Overrated, slow service and a weird menu of tastes that make as much sense as the none working computers at the tables. Don't bother...

We learned about the restaurant from a group of travel bloggers we've used for trips both in the US and globally. The restaurant is located on two floors in Henry's Bell Tower, near the Powder Tower. As some have noted, the restaurant is on the pricier side. However, the food is so well prepared that if you are in the mood for a splurge in a unique location, you should go for it. My husband, stepson, and I had three different traditional Czech entrees -- the wild boar ragout, the duck breast, and the venison with dumplings -- and all three were outstanding. Combined with a traditional Czech pils, you can't go wrong. We skipped dessert in favor of a fresh chimney cake on our walk back to the hotel. The restaurant took us a little early for our reservation, which was helpful as we were tired from our day of flying and ready to get to bed. The service struck a nice balance between being attentive and not overly so. The crowd was a mix of tourists and locals enjoying a nice dinner. The vibe was casual and unstuffy. I would recommend and would definitely go back there if given the opportunity.

The sauce seemed to have been made from a can (1 star off) as the diced tomatoes tasted different than the whole tomatoes that were added to the dish later; the whole tomatoes tasted way better. My husband got the pinsa alla diavola, which was like a spicy pepperoni pizza. It was fine, but reminded me of a pizza at a kids' birthday party (1 star off), maybe only slightly better. I made a reservation a month in advance, but did not know I had to specifically request for tables outside on the river. When we arrived, only a few outdoor tables were taken, but was told the rest were reserved, so we were seated indoors instead. When we finished our dinner, the same few outdoor tables were occupied. I don't know why the restaurant couldn't just stagger the guests for the outdoor tables according to their reservation times.

It was my second visit to Prague so I was taking my time to see more than the "must see things." As I said, I stumbled onto the restaurant because I was taking in the park where artists were painting, people were reading and I pulled out my phone to use the Merlin app to identify birds that were singing. It was totally picturesque. But I wasn't hungry. So I regretfully moved on without eating there. Imagine the elation a few days later when someone in our group booked a dinner reservation for us at the same place I was regretting having missed! With a group of a dozen of us, I think someone ordered everything on the menu. We were all thrilled. We had appetizers , cocktails and entrees -- everything we had was great! The restaurant is family-owned and we were treated to the son being a primary server for our group. Now and then dad was part of the picture too and we enjoyed the added dynamic. Pretty sure the son is on point for Americans as his English was on point. They were great hosts!

Be aware that this is a Michelin star restaurant and it's fine dining, so reservations are a must. Don't expect to just walk in. And to experience the food, I always order the full tasting menu. Any shortened version is just not enough, in my opinion. In addition to the full degustation menu, we also ordered a full non-alcoholic pairing. Every dish was like a work of art. It's hard to pick just one dish. However, the best was probably the deer. One of the chefs even prepares it in front of you.

I truly could live happily on toast, boiled potatoes, fruit, and Diet Coke. I'm also both a vegetarian and someone with a fairly limited palate, so I didn't think Field would be a hit for me. WOW was this an amazing experience! First: gorgeous space. Comfy tables, set far enough apart so we didn't feel crowded, and it didn't get loud. Beautiful artwork on the ceiling. Bright. Cheery. We loved it. We are visiting our son who lives a few hours south of Prague. My husband and son are fabulously adventurous eaters and they gifted me with this outing to Field, a Friday lunch reservation at 1:30 pm. Lunch seems the perfect time to come as the restaurant was not totally booked and we had so much attention from staff, including the front desk, wait staff, sommelier, and bartender. But I'm guessing dinner would be a blast, too. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Our lead waitress was Michaela, and she was the most polished and professional server I've ever met!! We felt so well cared for. In our 3 person party we had me: a vegetarian, and our son who has severe food allergies, to peanuts, pine nuts, and most nuts. 2 of the 3 don't drink any alcohol. Amazingly, it was not a problem at all. In fact, they were prepared!! There was a vegetarian prix fixe menu, with both a large and a smaller option, plus we could order the 'non-alcoholic' version of the wine pairings. So we did. My son had phoned ahead to inform them about his food allergies, and Michaela and the bartender confirmed them when we were seated. The staff was so welcoming and completely knowledgeable about ingredients. They did a fantastic job keeping my son safe, like bringing out his dessert first so it would come close to the 5 other pastries that included nuts. The bartender made him a special cocktail that was hazelnut-free. The 'pesto' was made with pumpkin seeds instead of pine nuts. The staff told us the ingredients of every single dish and cocktail!! And literally showed us! Our waitress brought over a tray that included things like snails, crawfish, and artichokes, and then she told us where they'd sourced them in Czechia! Except the crawfish, as we learned they are a protected animal in Czechia, so they are brought in from Germany. We loved that part, hearing where all of these beautiful ingredients came from. I'll include a few photos from both my vegetarian and their regular prix fixe adventures. The pea soup was my favorite! My son said the deer main dish was the 'best thing I've ever eaten, in my entire life'. I didn't take photos of the non-alcoholic cocktails, but those were lovely. Especially a super fun foamy pomegranate one!

The wait staff speaks English and the menu is translated in English as well. My boyfriend and I had the warm octopus and "tiger prawn" appetizer to start. Portion wasn't quite enough to split generously between the two of us but it was enough for both of us to have a taste. The prawns weren't quite big enough to be called prawns - they were more like the size of medium shrimp, however they were quite juicy and not dry at all. The octopus was very tender and cooked just right. The vegetables were crisp, not soggy, and paired very well with the shrimp and the octopus when eaten all together. I had the flank steak for my entree. The chef cooked it medium rare just as I requested. However I think the slice of meat that I got was a bit on the tough side. Instead, I highly highly recommend the deer medallions that my boyfriend ordered. The deer was cooked perfectly rare and they were so tender - it had the same consistency as a filet mignon, and with none of the game-y taste that exotic meats can have. I finished dinner with their very last slice of raspberry cake. This, too, was fantastic. The tartness of the raspberries balanced well with the creaminess of the cake. The white chocolate drizzle gave it a slightly sweet note throughout without being overwhelming. Overall the dinner came out to 1778 CZK (about $87.87) before tip for one appetizer, two entrees, one desert, and one bottle of Czech Cabernet Sauvignon. Please note that the bill includes a cover/seating charge. Both my boyfriend and I left feeling very full. The restaurant does accept credit cards - I used my MasterCard (my Amex didn't work for some reason) and left my tip in cash.
