Recently was buzzed in for a day pass and it's clear the owner, Ian, care a lot about his powerlifting gym. It's well equipped (6-8 benches with safety racks, 3+ deadlift stations, a couple of squat racks, a decent amount of machines) and has calibrated plates for competiton. Also, it's indoors with central air and super clean! Some cardio machines as well. It's the only dedicated powerlifting gym I've seen in the area. Unfortunately it's just a hair too far to be practical for my training but I wish I could be a member here. read more

I was in the area and I was looking for a gym that was a little less crowded and this exceeded my expectations. I saw the reviews for this place and decided to call and get a day pass. It's true that people are more respectful at this gym because when I walked in everything was clean and everyone was wiping things down and re-racking their weights. It makes for such a better lifting experience when everyone respects the equipment and facility. You sign up on an app and you beep in via a bluetooth system which was convenient for my early morning lift. I even got to meet the owner Ian, and he was cool and helped me get a day pass fast which was great! I intend to come back here! 10/10. read more

I have been going to Fitness Underground for a year. The gym is designed with a focus on power lifting and overall strength training. I was especially interested in lifting heavy weights but I wanted an experienced person with me to avoid injuries. I was in need of a personal trainer to help me achieve my fitness goals. I had a great experience training with Denisse! She was incredibly personable, encouraging, and made every session enjoyable. She paid close attention to my form, provided helpful corrections, and explained everything clearly, which gave me the confidence to lift heavier weights safely. just started coming here with my buddy recently and i don't regret it. they have the best lifting equipment and machines i've seen out of any other gym i've been too in a 30 minute radius. Ever wondered what it was like to work in an underground gym? Well this one isn't, BUT, it's still a freakin cool gym. Unlike your standard gym, this is not only private, but CLEAN. Everyone carries sanitizing sprays to disinfect after work outs. Say bye bye Hepatitis, conjunctivitis, and all other germs that make us physically unattractive, because it's CLEAN here. Because of the small community of gym members here, every one is pretty familiar to one another, therefore you feel a sense of comfort and motivation to be as strong as them. AND. AND!!!!!! I joined Fitness Underground back in 2021 and have been a member for 3+ years. The gym owner Ian is the first person to welcome you, give you a tour, and get your key fob set-up. Coming from someone who used to go to Crunch, one thing that I loved about FU right off the bat was the difference in the environment. FU feels very welcoming and comfortable to work out in and the members+trainers here are incredible. People clean up after themselves and are so friendly. Another thing I appreciate at FU is how dedicated our gym owner is to constantly improving and upgrading the gym. First off, I'm 32 years old. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to dieting and working out. Yet, I've struggled for years to stay consistent with both. I've had a LA Fitness membership since 2009. So, I decided to search elsewhere than your typical large gym (e.g., LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness) in hopes of finding a solution. I searched for a local gym on Google, and Fitness Underground was the first to pop up. I'll admit, I was hesitant--I was so used to large gyms with every machine possible, even if I knew I would never use them, lol. I found myself scheduling a consultation with Ian, the owner. He's been my personal trainer since January 2024; it's now July 2024. I'll begin by saying Ian has enriched my knowledge of both dieting and working out. He corrected bad lifting habits that I never knew I had, which led to less stress on my body, fewer pains, and fewer injuries. All the "random" shoulder and back pain is no longer random or a mystery to me, but most importantly, a thing of the past. My dieting has improved tremendously since Ian and I started working together. Ian understands that everyone has different eating habits. We took the time to figure out what works best for my lifestyle, and within 6 months, I went from 218 lbs to 188 lbs. My wedding photos look great thanks to Ian and the people at Fitness Underground. I have had nothing but positive experiences at Fitness Underground. Their recent expansion has made it a fitness goer's dream environment. If you're a powerlifter, this is the place to go. After coming off an ACL tear, I wanted to get into better shape after rehabbing my knee and I found Fitness Underground. At first, I was hesitant but the 24/7 availability and seasoned trainers convinced me to give it a try. Best decision ever! I began my training with Ryan immediately and quickly learned how out of shape I had become. Ryan not only put my training plan together but also taught me about my nutrition and how to better it. He also made it his priority to teach me about the different muscle groups and which muscles each workout was geared towards strengthening. I feel far more comfortable coming into the gym on my own and knowing how to workout and which muscles to work on. I was a little intimidated at first, due to my lack of experience with weights, however after 22 months of personal training, my life has changed dramatically for the better! I'm actually considered a senior citizen so I have a lot of life experience. I have been a member of Fitness Underground since June 2022. I can without a doubt say that this is the best gym I have been a part of thus far. I have been in multiple commercial gyms over the years and built a small home gym during the pandemic. My fitness journey has been up and down but became consistent during the pandemic and I started to reach my goals. However, I injured myself and started to stagnate in my physique and strength goals. Despite buying multiple training programs I improved slightly at best and not at all in most areas. I needed personal training. I looked around the area and spoke with multiple gyms and trainers. The owner, Ian, show me around the gym, told me about his experience within the field, and worked with me to come up with clear goals and how I can achieve them. He was kind, and informative, and answered all my questions and concerns, especially when it came to my previous injury. He was direct and upfront about the pricing and offered competitive prices when it came to personal training. He did not pressure me into coming to the gym in any way and allowed me to think about my choice. He also asked me questions in order to understand me and my experience instead of just trying to sell me personal training like the commercial gyms have