Throughout the process she was a valuable consultant and I always thought she had our best interests in mind, which I really appreciated. Colleen went above and beyond to make purchasing our first home as comfortable as possible! She always came to viewings with all the information in hand and was eager to move on to another home if something didn't feel right. She never made us feel pressured or discouraged when looking for a home and kept such a positive and delightful attitude. She gave us great advice throughout the process and was just such a joy to work with. She helped us navigate a stressful sale with a limited budget and limited locations and we ended up with our dream home! I cannot recommend her enough, thank you Colleen!!!

You're the best. If I ever buy or sell anything again in Portland you guys will be my go to A-N-G-E-L-S! I could write more, but I did when you asked for your last request on your E-mail, the letter of recommendation was longer than here to eternity, unfortunately, I think it erased and never sent. PREPARED: We had just moved from out of state and wanted to buy a home during COVID, Oregon fires, and with an infant. She provided us with educational information about the home buying process including timelines, Oregon real estate, and fantastic insights to the market in the communities we were looking to buy. Most of our interactions were via email or text which was perfect for us due to COVID. She always responded promptly to our questions and provided great advice about what and how to negotiate at various stages during the home buying process. ORGANIZED: Lindsay proactively sent us check in emails to let us know what was in progress, what's next in the process, and what (if anything) we needed to do. To reiterate how organized she was, after we closed she sent us a digital folder with all of the papers and other materials we signed/were associated with the property. It was so nice to have everything in one spot that we can easily and quickly reference. Buying during COVID: We felt safe as Lindsay and Clara both wore masks, were socially distant, and brought extra hand sanitizer. For each home we toured, we were provided with gloves and shoe coverings. She also used a digital signature platform to review and sign documents so we didn't have to do so in person. We do not have enough words to describe how easy and fantastic the home buying process was with Lindsay. Aside from the professional side of things, it's also very clear how committed Lindsay is to supporting the small businesses and charities in the area, which is the cherry on top! We received such thoughtful and local themed goodies that supports the community. We will definitely work with Lindsay again on our future real estate needs. TL;DR: work with Lindsay, you won't be disappointed!

On a personal note...Heather has been my go-to for all things real estate for 13+ years. She helped me buy when I landed in Portland in 2010, sell and buy in 2014, and sell in 2023 when I decided to stop owning. Each situation--buying in a new city; selling and buying during divorce; and needing to sell after a long illness--came with challenges both logistical and emotional, and Heather steered me through all of them with heaps of kindness, deep-seated expertise, and always-on judgment of the market. I am thoroughly pleased and satisfied with all the outcomes, i.e., I got what I wanted and needed, including the right prices. Heather's unique specialty is making all the usual (and unusual!) processes as painless as possible. Perhaps most importantly, she is THERE for you. And even in a city stuffed with agents, that is rare. I simply would never want to work with anyone else.

Hilary & Darcie are a real estate dream team!…read more We were buying - our first home, too. So, as expected, we had all the questions. Many of which I assume are in the "there's no such thing as a dumb question, but..." category :). Hilary & Darcie graciously answered them all, quickly and with plenty of details. As our purchase took place during COVID-19, house tours looked a little different, but they helped us navigate that too. From ensuring we could get in and view a house quickly, to making us feel comfortable with proper PPE and social distancing practices. When we found *the* house, they were quick to draft up an offer and walk us through what everything meant (it's a long contract, but important to understand!). They helped us find and schedule inspections, get bids during negotiations, and coordinate repairs with the seller. And because they work seamlessly as a team, they were available 7-days a week and were able to jump right in no matter who we spoke with last. As a first-time buyer, it would have been really easy to get lost in all of this, but I was never worried that we were missing a step. Hilary & Darcie had our backs throughout the entire process, which was a huge relief! And even as we started moving in and looking at some small upgrades and customizations, they have continued to be a wonderful resource for connecting to local professionals across a wide variety of services. I highly recommend working with Hilary & Darcie - you'll be glad you did!

John L Scott Real Estate - Our house, ready to sell!

