Teeth cleaned! Good job! Recommend them to other people! Friendly and courteous gave appointment…read moretimes for the next cleaning!

I have gone to this dentist for years and never had issues until a few years ago. I have always…read moregone to the twins for my cleanings because they are who I am comfortable with. They were friends with my parents back in high school and they actually care about you. Well around 3 ish years ago they switched me away from the twins to somebody else. I was less comfortable and was unsure of her. I went to her two times and just did not get a good feeling from her. She tried to pressure me into buying a electric toothbrush because they are better ( not everybody can afford these ) and just gave off a bad vibe in general like she was very disappointed in me even though I have always tried to have good oral health. Well my last visit i had requested to be with one of the twins when I scheduled and was told I would be with one of them. I got there and was put with Cara. I thought no big deal she seems friendly. We got to the room and we went over the basic things med/ allergies/ new medical History and such. She then looked into my mouth and immediately said I had gingivitis. I brush my teeth twice a day and floss almost every day so this was a surprise to me. She then stated that since I have gingivitis I would need a gingivitis cleaning. I said okay and she started. During the cleaning her bedside manner was a 2/10. She did not seem interested in me and the only time she was interested was when I told her I was a c-pap and bi-pap specialist and this woman looked at me and asked if I had been tested for sleep apnea. As a plus size person I know I'm at a higher risk of getting it but to have somebody in a medical field look at you like that and feel like your being judge due to your weight when all you wanted was your teeth to be cleaned makes your blood boil. I informed her I had been tested twice and both times I came back as not having it. She then never asked me any other questions during the whole session. The cleaning was just as long if not shorter than a regular cleaning and she had to use no special tools or treatments. She told me she wanted me to come back in a month (I will be canceling this appointment) for another gingivitis cleaning. She scheduled me and I went up front to check out when then and only then I was informed that my insurance did not fully cover this type of cleaning and that I now had an out of pocket cost. Cara never mentioned a price change in any way shape or form. I asked for the print out of the bill and they were charging 233$ for the cleaning when it was the same amount of time and effort as a normal cleaning that costs 75$ and is 100% covered by insurance. I was extremely mad at this point and just paid and left. I let myself calm down during my drive home and called the office when I got home and let them know they had just broken the law. Under the Surprise billing act there is a second act inside of it just for dentist. They are to always give a "Good Faith Estimate" for survives provided when a patient has no insurance or their insurance does not fully cover the cost of the treatment. The only time this does not apply to something is for emergency's. They told me they would get back to me and called me a bit later and let me know they would be giving me a full refund but I was still very upset. The "cleaning" she had done had left bruises all over my mouth and still a week later I'm having issues with pain in certain parts of my mouth when I floss before bed. I have already scheduled a new patient appointment with another dentist. I have been going here for 10+ years and have watched the whole place go down hill since Lisa took over and re branded the place from red arrow dentistry to lighthouse dentistry. I would not recommend this place to anybody. For those who don't wanna read the whole thing I'll make a small list for you 1. The twins are amazing if you go here as for them 2. Cara has no bedside manner 3. There office was unaware of the Surprise Billing act and that it actually does apply to them under the Good Faith billing act 4. Lisa lets her technicians diagnose people 5. Lisa only spends 2 minutes if that with you 6. If you look over weight Cara will ask you if you have been tested for Sleep apnea because all fat people are the same. 7. Just don't go here.

There are no private spaces as such when technicians are actually "working," on your teeth-you are literally placed and seated on a medical chair among a row [of other patients] without even the dignity of a partition. Their practice is an assembly line. What's more; is their abject approach to a hard sell. I was referred to this place by a dentist in Elkhart, little did I perceive that I would not be receiving any immediately relevant care, but end up walking out as the winner of a sweepstakes (of dental services) I didn't even know I would need in the present, or future. How kind of them. As an ex-salesperson I can appreciate the subtlety of their pitch. Hindsight being twenty/twenty. I'd be dubious of any dentist who referred to this place. The whole thing reeks. And not just of bad breath. Stay away from this place. It's nothing more than Henry Ford's wet dream of dentistry.

Where to start with this "man" Dr. Harrington. First of all anyone who knows the small community…read morethat he works in in Michigan knows that word gets around, all you have to do is ask around and you'll discover all of the horror stories and unhappy (women mainly because he mistreats women) to know how unprofessional he is. I have heard stories of his workers that he makes cry, but personally this dude thought he could scold me and put his finger in my face after hours because of a miscommunication on his staffs part. Unprofessional phone calls and conversations, just rude and inefficient all the way around. He has made some of the sweetest women that I know cry. There are plenty of others to choose from, stay away.