done in the past. He didn't guilt trip me. It felt like an actual collaboration. Since joining I have made more progress than I ever have on my own. He created a training program specifically tailored to myself and my goals. He would make adjustments mid-workout based on my performance. My experience with Ian has been nothing but great so far. The gym itself is kept clean, and organized, and provides you with more than enough equipment. There are a multitude of platforms to deadlift, racks to squat/bench, barbells to use, and dumbbells of weights that I cannot lift just yet. Everyone helps keep everything organized and clean. There is more than enough space to work out and nothing feels as though it is crowded. Whether your goal is bodybuilding, powerlifting, or simply just trying to improve yourself. This gym offers more than enough to help you achieve your goals. This review has been long overdue. Firstly, I have to give a big shout out to my trainer Ryan he's been an amazing and supportive mentor and friend in helping me reach my fitness goals. He's extremely knowledgeable and his method (being science based) is extremely effective and functional -I haven't seen as much results in my previous two years of working out as I have working with him. Secondly, the gym is a great space to work in and is well kept at all times. Most of the equipment is available at all times and Ian is always brining in new equipment which is pretty exciting. The vibe is always chill and inclusive to anyone that wants to join. The gym is open 24hrs a day which is a huge plus for me as I sometimes have a tight schedule. I found Fitness Underground through its Yelp reviews a few years ago, so now I want to add my own. I was looking for an alternative to CrossFit and wanted to focus on gaining strength, so a powerlifting gym seemed like a good fit. I found this gym and have never looked back. The gym is always super clean and has a wide variety of equipment that can suit anyone's needs. I was worried about working out by myself because of intimidation, especially since I am in my mid-40s and was going to be around a lot of younger folks. But seriously, no one cares. Everyone is there to get better and help each other out. No egos. I've been doing personal training with Ian and continue to see my max lift numbers go up, which is exactly what I want. Even have a wall of extra belts, bands, resistance chains, chalk...Enough equipment to always have your own rack, platform or bench. Other members and staff are encouraging, open to spot you, or even lift with you. Many of the members and staff are (winning) competitors, and understand importance of form. I have been training at Fitness Underground for about a year and a half. I originally started training with Ian, the owner, to get in shape for my wedding. Ian is not the first trainer I have used but his approach to working out has truly changed my life. The first couple of months were hard, not only because I was not used to working out to that extent, but also because getting up and working out before work is difficult. Still, that hard work changed me, and I do not see myself not having a trainer like Ian ever again. Working out twice a week with Ian truly gave me the best results I have ever had. Now I have a 9-month year old baby and can only train with him once a week. I look forward to that training session every week and any chance I get, I try to squeeze another session in. I drive 30 minutes in the opposite direction to get there every week and I have no regrets. If you are looking for a gym that's open 24/7, has legit equipment for deadlifts, squats, powerlifting in general, I promise you, Underground Fitness is where you need to be. It is of course clean, well maintained and has healthy food/snacks readily available but what is most important to me is the time, energy, and effort Ian puts into every session. Me and my fiancé have been going to fitness underground for a little over 7 months. My wife contacted the gym trying to get more information and Ian the founder of fitness underground responded back saying he can give us a tour and answer any questions we would have. Me and my fiancé went to the tour and liked what fitness underground had to offer. Ian was our trainer when we first started and we learned a lot from him not only how to workout correctly but also about nutrition and how much it impacts our health. Later on we had to switch over to another trainer named Denisse. She has been a really big help not only does she help us if we have any questions about the workouts but also she explains what each workout does and what it targets. She is a great motivator and we'll push you because she knows you can always do more. Fitness underground has great trainers but also great customers. This gym isn't a place where you would feel uncomfortable because of members here aren't looking at you and giving the eye. Everyone is helpful and has no problem encouraging you. You have 2 owners who do their very best to give you what you need. You have people here who take pride in what they do and who keep improving what is their "baby". Not too long after New Years, I was on the traditional "I am going to get in shape this year" kick like everyone else who set new year resolutions. I had seen an ad on Instagram for Fitness Underground and thought, man this could truly be a different experience and it's so close in proximity! At the time, I was working out a Chuze and didn't necessarily have any complaints, but lacked the closed-knit atmosphere and lacked the free weights I grew up being used too as a football player. I had signed up, not necessarily seeing the gym itself, but didn't necessarily have the motivation to get in there. It wasn't until the owner Ian called me and let me know that he felt bad charging me for another month without me stepping foot in the gym. He ask when I could make it in so I could check out the place and get the feel of the place. Shortly there after our conversation, I was able to meet Ian officially and also go over some of the basics for lifting and testing my strength. It was humbling to see that I wasn't as strong as I thought, but also reminded me the reason I was here in the first place. Ian offered to build out a personal program for me and has continuously done so for the last 7 months. I can tell you from personal experience, the programming has helped me "check my ego at the door" as Ian would say as well as encouraged me to continually come back and try to dominate another week as it gradually edges you up in "PR's" or personal records. I can say confidently, I am stronger than I have ever been in my life, I have more confidence than I've had in a long time and I truly love my gym. It's a place where you can be yourself, are encouraged by everyone and where the owners Ian & Marisa believe in their athletes and want them to have the best atmosphere to compete, to better their lives and to have a place to belong.
