I have gone to this dentist for years and never had issues until a few years ago. I have always…read moregone to the twins for my cleanings because they are who I am comfortable with. They were friends with my parents back in high school and they actually care about you. Well around 3 ish years ago they switched me away from the twins to somebody else. I was less comfortable and was unsure of her. I went to her two times and just did not get a good feeling from her. She tried to pressure me into buying a electric toothbrush because they are better ( not everybody can afford these ) and just gave off a bad vibe in general like she was very disappointed in me even though I have always tried to have good oral health. Well my last visit i had requested to be with one of the twins when I scheduled and was told I would be with one of them. I got there and was put with Cara. I thought no big deal she seems friendly. We got to the room and we went over the basic things med/ allergies/ new medical History and such. She then looked into my mouth and immediately said I had gingivitis. I brush my teeth twice a day and floss almost every day so this was a surprise to me. She then stated that since I have gingivitis I would need a gingivitis cleaning. I said okay and she started. During the cleaning her bedside manner was a 2/10. She did not seem interested in me and the only time she was interested was when I told her I was a c-pap and bi-pap specialist and this woman looked at me and asked if I had been tested for sleep apnea. As a plus size person I know I'm at a higher risk of getting it but to have somebody in a medical field look at you like that and feel like your being judge due to your weight when all you wanted was your teeth to be cleaned makes your blood boil. I informed her I had been tested twice and both times I came back as not having it. She then never asked me any other questions during the whole session. The cleaning was just as long if not shorter than a regular cleaning and she had to use no special tools or treatments. She told me she wanted me to come back in a month (I will be canceling this appointment) for another gingivitis cleaning. She scheduled me and I went up front to check out when then and only then I was informed that my insurance did not fully cover this type of cleaning and that I now had an out of pocket cost. Cara never mentioned a price change in any way shape or form. I asked for the print out of the bill and they were charging 233$ for the cleaning when it was the same amount of time and effort as a normal cleaning that costs 75$ and is 100% covered by insurance. I was extremely mad at this point and just paid and left. I let myself calm down during my drive home and called the office when I got home and let them know they had just broken the law. Under the Surprise billing act there is a second act inside of it just for dentist. They are to always give a "Good Faith Estimate" for survives provided when a patient has no insurance or their insurance does not fully cover the cost of the treatment. The only time this does not apply to something is for emergency's. They told me they would get back to me and called me a bit later and let me know they would be giving me a full refund but I was still very upset. The "cleaning" she had done had left bruises all over my mouth and still a week later I'm having issues with pain in certain parts of my mouth when I floss before bed. I have already scheduled a new patient appointment with another dentist. I have been going here for 10+ years and have watched the whole place go down hill since Lisa took over and re branded the place from red arrow dentistry to lighthouse dentistry. I would not recommend this place to anybody. For those who don't wanna read the whole thing I'll make a small list for you 1. The twins are amazing if you go here as for them 2. Cara has no bedside manner 3. There office was unaware of the Surprise Billing act and that it actually does apply to them under the Good Faith billing act 4. Lisa lets her technicians diagnose people 5. Lisa only spends 2 minutes if that with you 6. If you look over weight Cara will ask you if you have been tested for Sleep apnea because all fat people are the same. 7. Just don't go here.

I made the decision which was both time consuming and financially impactful to switch Orthodontists 6 months into treatment with the other said office (the investment financially would not be refunded, as well as time being that their office is very close to me and Dr. Thomas is a 20 min drive each way). Even my first consult with Dr. Thomas made me feel at ease with his office. He was both kind and empathetic to the situation I was coming from. I had a long road ahead and seeing the difference from office to office I now know what great hands I am in. We removed the braces from the previous office, allowed my teeth to stabilize and then started completely over. Dr. Thomas takes his time and really puts all that he has into his patients and ensuring their smile and end goals are clear and articulated in a way that I could understand. Now, being well into my treatment with this office I couldn't recommend them more. I feel informed, respected and know this is the type of experience everyone should have - especially when it comes to something as important as your smile!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Dr. Andrew Bargren and his wife Dr. Luz Bargren are the dentists at the Lakeshore Family Dental…read morepractice. To distinguish between the two, they refer to themselves as "Dr. Bargren" (the husband); and "Dr. Luz" (the wife). Our children have been seen by both of them. We left our prior (local) dental practice due to it not being very kid-friendly, and they would not allow parents to go into the back room with our children during procedures. We had to wait in the front waiting area. I was not comfortable with that arrangement. So I was relieved and pleased to find a practice that encourages (even requires) parental presence during our kids' visits. Dr. Bargren has a kind, calm demeanor and a soothing voice. He is really great with our kids (ages 5-11). He explains clearly but succinctly - to us (the parents) AND to the children - what he is going to do, and asks if the kids have any questions. He explains things like a patient teacher. During the procedure, he is super attentive to their comfort and is quickly responsive to subtle cues that convey discomfort or pain, like the slightest wince. I've been particularly impressed with how he looks our children in the eye and removes his mouth covering (surgical mask) when explaining things so that they can see his mouth, and he looks more 'human' (maybe less scary) to the kids. : ) My own experience has led me to see dentistry as an art. There is a lot of detail, intricacy and skill that goes into, for example, the forming of a filling to maintain the shape and appearance of a healthy, perfect tooth - and the original tooth - as closely as possible. Dr. Luz is extremely attentive to such detail. She seems to be a bit of a perfectionist in her craft, which impresses me. I've seen her ask the assistant (on several occasions) to redo the plaster mold of our kids' teeth due to a tiny bubble. She wants the work done to the highest standard. She makes the dentist office a good experience for our kids with her positive feedback to them, frequently commending them for being great patients. While these two dentists are individuals with unique strengths, both are top-notch professionals who maintain a great work ethic and high standards of quality in their craft. And from a parents' perspective, it's important to us that they are kind, patient-focused, ethical, and emanate a positive energy that helps our kids actually enjoy going to the dentist. The Bargrens possess all of these qualities. The office staff is also wonderful. The receptionists are all super helpful, accommodating, and friendly. They took time to explain some details about our insurance (and print some paperwork) that was above and beyond our expectation of their duties. They also try hard to accommodate us for emergency procedures. Once when our son had a toothache they were able to schedule him to come in within just a few hours! (I don't know if that's standard practice, but we were pretty amazed.) The office itself is clean, with a nice "homey" waiting area with plenty of comfy seating and good reading material. They have a couple of fun spaces for kids with puzzles, toys, and a train table. They have free toothbrushes and toothpaste out for patients to choose from. And we are almost always greeted as we enter.

Madison, who has had some pretty big shoes to fill, is doing a great job at her front desk position. Always calling to remind patients about their appointments and to take any necessary meds for procedures, etc. And Dr. Matt!? There are not enough good things that can be said about him! Kind, considerate, can explain things so you can understand it, keeps things as pain free as possible, quick but thorough, all that and then some! I know parents who took their child to him and said he was so great with them, putting their fears at ease, keeping the "scary" stuff out of sight, causing as little pain as possible and giving kids time to get comfortable. I went to that clinic as a child, when Dr. Matt's father and his partner were running it, and started again as an adult responsible for my own teeth. Dr. Matt saved what most probably would have given up on. I've not "priced" other dentists, but I feel that they are worth every penny I've spent, even when everything came out of my pocket. You couldn't pay me to go anywhere else for dental care!!
