It's a memory that's lasted over 70 years. Also, we suspect that my grandfather may have visited the cemetery on his last day, to revisit memories of my grandmother and deceased friends. He disappeared in a three-day blizzard. His car was found near the cemetery. We didn't realize that he was still visiting the cemetery, long after the children grew up and left Amarillo. I'm so sorry for families who share their negative reports here. I hope they are anomalous and that the cemetery is respectfully maintained. Death is daunting. These memorial sites can support our grieving and healing process.

She produced the funeral brochure, book markers, Thank you cards, memorable Life video, an unbelievable Family Tree book, gorgeous Family Bible, a lovely grave side marker with a colored photograph. She took his finger prints for us to have made into a gold charm. She was even able to coordinate a military service at the last minute on that Friday, after Thanksgiving. I just loved the fully restored 1930s house with wood floors, it felt very homie. The pricing was very reasonable and was much lower than their competitors.

Review a Funeral Home for my 400th review? Well, why not? This was definitely our "hour of need"…read moreand this place came through for my family. It was actually the third time in 4 years their services have been needed and because my sister-in-law was very satisfied with their service after her mother passed away, she turned to them again when her little brother died unexpectedly a year ago. On January 25th my big brother had a massive heart attack, totally unexpected since he had no previous heart conditions. They made it to the hospital but in spite of heroic efforts by the doctors, they were unable to save him. He was only 65. Our family is heartbroken to lose him. Again, Rector Funeral Home was contacted to assist in planning the services. When I got to town I went there for a viewing. No one else was there at the time I went . When I broke down, it was the receptionist who put her arms around me and comforted me, almost as if she was family. I really appreciated that. My brother had so many family, friends and acquaintances and was so well-thought of that they predicted more people would attend services than their chapel could hold. The director stepped forward and offered the church he attends for the services. They were right, the church was full. It was very heartwarming to see the outpouring of affection from all those who knew my brother and were sorry to lose him. The church ladies even prepared a lovely lunch for about 50 of the family and close friends following the services. We all hope we won't lose the ones we love. But we will, eventually, and it's comforting to know there is a place like this who will help you take care of your needs and provide you with as meaningful an experience as possible. Understanding that people make mistakes, but to make light of the situation of switching BODIES-is not understanding at all. There was family that came a long way who, after having to wait, then come back, just to be pushed out again are in shock that a professional funeral home would be so disgustingly terrible. I cannot believe there is anything other than gross misconduct when it came to this situation. I do NOT recommend this business, and for it having such a popular name in town, I'm sure it was great at one time, but not now. Horrible, horrible, horrible service!

We have been very pleased with the install and service received from Lone Star Services…read more Lone Star installed an HVAC system for my mother last year. We called them from Austin (where we live) because while visiting earlier in the week we felt the system didn't seem to be blowing cold/keeping up as it should. Even though we said it wasn't an emergency Lone Star sent a tech over the same day. Mom said he spent quite a bit of time running tests and could find nothing wrong. She said he was very polite, explained everything to her and that even though it was past the one year labor warranty he did not charge for the call. It turns out that while there we must have remedied any problem when we replaced her return air filter with a clean one, but couldn't really tell because her ceilings are so high and we did it at the end of our visit. Anyway, when we had gone outside the air blowing out from the condenser was not very hot so we thought the freon was low hence the service call for Mom...but come to find out, the newer larger units don't put off as hot of air, only 15-20 degrees hotter than the ambient air. So Lone Star's install was good and this review is a thank you as well as a recommendation. (My brother selected Lone Star for Mom and he researches...so a double recommendation if you count that :-) ).

We had gone to other contractors but they didn't seem too interested and wanted to do some standard work. Juan listened and took some measurements. He asked how we wanted things to look. He asked about our old fence and mentioned he could build one. I asked about a sliding gate across the driveway. It would be 24ft long. Then we asked about a carport. We had just purchased a hi-top conversion van and wanted it protected. He took all of our ideas and his measurement and quoted a 3 phase project. The fence was done first and is 8ft tall with a 4ft gate and an 8ft X 24ft sliding gate. It is so smooth and easy to open or close. Next was the carport. fits two vehicles, one that is the conversion van, perfectly. The patio cover finished out the projects and looks great. We had him add a gutter to catch any rain and keep us dry. They are professional and did outstanding work. It made such a huge difference in our backyard that I feel we'll be spending many hours enjoying it all. Thank you Backyard Shades for transforming our backyard into a place we'll enjoy for years. I plan to post some aerial video and photos once the weather is cooler and less breezy so I can fly my drone.
