treat you very much as a number in their roster of tenants and having just one guy who owned only our property only. Red Brick Management seems to fall somewhere in between. You get the benefits of having a company who is experienced, as well as fairly personal service when you need it. For instance, both spring seasons that we have lived here our air conditioner has required repair (basic stuff, just a new filter and freon). I put in the maintenance request in the morning, and someone came that same day to fix it. We also went through some financial trouble when Simon couldn't find a job, and when approached, Red Brick offered to let us move to one of their cheaper apartments without charging us anything. I am taking off one star because I do feel like our building could be more secure. We have approached them about adding real locking doors to the parking area but have not had our requests granted. Perhaps if we pushed for that more it would've happened-- but sometimes as they say, you've got to pick your battles. Overall, I say "Thank you" to Red Brick Management for really upholding your half of this deal. read more

It is incredibly amusing to read some of the cognitive bias in the reviews for Red Brick. The self proclaimed construction expert who conveniently left out the part about living in a historical neighborhood. The lady with a drug dealer for a neighbor who seems to think it is Red Bricks responsibility to play the role of law enforcement. Also anyone claiming they moved into a dirty unit; you are required to sign a move in checklist. Also not mentioned. Enough soapbox talk. Red Brick gets a bad rap. If you are an adult, who can communicate like one, you will have no problems. Every reasonable request I've made from Red Brick has been handled professionally, in a timely manner. PLEASE keep in mind that a historic building has certain requirements. Keep in mind that STL police is your local law enforcement. Worst experience ever. I would not recommend Red Brick to anyone. Horrible management!!! If you ever have problems in your apt and need something to be fixed good luck waiting for the maintenance tech! Before moving out I cleaned the whole apartment perfectly. After moving out of the place, they charged me $85.00 for not cleaning a 20 year old oven that was barely used and was perfectly clean. They even charged me $40.00 for not cleaning the toilet and $40.00 for not cleaning the ceiling vents that I could not even reach. I thought the letter was a joke. They make up some random charges so they can steal your money. Stay away from RED BRICK!! read more

I called them in November 2015 about some lofts, they showed me several and when I followed up the next day it took about a week to hear back. Then I tried again in January 2016 (shame on me!), it took them 9 days to get back to me after my initial call/email then when I did see the available units it took 8 days to hear back and during that time I lost the units I wanted. I can only imagine the property management considering my experience just trying to rent!! read more

This is by far the worst company myself or my fiancé have ever rented from - we have both been renting in several different states for over 10 years. Some issues we encountered: - They tried to increase our rent on our lease contract after we had already put down a deposit on the apartment. I had to show them screenshots of their website showing the price ($100 less) before they would agree. When I told them I would not sign a contract at the increased price they said we would have to forfeit our deposit. Honestly, I wish I had just done that and lived somewhere else looking back. - Maintenance is incapable of fixing even uncomplicated issues, and it can take weeks or even months to get things fixed. It took over a month to get my toilet fixed (it was either constantly running or wouldn't flush) which was a huge issue as I was 8 months pregnant at the time. - Maintenance, on two occasions did "repairs" on our apartment that led to our downstairs neighbor's apartment being flooded. Not a good way to make friends. - An account was opened in my name without my consent for sewer, water, and trash when it was explicitly stated in my rental agreement that these things were included in our monthly rent. I had to call this company, get cussed out, have Red Brick call the company, and pay to get a copy of my lease agreement sent to them to get the account closed. This would have been an additional $30/month which lord only knows how much it would have cost on the month that they let my toilet run continuously. - My sink overflowed and they told me it would be a week for them to fix it. I had to threaten them to get it fixed faster than that. - They let us go 3 days without a door on our apartment when I had a 6 week old baby, making the apartment completely uninhabitable (it was the middle of winter) so I had to stay with family. Had I not threatened them saying I would call the city to complain it would have taken longer. - When they did finally replace the door they decided to cut part of it with a circular saw on top of my fiancé's $1,000 grill, ruining it. - We had a total of three property managers in the year we lived at the residence, each ruder and more incompetent than the last. No matter how polite we were we frequently had to take issues and maintenance requests to higher ups in the company as we would either get no response at all, or be pushed around with nothing being done. - After we moved out, our deposit was not returned within the 30 days mandated by Missouri state law. - Red Brick tried to keep over $500 of our deposit for carpet replacement saying that our cat damaged the carpet. The only explanation they provided was a quote from a company and photos of the carpet AFTER it had already been ripped out, showing staining. I sent them photos of the same stains from when I moved in, which were documented on our move-in paperwork. They told me that all of those documents and photos are completely meaningless. Two of our neighbors had moved out while we lived in the building, and Red Brick replaced carpet in both of the units, and these neighbors did not have pets. I feel that it was simply time to replace the carpet and they wanted us to foot the bill. Thankfully, I was able to get the remainder of our deposit back but I believe they only returned it because they knew that they had violated Missouri law by not returning it with an explanation within the 30 day window. I can certainly write more, but I think you get the idea. I had been warned by several friends and neighbors about this company and their practices, and I wish I had listened. I hope my review will save someone else the trouble of dealing with such an awful company. read more

