Gold's has more leg machines but their stuff is always broken lol. Fit 19 has some repetitive and hardly-used equipment. I love that you can go into the studio and access all the kettlebells/weights/bars/mats This is usually restricted in other gyms. They often do not let you use weights in the studios at other places. The turf area is nice as well and is always kept clean and organized. People don't leave weights all around the gym--like at other gyms. The equipment is rarely broken like at other gyms with higher price points. You'll be lucky if LA Fitness' cardio machines are working. The spin bike room is so nice compared to other gyms as well. There's a lot more bikes compared to other spin rooms. All in all, you get what you pay for and in my opinion, I'm getting more than what I pay for--$10 a month. My sessions with the owner were positive, and I felt the workouts were appropriate. However, the issue arose with the second trainer. Although I was paying the higher rate specifically because the owner said he would supervise all programming, that oversight did not happen in practice. At one point, I communicated that I was experiencing pain in my right hip/groin area and asked to scale things back. Despite this, the trainer had me perform exercises like barbell squats and farmer carries. I explicitly asked whether these were safe given my condition, and I was assured they were. They were not. Following these sessions, I was later diagnosed with a labral tear, which has significantly impacted my mobility and required extensive recovery, time, and financial investment. Then I called the Upland location that made the mess, but the manager said he couldn't do anything to refund the charge, and proceeded to try putting the blame on me for not getting the cancellation of my old membership number in writing! Apparently he thinks I should have done a better job of supervising their employee's work in the computer? Or maybe I should have known that their employee changing my membership number would create such a mess? I asked for a corporate number, and the manager said there isn't one, but I could email customer service. Problem is, he gave me an incorrect email address. So I tried to call the corporate customer service number (which I got from another location), and the automated system wouldn't do anything but circle me back to the Upland gym location. Then I scoured the Internet for a good corporate email address, and sent my email - but no response. I knew that 24 Hr Fitness had to change things after their bankruptcy, but for them to turn their customer service into such a nightmare is unbelievable. In a nutshell, AVOID THIS PLACE. It's not just my membership issue. The complaints from other reviewers on here are also accurate. Poor maintenance, filthy locker rooms, broken equipment, rules that aren't being enforced at all, and days when the music is cranked so loud you can't hear what's playing on your own earbuds. Our lives have been consumed with chemotherapy, treatments, doctor appointments, and simply trying to get through an incredibly difficult time as a family. After paying for a gym membership for roughly two years that we weren't even using, and repeatedly trying to cancel it, how does Anything Fitness handle the situation? THEY SEND ME TO COLLECTIONS. There is a difference between running a business and forgetting that your customers are human beings. A company can enforce its policies while still showing basic compassion, common sense, and a willingness to work with people--especially customers dealing with circumstances as serious as cancer. We weren't asking for special treatment. We wanted a membership we weren't using to be canceled and the billing to stop. Instead, after months of frustration, we ended up dealing with a collection account. That tells me everything I need to know about how this business values its customers.
