I have been coming to the works since 2018 & have never left since. I moved out of state in 2021, but when I come back into town, this is my home away from home, go to gym! I LOVE the old school equipment. Anyone who talks shit about it doesn't know what REAL OG equipment is then, this is it! I love CT & Kelly & their adorable family. Thank you for giving me a place to come to with a really cool gym family to workout with. Love you guys!! read more

I want to love this gym. Uncrowded, decent equipment, great crowd of people. But this place is FILTHY and so neglected. Fans and room dividers have layers of dust so thick it's clear they haven't been cleaned for YEARS. The worst part?? Roaches. There are roaches everywhere. Is so clear that whoever owns this gym does not care at all because if they did the place wouldnt look this disgusting. Updating to add pictures. This roach has been here for at least 4 days. read more

The Works Gym - Dead roach. Has been here at least 4 days (not guessing I've seen it there for that long) - Gyms Near Me - Upland, California

Filthy. The same dirt and messes that were there the last time I went (2+ weeks ago) were still there. I've never seen anyone wiping down the equipment or doing anything. Thankfully it's mostly empty (I mean obviously) and the equipment works. But most of it is very old equipment. Very bare bones and I wouldn't dare try showering lest I get hand and foot disease. The vibe is not women friendly in the slightest and I got stared at by several men. Also, they're showing nothing but MAGA news stations and football on the televisions non-stop. Talk about bad vibes. read more

This is my home gym. When I say this is my home gym, it's because I live less than 10 min away and it is by far the best gym in the area. The Staff is great, along with the overall cleanliness of the gym. Oh, and if you want to do outdoor activities, they got that too. The works made the adjustment of moving from LA to the IE easy. I'm grateful. read more

I was going to Works gym for 6 months. Ed is always there in the morning with a positive attitude. All the gym members there are serious about fitness. Best part is that it's not ever truly crowded. I love that I can go there, take care of business and leave. Unfortunately, I moved away and no longer use Works. My current gym is overpacked, people don't re-rack their weights, and it feel like everyone is wearing outfits ready to go out clubbing. Man I miss this gym! read more

Absolutely love this gym, really grateful to have found it. Has all the equipment you need but what sold me is the basketball court. John was super nice at the front desk, bathroom was clean, and all the plates are put up which is a nice change from what I'm use to at other gyms. Very excited for this to be my home gym! read more

I'm in town for the weekend and i seen this gym had a one of the highest ratings. When I went it wasn't too busy and there was plenty of space to workout. Not a long wait or any wait for the machines, and friendly people and front desk staff! will go back when i come to town again read more

I almost don't want to give this place such a high review, because this place is the best gym I've been to & I almost want it to stay a secret!! After being a member at gold's gym, 24 hr fitness, LA Fitness, planet fitness, crunch fitness, and checking out others like chuze fitness, retro fitness, and using my school's gym, I have finally found a place that is always neat and tidy, where people are respectful of others and clean up after themselves, and more importantly, is not packed to the brim with people. they have a policy of re-racking their own weights, because if you can take it off the rack, you're strong enough to put it back. At this gym, there's no problem with me running around looking for dumbbells or weights because they're always tidy and in their respective places. They have prepaid prices, contract pricing all on their website, so you don't have to haggle like at al the other gyms. I appreciated the honesty and straightforwardness of that. I think I've met the owner and another employee so far, and they were welcoming and helpful when my boyfriend and I signed up for a trial pass, and when we wanted to purchase memberships. Parking is always easy to find, there's a large shared lot in this plaza. For equipment, they have everything you need and then some. Besides the typical machines and benches, they have also cycling machines, cardio equipment, a grass area for warming up, stretching, and other exercises, with kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls, exercise balls, and differing weighted barbells. There's a bar along the wall that allows you to do assisted pull ups, or use the straps provided for other workouts. There's a deadlifting area, squat racks, different sized barbell bars, and a lot of equipment that I haven't ever used or seen before this place! (P.S. chalk provided!) they also have an outside area that has various workout equipment like tires. It's all red and black equipment & honestly it looks like a "meat head" gym. The cleaner sprays and paper towels are always full and filled. The restroom is clean and stocked. There are lockers and a shower in the women's restroom. If you have any questions or need something, the employees are always happy to help! If you want to try this gym out, there's a free day pass on yelp for checking in. It's worth your time! It has been such a long time since I have been able to get my workouts done within the hour. I actually look forward to going, even if its 5pm on a weekday. For fellow respectful gym goers that go to Gold's, 24, or LA fitness, you need to try this place! read more