Woodstock, Southeast Portland

Terri Robertson is the best!…read more We found Terri by total accident, we wanted to tour a house her co-worker was selling, and she was available on short notice to help us out (since we weren't seriously looking and didn't have a realtor of our own yet). We liked her so much at that first walk-through, we decided to ask her to work with us to find our new home. The buying process was super easy for us, Terri made a few good suggestions of properties to consider, but mostly she was always available to help us tour properties, and is VERY knowledgeable about both historic homes and the Portland real estate market. She notices details and asks good questions, she's got an eye on what original fixtures and features of a house are a benefit, and which might give you a headache in the future. When it came time to make an offer, her market analysis had the price of the house EXACTLY what the appraisal came in at. She also wrote the contract with several little advantages for us (yay!), took care of getting bids for a sewer scope and a credit for the fix, and got a radon abatement situation handled. Overall, we were tremendously happy with the process, and really liked her as a person -- you spend a lot of time talking with your agent! It's important to like them! SO! When it came time to sell our old house, a year later, we contacted her again. Selling WAY more work, of course, but she helped every step of the way, from dealing with our tenants, to finding contractors for necessary repairs, to fun styling details! I re-did all of the lighting myself, and Terri helped to pick all of the new fixtures out. She was also available to do two very detailed walk-throughs to help get our "to do" list in order and make sure there was nothing an inspector would take issue with. In the end, our inspection was a breeze! (Well, except for another dang sewer scope problem). Given how much MORE time we spent with her in the selling process, I cannot give her high enough praise. Really, she knows this market well, understands what you MUST do to sell, what has good ROI, and what stuff can probably be skipped. In the end, we got the exact price we were hoping for (which was more than her co-workers thought we could do! Hah!). If you're looking to BUY or SELL, definitely work with Terri!

This review is about one of John L Scott realty's agents, Cassandra Marks. I recently sold my home…read moreand she was the buyer's agent. She was the worst person to work with and I felt bad for my agent having to deal with her directly. I realize that her first obligation was to her buyers, but she had no respect or consideration for my schedule at all. Appointments for various inspections were made on her end and I was often given only 1 day notice when I would need to be out of the house for them. I wasn't "asked" if these times and days would work for me, I was "told" this is what was happening. When the appraisal was scheduled, again without asking me beforehand, I told my agent that I would be at home as I had some things I needed to do that morning, like cook food for my lunch at work. Ms. Marks was not at all happy that I would be there, but I told my agent she should have asked before she set up the appt. On January 25th, she and her buyers set up a home inspection through Balanced Inspections based out of Sandy, OR. I am sure this is an inspector that Ms. Marks recommended. The inspector checked my furnace, and found it to be fine and in working order. By the time I got home from work that same day, it was no longer working! No one would take responsibility for it, not even an "I'm sorry to hear that." The inspector called it "unfortunate timing", while I called it "suspicious timing". I had to wait for a week and a half for the part that was needed, at the end of January, with overnight temperatures in the 30's. I had to buy several space heaters that barely kept my house at around 60 degrees, and ran up my electric bill. The final cost of the repair was nearly $1300. After the inspections, it was determined that the sewer line needed to be replaced. Two companies were sent out to give estimates for the repair; both were recommended by Ms. Marks. Both came back with outrageous bids of $12K-$15K and I told my realtor that I would be looking around for more bids, as is my right. Less than a day after I told him that, Ms. Marks was hounding him to get me to set up an appt with one of them for the repair! I reiterated that I was not paying those prices and that it would take a couple of days to secure other bids. In the back of my mind, I was trying to figure out why Ms. Marks was chomping at the bit to get me to hire one of these companies--a possible kick back for her, perhaps? Within two days, I found a bid from a smaller, local company that could do it for $5K and I set up a time with him to have the work done. When Ms. Marks found out, she called him and grilled him about the time frame and the price! He called me back and said that he "Didn't like the way she came at me" and told me he was not comfortable taking the project because he didn't want to get in the middle of whatever was going on with the buyer's agent! I saw red!! I called my agent and told him that I did not appreciate having Ms. Marks screw this up and that it was none of her business whom I chose to hire! Why was this woman so intent on going with one of the other companies? My agent spoke to her and she claimed that she was only concerned with the timing of the repair that was scheduled. It had to be more than that for the guy to back out of doing it! Thankfully, another company was found by my realtor that could do it in a specific time frame, that was more in line with a price I could afford, which was not $15K. Since I am moving out of state and will have to quit my job and I have been very specific about the fact that I would not be giving notice at my job until closing to protect myself. I cannot afford to have it all fall apart and be unemployed. Therefore I would need 2 1/2 weeks to vacate the house. This, I am sure, is not an unusual request for someone moving out-of-state. When I brought it up again to make sure that everyone was on the same page, Ms. Marks first comment was, "This is getting out-of-control!" I was not impressed with her lack of professionalism! I jumped through all of her hoops to do most of the repairs that her buyers requested and the only thing that I personally needed was extra time to move and that was her response. If it would have been up to her, I would have also been out an extra $10K to do the sewer repair, Needless to say, I would warn against anyone having to deal with this woman. She might be a great buyer's agent, but she was a nightmare to work with as a seller. Ms. Marks needs to realize that a successful transaction (and a positive review) means that one needs to work with both parties. This is not a skill that she possesses. It was so stressful and awful trying to deal with her that I came very close to ending the contract on more than one occasion.