I can't believe this place still exists. I know so many people who have been screwed by them. I had one friend who never even lived in the place she rented from them because she has allergies and the place was covered in mold that the company wouldn't do anything about. Ive got about ten more stories at least as bad as that. read more

I have lived in a red brick apartment on Cherokee Street for a year now. I have made all of my rent payments on time. After having a couple difficult months with my service job, I asked (at a face to face renewal meeting in january) about any possible forgiveness on paying rent late in February. Adrienne said she'd "be happy to waive the late fee for me as a one time courtesy, as long as (they) hadn't done so already before for me.." I said "ok so worst case scenario I pay Feb and March both together and I'd be good?" She responded "yes." So even though I could've made the payment on time like all the others, I took her up on her offer as it was a help the first week of Feb. Without pulling out my lease details to be sure (def shouldn't have trusted them), I started to wonder if this would actually be ok.. I emailed Adrienne for help, she responded "no, anything unpaid by the 15th would be sent to their attorney." Glad I emailed to confirm at least! .. At that point, Feb 5th, I setup an echeck to send on the 8th and arrive to Red Brick by the 14th, to avoid any issues. I logged on to their website yesterday, the 14th, to see that the Feb rent had arrived. There was not one late fee, there were two late fees on there. Finally got a hold of her on the phone this morning (she didn't reply to my email questions just called and left a vm with no info just said she was "confused."), she said that she would remove one of the fees, but not the second.. I tried to let her know how frustrating this was to me, but she kept interrupting me. Based on the conversation we had in January, all I knew was if I did decided to pay rent late, she'd remove the late fee attached to it.. it would've been helpful to know there is also a second late fee charged on the 12th.. I could've avoided all of this if she would've given me the courtesy of giving me the info - instead saying "yes, we can remove A late fee for you, but a second one will be charged if it's not paid by the 12th, and anything not paid by the 15th gets sent to our attorney." Instead of trying to have any understanding, and agreeing there was a possible miscommunication at our meeting, she told me she didn't say that (and I'm a liar I guess?). Again, prior to this everything was peachy for 11months and I never paid rent late.. I emailed immediately after the conversation today letting her and the company know that I will not be renewing ever again with red brick. What a horrible experience... She even said "I don't even have to remove ONE of the fees if I don't want to!" Wow. Yea I guess at this point I should know anything I don't have her recorded saying on tape is "inadmissible." I wish I would've just renewed the lease from home then I wouldn't have had the opportunity to be mislead in person at my renewal meeting. The renewal meeting in January also could've included a reminder that there would be a new, second, $159 security deposit withdrawal from my checking account after signing it. That came as a surprise and almost bounced my checking account. Adrienne, the "property manager" for my building, also hasn't been able or willing for weeks to provide me with an explanation of how this building's water bill is figured.. My bill has gone up by one dollar each month for 12 months since I moved in, and a tenant in the front building says they don't even pay a water bill.. ? Horrible service. Maybe you should consider paying your employees better or providing them some incentive to retain tenants? She just ruined a good relationship over $35.. Place isn't even that nice; Paint drips all over the floor, chipped up tub, sink, and tile floors (very eneven), worn out carpet.. cheap renovation. And probably a bit overpriced bc both buildings at my address have been 1/2 unoccupied for the majority of my year here (cold floor$ / heat ri$e$).. I'm out as soon as my lease is up. Red Brick? Never again. Don't do it. read more