I can't say enough good things about The Works. I have been coming here for years recommend it to anyone living in the area. The membership fees are very reasonable and the vibe is great. Everyone is very down to earth and it feels like you are part of a family. read more

I made the switch! Found my new home gym. A little bit further than my last gym, but definitely a great upgrade. I drive here all the way from chino hills just to train. This place is the total Package to what a gym should have. This gym caters to multiple crowds. You have your typical machines, then you have the powerlifting platforms, then the strongman equipment outside. Definitely a place to look into! Make sure to check in to receive a free day pass workout! Trust me when I say this, you will Not be disappointed ! To me, this gym is a bit more old Skool, but I F*#%king love it. Nothing beats the sound of a couple metal plates clanking each other. Music to my ears. After trying multiple gyms for my powerlifting needs, I finally found a place where I feel right at home, and a place where I'll be for a very long time. 7 of our friends moved here and it was well worth the change. I can't wait to see what this place has in store for the future.! read more

I came here with a couple of friends for their yelp check in offer. They have a free one day pass if you are new to the gym. The gym I would have to say it is really beautiful. The lighting is dimmed and I would say romantic. I would honestly take my first date here to workout and actually eat here haha. The one thing they need to fix is probably circulation. They do not have air conditioning so they just open the garage door for some ventilation. The people here are pretty nice, but their gym pass seems a bit off a rip-off. 40 dollars a month seems tooo expensive for me. One of the sales person told me that, that was the deal of the day. I'm already paying 20 a month at golds gym with many amenities. I am not sure that 40 a month is a good offer haha. However the manager seems like a nice guy. He's not too pushy or trying to scam anyone. It's a great place for a new person to join. I highly recommend this place. There is not a lot of people and the gym equipment are almost brand new. read more

Best gym I've been to in a long, long time. Equipment is awesome, staff is kind, and fellow members are considerate. It's great to walk in knowing that the people around you are putting in work so you might as well match the effort! Besides, you took the time to drive there, right? The business owner (CT) is super helpful and attentive to anything that needs repairs/improvements. I must agree a few others about the double-edged sword this place has become: On one hand, I want this establishment to be a tremendous success for the family that owns it. On the other hand I'd hate to see it get super packed with ego lifters and wannabe Instagram models, haha. But I digress. This gym is simply fantastic and you'd be hard pressed to find a better one in the area. So sign up - you'll be glad that you did! Just be sure to re-rack your weights and wipe stuff down :). read more

I'm with Jessica on this one. I kinda want to be selfish and not give exposure but honestly this gym is the best I've been to and deserves to grow. I've been EVERYWHERE. 24 Hours, LA Fitness (formerly Bally's), Crunch, Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Zoo Culture (Bradley Martin's gym). The Works Gym takes the crown. The staff is amazing, they are kind and helpful, Chris takes the gym to heart and makes you feel welcoming the moment you step in. The place is so tidy and clean, no need to struggle finding the free weights. Everyone re-racks their weights and has respect for the machines and plates (Important Gym Etiquette!) It's almost never packed with people, making it convenient to get a great workout in a short amount of time. It has a clear area where you can foam-roll, do some lunges, stretch, etc. You can also go outside in the back they have a basketball court, you can push a sled, toss some tires, and a lot of that style of training (also it's nice to catch some air) They also have a deadlift and squat rack, so if you're really into that, they got that! A small touch I really like is the shower, it is enclosed with a door (I'm not sure if the ladies' is the same) but I love this because it adds privacy instead of the normal shower curtains. Overall it feels like home, it feels like YOUR gym. That's what I love about it, and it pretty much is. Oh, and you can also film yourself, a HUGE plus. If I can suggest anything, I suppose I would suggest a microwave with a place to eat to be able to heat up meal prep for those on-the-go or who enjoy eating after, that would make this super perfect! But that's just my wish haha but at that point I am just being so picky! Try it, you'll love it I'm almost sure! Drive up your spirit here, it's just something about it that it drives you to do more. The members are also very awesome. read more

This is probably the one gym I have been most consistent with. And I can truly say it's due to the awesome staff & members who would offer their time and knowledge on healthy living and work out techniques... jus cause!!! Wide variety of cardio machines, free weights, cycling & aesthetic equipment ... and food prep meals !!! Would def recommend for all beginners & advanced fitness people ... ohhhhh and they have a children corner for your rugrats and an outdoor basketball court for some outdoor cardio shoot around read more

Mike is the best trainer. He really cares for his clients and makes sure a you get a good workout every time. You will not be disappointed with him as your trainer. You are guaranteed your results as long as you do as he says. If I ever had any questions with nutrition as well he is very informative. read more

Everyone is so nice the facility is very clean and not overcrowded they have everything that you can imagine a professional Gym having.... they are so much better than 24 hour fitness or LA fitness I'm so glad I joined and it was cheaper than both of those gyms The shower and locker room area is clean and always smells good. There's also a bottle refill station that's free. read more

I really liked this gym, kind of old school but this is the main reason why, it is not crowded. No words just great gym! read more

Love this place so much I got myself a membership after day 1 of trying it out. CT is incredibly friendly and has all the things I need.

