"You need bread, try the bakery You need lovin', look here,…read morebaby I got just what you need" (The Doors) Well, whatever your needs might be, you'll probably take care of it at Giuseppina's Italian Bakery, because they really do have it all. Their website, counters, shelves, and showcases offer you temptations everywhere you look. Want a pastry? What kind of a question is that....sure you do, so how on Earth are you going to choose between these? Cannoli, Tiramisu, 3 kinds of mousse, eclairs, frosted or plain brownies (are you bold enough to get a brownie with peanut butter buttercream frosting?), cream horns, rum rolls, an amazing peach concoction of sweet dough soaked with peach juice and rum and filled with vanilla pudding (!), Sfogliatelle, Zeppol, cream puffs, NY style cheesecake, fruit slices (peaches and strawberries with whipped cream layers and frosting), pasticiotti, cappuccino slices, Amaretto Squares, Limoncello Cake Slices and Chocolate Brownie Cake Slices. And there's more - miniature pastries, Cheese danish, apple, raspberry and blueberry turnovers, Cranberry Orange scones, blueberry scones, chive scones, and roasted red pepper scones, lemon and cherry squares. Get the picture? And I haven't mentioned their Italian cookies, 25 cake varieties, cupcakes, cake pops, pizza slices, sandwiches and stuffed breads. The truth is, this place is fantastic and is clearly in the top ten percent of Italian bakeries we've visited. We picked up an assortment of cake slices, a croissant, a scone, and a donut yesterday. They all looked amazing! We started off splitting that donut, and it was great -very light, not too sweet and just plain delicious. Shout out to the young lady who waited on us, she was pleasant and friendly, and our interaction was a far contrast to some of the less than favorable interactions reported by other Yelpers. PRO TIP 1) Don't worry about parking- they're in a shopping center with plenty of parking. 2) How good does their fig, prosciutto and Asiago cheese stuffed bread sound?

"Top of the list King of the hill…read moreA number one" (Frank Sinatra) We've been to a ton of Italian bakeries over the years. But I don't think we've ever fallen as head-over-heels in love with one as we did when we set foot into the Russo Pastry Shop. It's one of the most visually stunning bakeries I've ever seen! Walking into the store reminded me of the moment in the Wizard of Oz movie when the images transform from black and white into color. That's because vibrant, bright, gorgeous colors are everywhere inside Russo's. An embarrassment of riches are everywhere in the form of cannolis, cookies, pastries, and cake slices, And if you want some savory treats to accompany your sweet treats, well... no worries because Russo has pizzas, calzones, grinders, frozen pastas, parmigianas, and soups. We picked up a gorgeous slice of White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake, and it was so fantastic it's hard to put into words. We went into their freezer case and picked up two entrees -eggplant parmigiana and chicken parmigiana. They were priced as a $16.99 BOGO deal. We had both last week, and the portions in the containers were easily splitable for the two of us. The chicken parm seemed to have more inside the container than the eggplant did, and we both thought it was better than the eggplant. In essence we ended up with four dinner portions for just $16.99. Do the math-that's a tremendous value. After you do the math, do yourself a favor and take a ride over to Russo's for a fantastic experience.

I all bought two slices of pizza - one was spinach ricotta, and other meatball parm. Both were very generously loaded w toppings. Both were very good, but definitely below New Haven-style. I guess I'm a pizza snob. They were just a bit doughy for my taste. So, 5 stars for the pastry, 3.5 for the slices, overall rounded to 4.25. 4 Yelp stars

Great, family run business who gives back to their community. Josh the owner is just a great human…read more We love to support local whenever we can. Items can be pricey, but you get what you pay for. Some of my favorites: oatmeal bread, blueberry pancake cupcakes, strawberry rolls, early riser rolls - to name a few. We also love their apple crumble pie, their pepperoni picnic bread, and their sugar cookie pie around the holidays! For me the coffee is hit or miss - sometimes it's amazing other times I don't love it ... maybe have to do with the syrups I choose to be honest. They currently have a bakery location in Ellington and an additional drive thru location down the road in Ellington, a location in Stafford, and will be opening in Hartford in 2026. You can also find them at the outdoor Ellington farmers markets on Saturdays. Highly recommend checking them out. Their staff are all beyond pleasant as well. It's a good bakery, stuff is always fresh and the flavors in each of their cupcakes, muffins, breads, and other misc bakery items is present and forward. They know that they are good, and charge accordingly. Given that there's no direct competition in a 10 mile radius (and I would argue even past that 10 mile radius the pickings are slim) the price is justifiable for the quality you get. As someone who treks a lot around the state, I find that there are many bakeries that do similar if not better items for comparable if not lower prices. But to ask someone to drive 30-60 minutes just to get something a couple bucks cheaper that's tastes about the same? It's a hard sale. I will say that Luanne's is the best in that area of the state, not including the small boutique places that are well off the beaten path. I still come here for the view and ambiance, but I don't order much of their food.

The employees did not rush or intrude while we looked at the options. Very good social awareness. Happily answered questions. - Vibe: Small, hyper-local bakery. Mostly people who seemed to be regulars. Not busy. - Pricing: Very fair! We got 5 items for $14 and some change. So a little under $3/item - Food: SO GOOD. We got 2 donuts (sugar and glazed, biggest donuts I've seen in my life btw), a brownie, a chocolate cupcake, and a ham & cheese croissant (again, biggest croissant i've seen in my life). The sweets were perfect. The croissant came cold but reheated well in the air fryer. Overall a hidden gem. My only complaint (which is a borderline non-issue) is I wish they used a different packaging for the brownie. The fudge top completely stuck to the wrapper they used. I had to scrape it out of the wrapper and put it back on the brownie before eating.

Not a very large place tucked away in a neighborhood type setting. Plenty of delicious options for you to check out and purchase. Breads, donuts, fruit bars......the list goes on and on! I picked up a dozen donuts to take in to work. The Boston creams and the jelly donuts are HUGE. People weren't kidding about that, they're the size of my hand! Most folks aren't going to be able to eat more than one. I seriously struggled with two........and the flavor of the donuts were wonderful. Like they used to make them back in the day. Way better than DD, Chmura's puts DD to ABSOLUTE shame. Check them out you won't be sorry! I'll be going back for sure!
