As longtime members of the Parkrose Community, my parents occasionally interacted with the family that owns and operates Realty Brokers. My parents called them "very nice people". We enlisted this company years ago for the sale of my Grandma's property and the purchase of my older Brothers house as well. One of the owner's sons who assisted us with those transactions was a decent person and made sure everything went smoothly. It was strange to us to learn he had moved on to start his own Realty company. That should've been a red flag.. My Mom passed away in 2014, and my Dad required expensive full-time care in 2016. This forced us to quickly put the family home on the market and find a place for my physically challenged sister (who lived with my parents her entire life). In early Spring 2016, we enlisted Realty Brokers to sell Mom and Dad's home in Parkrose. The Owner told us not to worry about fixing anything or shaping anything up, he directed us to sell everything, hurry up and get my "distracting sister" out of the house, and assured us he had several buyers clamoring to start a bidding war on the home. After all, it was "a white hot market". So many terrible experiences followed for the next 7 months. It started with them pricing the house $40,000 higher than estimate, and absolutely horrible pics of the home were shown on the Real Estate websites. After several weeks, we were told that in order to find serious buyers, we would have to spend thousands of dollars to fix a bunch of items after all. This wouldn't have been too bad at the beginning, but we were told this 60 days after posting the house. Anything on the market longer than 15 days at the time was a big turn off for prospective buyers. We patched and painted walls, removed carpet, tore down a pool and rotting deck, installed a Radon system in the basement, and removed a wood stove to name a few.. All while being led to believe the next prospective "more qualified buyer" was right around the corner. The only offers they were able to generate were on contracts and extreme "low balls". We were beginning to feel deceived at every juncture, including Realty Brokers holding us to a six month contract! Learn from our mistake, never ever sign a contract for that long. They knew we had to pay off my sisters new living arrangement as part of the wishes of our parents. We believe the manipulation was done so we would spend every penny to fix it up so the daughter (who was our primary Realtor), could buy it at $100,000 below market value. They took full advantage of us and the situation. We were "up against it" and they knew it from the very first day. Here is the clincher, my wife was accidentally copied on a text among the family members that started with "Laughing at.." and then it showed an email my wife had just sent explaining why she was heartbroken over losing our parents then having to deal with this home sale nightmare. I've waited 15 months to write this review because I didn't want raw emotion to dictate what I typed! We would never ever recommend Realty Brokers ever again. Simply classless and untrustworthy. read more