My review is long overdue! Been working out here for nearly 2 years now! This is the best gym period! CT and Kelly did a great job in creating an amazing gym environment. Anytime of the day I can come in and get my workout in and the best part is everyone that works out here has gym etiquette. I have been able to really transform myself with this facility. The best part is the owners make you feel like part of the family!! No corporate gym bs here just real people trying to accomplish there goals. Don't hesitate and give this place a try you won't regret it! I attached a photo to show the kind of progress I made using this place day in and day out! read more

The Works Gym - Gyms Near Me - Upland, California

This is practically an old school powerlifting gym with old school equipment and a large outdoor area with more equipment other than what is inside the gym. Which, along with it's location that makes it practically hidden and the raw environment it provides, makes it the ideal place to work out: This gym is not located in an area that receives very much traffic or attention from a large Main Street so it's never too crowded (even following New Years)and thus equipment is always organized and available for use. And the environment and old school equipment provide the motivation to get a good workout. This gym has great staff and the equipment is better than most gyms. My only complaint is that broken or damaged equipment is not always fixed or replaced as quickly as one would usually like. Other than this issue, however, this is the ideal gym to work out at and definitely one of the better gyms I've been to. read more

Part of me wants to keep this place a secret -- but it's better to share the truth. This is a great hardcore gym. Owners Chris & Kelly take a lot of pride in keeping the gym up; it's very clean and bright. The equipment is great, and includes dead lift platform, squat racks, a floor for movement exercises, a boxing room, and plenty of stationary bikes and treadmills. The members are considerate, returning weights to the racks after use (unlike what you find in many big box centers). I've been training here for many years and have never seen anything better, at a very reasonable rate. read more

This is one of the best gyms that I've worked out at (best in the San Bernadino area). The building: The gym seems to have been converted from a warehouse/distribution center as there are dock doors and a decently sized outdoor area. The effect is a gym that allows fresh air to circulate through the gym as you're working out; it looks great in the morning/early afternoon. Interior: The building is compartmentalized into several sections: there's a turf, cardio machines, free weights, machines, barbell area, boxing/cardio room. There are also locker rooms with clean bathrooms and a private shower. Exterior: The backside of the gym has a large blacktop area from multiple activities: basketball, hammer/tire swings, tire workouts, etc. Equipment: The gym has the typical equipment and machines, but also has equipment that other big business gyms don't offer such as metal plates, weight lifting chains, hexbars/trapbars, safety squat bar, punching bags, hammers/maces, tires, turf, etc. Atmosphere: As other reviewers have mentioned, it has that old school gym feel. Visiting in the morning, evening, and night, it is never too crowded and the majority of members seem focused on getting their workout in instead of joking around or sitting on equipment for long periods of time on their phones. Everyone I've interacted with so far have been nice and respectful. What I've come to appreciate is that for the most part, members respect the equipment here (re-racking, placing equipment back, etc). I visited a 24 hour gym recently and this was one of the small, but big things that I've come to appreciate at this gym. Personnel: The staff that I've interacted with have been helpful and pleasant. I have not worked with any of the trainers, but from observation, they seem friendly, knowledgeable, and engaged in their workout sessions. As others have stated, this gym seems like a hidden gem that I almost want to keep to myself, but it definitely deserves a positive review and any success it has coming to it. read more

Absolutely love The Works.. have been at the big box gyms in the past, but they don't give me that drive, that motivation like I get when I arrive at The Works. I feel and know that I will be a life time member here.. get that 5 day pass like I did, come see for yourself. Thank you Adrian- read more

Great gym. Not full like all other gyms. It has everything you need and then some. Great equipment clean environment.

