Their practice is an assembly line. What's more; is their abject approach to a hard sell. I was referred to this place by a dentist in Elkhart, little did I perceive that I would not be receiving any immediately relevant care, but end up walking out as the winner of a sweepstakes (of dental services) I didn't even know I would need in the present, or future. How kind of them. As an ex-salesperson I can appreciate the subtlety of their pitch. Hindsight being twenty/twenty. I'd be dubious of any dentist who referred to this place. The whole thing reeks. And not just of bad breath. Stay away from this place. It's nothing more than Henry Ford's wet dream of dentistry.

Unprofessional phone calls and conversations, just rude and inefficient all the way around. He has made some of the sweetest women that I know cry. I knew coming in that I had a LOT of work to be done, and was so relieved that Dr. Miller wasn't tsk-tsking me about not going in sooner. He just told me about the extent of the damage, and discussed the work that needed to be done without any shaming or judgment. Another great thing about his office is that he's very willing to work with your schedule (he was about to schedule me for an appointment during his lunch time!). One thing that needs some updating is his billing system though because it's very confusing to understand. I'll make a payment at the office, but then I'd get a bill to my house. When I brought the bill into the office to pay, the receptionist said that I should wait "until the end" to settle the account. What does that even mean? If I didn't need to pay, why was I billed? Oh, well. It's a small matter given how awesome everything else is.

I offered to come sit in the waiting room hoping they could find 5 minutes between appointments to take a look. But sadly the staff would not help me short of making an appointment for the end of that day. I went right to Aspen Dental in Benton Harbor, they did not know me but had me in a chair within 20 minutes of walking in the door. Aspen took immediate action and probably saved my life. I still ended up being hospitalized for 4 days and according to the doctors, my dental emergency that would have killed me was likely a result of recent work I had done at Dr. Millers office.

Sharing a terrible experience with inconsistent dental care from providers as well as…read moreunprofessional office personnel. A teenager was seen by Dr Balsis which recommended postponing a deciduous tooth extraction 6 months to a year. Upon follow visit at six months, a different provider, Dr Bauman, refused extraction and referred to a specialist ultimately costing an absorbent amount compared to initial extraction. They should have taken care of this in the first place and not wasted time and money down the road. Either Dr. Balsis needs to do his job correctly the first time or Dr. Bauman should thoroughly review prior care and consult with the previous doctor and medial records. Dr Bauman has never attended to this patient ever to begin with and they just plan to pawn the patient off on a specialist now. In addition, the hygenist had to even approach the accompanying adult in the lobby to inquire which dentist the patient sees regularly rather than reviewing previous medical record. After scheduling follow up consult with an outside provider, Berrien Dental declined medical record release to new facility. The curmudgeon office personnel stated that the records were withheld due to outstanding balance of adult sibling of the patient. The adult sibling has no bearing on the minors medical care. The curmudgeon personnel was holding records hostage until the non responsible party reconciled account. The minor or the accompanying adult had no financial obligation the adult sibling. Due to lack of communication and patient care in addition to unprofessional office personnel, this dental practice should never be referred to anyone. Their sole purpose is to line their pockets and ego.

The new owner, is efficient but not very people friendly. The previous office staff was knowledgeable in billing, insurance and taking care of the patient's financial responsibility. Now, they are not only charging more for almost every service, but the billing and insurance is a complete mess. We needed to change our dental insurance company and called to make sure Modern would take what we were considering. They said absolutely 'yes', so we signed up. After routine cleanings, and xrays for me, we received a bill for nearly $600. as our payable. When I asked about it they said they were not actually 'in network' for the insurance company. I explained we made our choice base on making sure with them it was a company they worked with before we signed up ... to no avail. It fell on deaf ears - when it comes to the new owner Andrea the priority is the money, not doing the right thing by her patients. Save your self time and grief and go elsewhere. We have found another 5 star dentist in the area that whose staff are excellent, friendly, took our insurance information first so we are not being charged unfairly. The new Modern is in business only to make money, and not what the old Modern was all about - namely taking care of their patients in all aspects. If you look at the reviews you will notice that most of the good ones are from the past, and the newer reviews are like mine - they are overcharging both the insurance companies and their patients. Maybe it's just a sign of the times - money is the major priority and taking care of people is a distant thought. But please be aware there are alternatives out there who still do the right thing by their patients - this outfit is not one of them!

I feel as though he sold me a bill of goods knowing full well that the end result was going to be braces all along. I then had 3 consultations with other orthodontists, one of whom was a school friends father. I told none of them that she had been using a retainer or was recommended for braces. All 3 told me my daughter should have been in braces a year prior minimum...one said 2 years. Dr. Wong will use you as a source of revenue without regard for your childs dental health.
