Review a Funeral Home for my 400th review? Well, why not? This was definitely our "hour of need" and this place came through for my family. It was actually the third time in 4 years their services have been needed and because my sister-in-law was very satisfied with their service after her mother passed away, she turned to them again when her little brother died unexpectedly a year ago. On January 25th my big brother had a massive heart attack, totally unexpected since he had no previous heart conditions. They made it to the hospital but in spite of heroic efforts by the doctors, they were unable to save him. He was only 65. Our family is heartbroken to lose him. Again, Rector Funeral Home was contacted to assist in planning the services. When I got to town I went there for a viewing. No one else was there at the time I went . When I broke down, it was the receptionist who put her arms around me and comforted me, almost as if she was family. I really appreciated that. My brother had so many family, friends and acquaintances and was so well-thought of that they predicted more people would attend services than their chapel could hold. The director stepped forward and offered the church he attends for the services. They were right, the church was full. It was very heartwarming to see the outpouring of affection from all those who knew my brother and were sorry to lose him. The church ladies even prepared a lovely lunch for about 50 of the family and close friends following the services. We all hope we won't lose the ones we love. But we will, eventually, and it's comforting to know there is a place like this who will help you take care of your needs and provide you with as meaningful an experience as possible. On the absolute worst day of our lives, the funeral was the way to be able to finally put our worries and grief at peace. Not to see someone else's family member wearing the clothes of my deceased grandmother. If I could give zero stars, I would! It was a absolute, complete disgrace! Understanding that people make mistakes, but to make light of the situation of switching BODIES-is not understanding at all. There was family that came a long way who, after having to wait, then come back, just to be pushed out again are in shock that a professional funeral home would be so disgustingly terrible. I cannot believe there is anything other than gross misconduct when it came to this situation. I do NOT recommend this business, and for it having such a popular name in town, I'm sure it was great at one time, but not now. Horrible, horrible, horrible service! read more

The pain we were in and knowing my grandma will no longer be with us anymore. We are told services will be at 1 and when my mom looks there is another lady in my grandmas clothes and so family had to wait another 2 more hrs for them just to pop my grandma out the freezer. Then at that body not prepare properly. And only gave my family a certain amount of time to be with my grandma. Then rushed out the family because since she was not prepared and just pulled out the freezer from ONLY BEING FROZEN they said body will begin to stink when it begin to defrost. From being in grief and all this to happen and for them to mistake a body and put our preciuos grandmas clothes on someone else was on another level. Then the guy laughed and said "Oh we probally have to go get her from the hospital still". What human does this. read more

We were so disappointed with the funeral home. That place asked all these questions and didn't bother to write down the information we gave them or even put a picture of my Mom that we sent them. When we viewed Mom it wasn't even her they put the wrong lady in my moms clothes. They never even picked her up from the hospital! Like who does that? Everything changed from the minute we did the contract to the viewing which was a mess. It has been an overwhelming day. I would not recommend this place at all. Then the lady laughed and said oh we have to go get your Mom. They didn't prep her properly. I was so upset and frustrated. . So if you want a loved one treated properly do not go to this place! read more

Lynn Rector helped our family make a difficult time more bearable. He and his staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was just as requested. They took the time to deliver the flowers to our home along with extra remembrance cards and even provided thank you cards for us. The caring hearts of Lynn and his staff will never be forgotten. read more

Don't even know where to start this place does not even deserve a star however I cannot post my review without giving them a star first of all let me start out that my mom passed away November 27 we met up at regular funeral home on Monday, November 30 due to them being close on weekends we need to hand them over the chat give them all the information they did including a picture of my mother they tell us to come back at 1o'clock they promised us to our viewing and we did we left we came back at one my oldest brother and sister were the first wants to go in since we were going in by twos next thing I know my sister is yell and I just about fell to the floor saying that is not my mom they had displayed the wrong body with my mom's clothing on it when the lady came out to tell us what had happened whether it was a nervous laugh or whatever she did have a laugh was telling us if they have picked up the wrong body from the morgue but they were on their way to pick up the right body however the driver was going to stop and get a drink ha ha Ha were her words so we i'll just take it in we left upset of course had to go get some more clothes for my mom came back at 3o'clock as they told us that she would be ready by then when we come back at 3o'clock people were taking turns going in at two at a time my husband and I decided to go into the office to talk to the owner we were wondering if we were going to receive an apology or some type of compensation for the way they handled the whole situation disrespecting my mom's body and he got quite angry and asked us what did we have in mind apparently we had something in mind which made me think you're the owner of this funeral home and you're asking us what we have in mind and treating us like we're nobody's no type of compassion no any type of feeling from them other than he was angry top of that 45 minutes into our visit he kicks us all out tell him that he is going to fixing to close down because he was angry and I also wonder if the other family even knew that their mom daughter wife had been displayed for a different family and put into someone else's clothing read more

Zach Sustaita at Rector Funeral home recently helped us in planning our Mothers graveside service. Everything was fine until we got to Turkey,Tx were we waited at the funeral home & the hurst never showed up. The graveside service was at 10 am. At 20 till 10 we drove out to the cemetery & no one was there either. Finally the hurst came late, and my family had to help one lady that drove the hurst set up the graveside for the service. It was a nightmare as we only bury our Mother once. After we got back to Amarillo, we went to see the owner, Lynn Rector. Sure enough Zachs notes stated my Mother was to go to Funeral Home in Turkey. Mr Rector promised I'd get an apology from Zach, but I haven't. Today is July 27. My Mother was buried July 12. read more