Best in Upland, for reasons you'd know in a second. Made for the athletic, and the owner knows how to run the place. Lavell, who also works the front desk, is an awesome person to ask for work out or machine tips as well. The space is designed for people who are really about their workouts, so don't go just to talk with your girlfriend. Mirrors are on point though, so if you're about that insta life you'll be satisfied there too. Never lines for machines, there's too much to do in there to get caught up anyway. For the focused! read more

I joined this gym & was able to find an amazing coach within it! I competed in my first powerlifting competition just 4 months after joining and am now moving on and prepping for strongman. The equipment, atmosphere & support at this gym are unlike any in the area. I encourage everyone at any fitness level to give this gym a try. You won't want to step foot back into a corporate gym! read more

Hands down the best gym ever! Clean, iron plates, and it's all red, not to mention the owners Chris and Kelly treat you like you're a celebrity. read more

Been a member of the Works gym since the day they opened (previous iron works member) and I couldn't imagine taking my business anywhere else. CT grew this bad boy into a sanctuary for serious athletes as well as a welcoming start for people new to fitness. Olympic bumper plates, racks and a nice oly platform. The recent addition of strongman equipment is a breath of fresh are. Most gyms that offer this equipment cost well over $75 a month for this vast selection. If you're thinking about coming here do it ! I drove from the Day Creek area in Rancho Cucamonga and it's totally worth it. Just if you sign up please put your weights away. Thanks. Steve read more

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! I walked in and told them I wanted to try the place and the front desk person just signed me up for a trial. No hassling me to sign up like at commercial gyms. I'm a competitive powerlifter and this place has everything and more. It's a perfect size gym for everything you need. Finally a REAL gym the won't stifle my growth like those other gyms. read more

The best, no-BS gym in the area. Always opens on time, great equipment, no hassles. Support local business, not franchises!

I've been to so many gyms and this one is THE BEST! Great equipment, great service, never too busy! Family owned well ran big gym and virtually everything is NEW! They even have a kickass turf area to train on! Best gym I've found in Claremont or Upland! read more

Hands down THE BEST gym I've been to! I was recommended and tried out the free 5-day trial and was instantly sold! Being a former active duty Marine made me grow accustomed to specific equipment, all of which i found here! Every single time I workout there are no crowds or hassles for machines. Everybody comes for a serious workout and the atmosphere is awesome! A great place for athletes and anyone who uses various types of equipment. BRAVO CT!!! Received a five day FREE PASS just five days ago and joined today... This gym is like no other !! I was made to feel like a family member my first day... Plenty of quality, clean equipment ... Respectful and positive atmosphere.. There is a certain "seriousness" in this gym unlike other gyms which are no more than social clubs.. The fact that their members are serious about their workouts, compels you to do the same... I'm extremely happy and satisfied... I urge you to give us a try ... I say "us", because this is now MY gym... read more

I love this gym! I never feel uncomfortable and all members are there for for a real gym experience. The best part is it's not overcrowded and you dont have to wait for equipment read more

This is the best gym I've been to in a long time. Everyone minds their own business and just focuses on training. Not like most modern gyms where crowds of people are just texting and posting on social media more than training. My favorite part about this gym is that whenever you need to move on to your next excercise, you do not need to wait long periods of time for equipment to become available. Perfect gym for any serious athlete. read more

THE HOLY GRAIL OF ALL GYMS WITHIN 20 MILES OF UPLAND (to say the least)!!!! I must say, if you value your time... this is the place to workout. Any time of day, you can get in and out without having to wait to use equipment & dealing with crowds. It also helps that everything is always where it belongs, and they have any piece of equipment you may want or need. Don't be intimidated ladies, this is a respectful environment for you too!! If you need help with your workouts from one woman to another, ask for me and I'll help you out. Anyways, I never even use my 24 hour fitness membership or Chuze membership anymore (I like variety), because this place is THE SPOT to have your best workout!!! Thank you for existing The Works Gym in Upland!!!! read more

The best gym in the inland empire. Hands down. Shockingly low monthly price for such a massive facility with all the equipment you could possibly want. Best of all, this is a family run gym that has been embedded with the owners' kind personalities. If your tired of ego lifters flocking in the masses or waiting over half an hour for a machine, bench or area to conduct your routine because groups of people are texting and talking more then lifting. Then this is the HEAVEN you have been looking for. They are not as big as any of the chain gyms. But there has never a time where I couldn't do an exercise one of my routines. The have Ropes, medicine balls, a couple bunching bags, a few stair masters, treadmills, perfect lighting, cables, incline , dumbbells over 120lb, deadlift platforms, Smith machine, clean restrooms, great staff, and best of all a shoulder barbell press (the rarest of equipment). This is the type of facility that champions and competitors talk about. Prepayments are the cheapest over time for membership. It was 275$ for three months for 2 memberships. Only thing that would make this place better from my perspective is if It was open till midnight. If your a ego lifter(someone who squats 495 at 35% depth but tells everyone they squat 495 for reps and screams while there doing it), text more then exercise, or have No gym etiquette and don't know how to rack weights..... please stay away ‍ read more
