Worst dental experience I have had as an adult. They told me at my appt that I had to have laughing gas but did not tell me it was not covered by my insurance. I have never had it in my life. I had to have a broken molar extracted. I had an infection that went into the nerve. It was you have it or I don't get the service. So I did it and tried very hard to not breathe it in. I was not given antibiotics, pain medications or a prescribed anti-inflammatory like prednisone because I could not take ibuprofen. I was so sick from the gas and ended up at the walk in clinic. Dr. ended up in jail for something and I got the bill for last August 2025 two weeks ago - June 2026 with no breakdown of costs. Just $1900 and a charge for the laughing gas denied because I was too old to have it supposedly. Seriously? Worst customer service and patient care. Also I could have used my FSA, and now I can't of course. read more

Been going here for a year now and I haven't 1 good experience. Dentist is always late and inconsiderate and not helpful at all so my wife and I started looking at finding another family dentist so we found one and they requested dental records so we requested our dental records from St Joseph Dentistry and not only did they send them over the records but they canceled my whole families cleaning appointments without letting us know. I called and receptionist and she was very rude and said she was contacted awhile back and was told to cancel the appointments which did not happen. Not surprised tho. The business is a money maker with little to no customer appreciation and as the customer I've always felt like an inconvenience. 0 stars. By the looks of the reviews I'm not the only one that has had issues here. I'll be fair. The office is nice, and so are the staff members. However, waiting to tell someone that their insurance is not accepted until after the appointment, forcing them to pay $490, is a bit unethical. Was discriminated against when I told them I had gotten injured bad in my upper lip and needed to possibly try to get stitches because of the bleeding 48 hours prior to my appointment - even talked to the office manager Tammy - I was not treated with respect or kindness and I will honestly investigate if that form of discrimination is even legal. I never said I would t make the appointment I just said I felt it would hurt and might make it rough on hygienist if I'm opening up wide making it bleed more on her and myself. BEWARE. Our daughter has two abscessed, infected teeth that require extraction. Dr. Bernard saw her on 8/24/2022 and recommended extraction of four teeth, but specifically asked us to consult with an orthodontist prior to extraction. We did as we were asked, and the orthodontist recommended extraction of only the two infected teeth. The orthodontist provided this recommendation to Dr. Bernard prior to our visit. We talked to St. Joseph Dentistry staff about the conflicting opinions, and we were told that it would be worked out when we arrived for our extraction appointment. This morning, 9/21/2022, we arrived for our extraction appointment. Our 8 year old daughter was in pain from the infected teeth and we were eager for a remedy. When we asked about the competing opinions (four teeth vs. two teeth) we were informed by the hygienist that "Dr. Bernard does not like having his plan questioned." We simply wanted Dr. Bernard to explain to us why he recommended removing four teeth instead of two. When we pressed for an explanation, we were told that Dr. Bernard would not deviate from his plan. We would have liked an explanation from him, but ultimately decided that we would proceed with Dr. Bernard's plan because our daughter was in pain and we trust that the dentist knows better than we do. However, we were informed that because we dared to ask questions of Dr. Bernard and his plan, we were no longer welcome at the practice. Utterly shocked, I asked who the managing dentist was. Dr. Howenstine came to talk to us, and we reiterated that we would be fully willing to proceed with Dr. Bernard's plan, and couldn't believe they would turn away our suffering child because we asked questions about a second opinion that they themselves asked us to get. Dr. Howenstine was unapologetic and suggested we find another dentist. Aside from being a horrible experience, this is a violation of the ADA's Code of Ethics, Section 2.F. Dentists have an ethical (and legal) obligation not to abandon patients in need of immediate care. The fact that Dr. Bernard violated this ethical obligation simply because his ego could not withstand answering a few questions about treatment for a child is unconscionable. Dr. Howenstine's apparent endorsement of this behavior fares little better in our view. Please, do yourself a favor and find a dentist that does not violate ethical canon at the expense of a child in retaliation for the minor crime of being asked a few questions. read more

I was happy with this office until I tried making our most recent appts. They canceled them and won't allow us to go back because of an insurance change before one of my kids extraction appts. They charged $900 to pull out baby teeth that were just hanging on for too long. I assumed it as covered and received a bill for it. I am a single mom with one paycheck and it took me a while to come up with the money and when I did, I paid in full. They sent my other child to a surgeon to have a cyst removed from her gums. So she doesn't get to return to the dentist that diagnosed her because her mom was too poor to drop 900 when the bill came. I have a new dental policy that puts this office in network but instead of verifying that, I have to find a new dentist. Again, I owe them $0, I paid in full, but they have blacklisted my family for having to wait until I had the money that I didn't realize I would need. They should have been able to tell me during his appt that it wouldn't be covered. read more

She was so gentle when she worked on my teeth. When I met with the dentist she reviewed my gums, teeth, head and neck. She had a sweet spirit. None of the staff members in this office were wearing masks. For a pediatric dentist, I was shocked by this. An extremely uncomfortable experience and ridiculous for a place that provides healthcare for children during a pandemic. I had an appointment for a checkup and cleaning, woke up with a terrible sore throat, had to call and cancel at last minute. Was told that any future appointments would require a $100 deposit at time of appointment. The girl on the phone wanted to get my credit card information for the future. I told her I didn't feel well enough to be on the phone or to come into the office. The same thing happened to my friend, who had Covid at the time. Wile I was satisfied with my previous experience with them, I doubt I will return to this practice. read more

This is the best dentist I've ever been to. I was so relaxed. They have massage chairs and TVs on the ceiling and give you sunglasses because it's so bright. They took such good care of me. Awesome experience. Technically they are cutting edge. Personally you can tell that they strive for a great experience. I usually walk in and the receptionist greets me by name and says that I am checked in. I am called back within 5 minutes. Just extend this to checkout. The dentist is friendly and always concerned with you in managing discomfort. Everything is explained well and they work with you to arrive at a treatment plan. The people are friendly and calming. They explain everything, instant x-rays and in a place you can see them also! You get "sunglasses" with the all so familiar bib. There is not a bright light above you that always blinds you instead they have a tv in its place! They chairs are comfortable and they vibrate!
