This the local grocery store in Chelan. Their hidden gem is the burgers and other cooked Mexican cuisine. These are probably the best burgers in the area. The fries are yummy too. I think the meat and produce selection are typically good quality. We enjoy getting the local fresh trout when they have it and locally grown produce (which is surprisingly rare). I heard that one of the staff makes amazing smoked salmon, but I've yet to have it. Some day... Their beer selection is amazing! I guess it's because we have so many awesome breweries in Washington. The service at the food counter and cashier check out have all been consistently friendly and helpful. read more

IGA has a hidden secret inside, a Skipper's. Skipper's used to be a restaurant in the Seattle area that used to be all over the place and now they are becoming harder to find. IGA Deli has it going on. Their burgers and Skippers fish and chips are great! Burgers are juicy and fish is crispy. Their fries and the chowder are so good too! IGA has a beautiful selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. We purchased two T-bone steaks for dinner this weekend and they were so good! Hardly any bone on the t-bone and it was super tender. IGA is more of a family market IMO. They know their regular customers. Once I accidentally left a bag containing buttermilk at the checkout and when I called they said everything was still there waiting for me and they put the buttermilk in the fridge to keep it cold. It had been about an hour from leaving it until going back to get it abd I didn't have to reshop for my groceries which was awesome! read more

Great store that competes with Safeway and Walmart with there nice pricing .. You can get in and out easily and fast here love this store!! Great assortment of everything including a nice wine selection.. The deli is really really really good! Love the fresh salsa and the Mexican Coleslaw.. Gonna keep this short and sweet. This is about the deli area where you can order food. I understand that things get busy, I also work in food service. But 5 times, I've had my order messed up. They write down your order as you say it, and I speak out my order politely and CLEARLY what I want and they read it back to me correctly. Every time I order a Bacon burger, I specifically request "Just Mayo, Pickles, Mustard" for the toppings. Hell, today I said JUST MAYO. And she read back "Bacon Cheese Burger, just mayo." And every time, it comes with EVERYTHING. Onion, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, the whole works... everything on it. Normally I would just scrape everything off. But the problem is that the onions flavor seeps into the burger patty, so the whole thing tastes of onions. As someone who doesn't like onions for the taste alone... after 5 times of eating a burger tasting of onions I've had enough. I told them once "Hey I got home and there's all this that I didn't want on it." And I got told "Once you leave with it, there's nothing we can do." I do like their burgers, don't get the wrong idea... but they have a bad habit of just making it the default way rather than how you order it. When they actually make it the way I want, it's great. But 5 times in a row is too many. Just know what you might be getting yourself into when ordering. read more

Like Safeway, this is very small but it also is a bit more independent than the Safeway. They have a good selection of things as well as lots of local fare. Parking is easy and it's right across the street from Don Morse Park. Very excellent selection if you can't find what you need at Safeway or the Bear Foods downtown. read more

Drove up from Wenatchee on Wednesday and stopped here for a hamburger. The drive-in across the road is closed for the season. Great burger and fries! The teriyaki chicken and rice looked good. They also have shakes and soft serve cones, plus a lot more. This store has everything, including a restroom. read more

The lady up front (who didn't even looked like she worked there; no name tag or apron?) was really unprofessional and rude to the customers in front of me and even ruder to me. I didn't expect much from a small market in a small town, and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a nice selection of artisan cheeses and crackers and an excellent wine selection. It's a great place to find wines from local area wineries, often at better prices. I found a few wine bargains. You can stock up on your favorites from a local tasting trip. I shop at Chelan's Red Apple Market primaily because I like to support local, family owned businesses, and Tony Race and his family run a very, very good market that has similarities to the old Larry's Markets on the west side of the state. What is different about Chelan Market versus Safeway and Wal-Mart. Tony has set up his store to cater to families who stop in to purchase grocery goods for that night's meal. He uses 'Charlies Produce' for his vegetables and fruit, which means fresh and unlike Safeway, he stocks local fruit and produce whenever it is available. His wine list is the most comprehensive in the community including many local and regional wines. Tony is an expert at helping customers pick a great wine for dinner or a party. We purchase a Spanish red table wine (Tapena) that sells for a little under $9 for everyday use and it is absolutely delicious. At the back of the store, you'll find the most comprehensive collection of beer in the region... and it is cold, I mean really cold. If you want a quick meal, Tony's delis offers up a variety of hot meals at reasonable prices from fried and baked chicken to greaseless hamburgers. The deli also offers great salads. Need some meat cut specifically for you needs, Tony's meat cutter is more than willing to accomodate you. And if you can't find something, Tony will be more than happy to order it up. I ordered a panini sandwich from the deli/grill at the Apple Market today. It was awful. It appears they are more concerned with grill marks then actually grilling/toasting the sandwich. It was soft and squishy. I took one bite and threw it away. I should have returned and asked for my money back. read more
