Regarding buyer's agent, reached out to M Kauhola about a property. Did not receive a response. In a fast-moving market, bare minimum expectation is the agent lets you know they received your text/email/call but they are busy and will get back to you. If sick, create an out of office reply. It's been more than 24 hours with no word about the property I wanted to make an offer on. While waiting I pulled my own comps from the assessor's website and now I've begun looking for a new buyer's agent. The communication is below my expectations. My Fiance and I came across Winston Murray on an ad on Zillow. Being first time home owners we weren't sure what to expect but I'm glad we found Winston! He's young which was appealing to us because we are in our 20's but he was very professional and really good at listening to what we wanted in a home. I still remember the second time we met, he had us meet him and he drove us around the area we were looking in, to give us a lay of the land and to better figure out what we were looking for. I thought that was great and I was surprised someone would take us in their personal vehicle. He was generally great to talk to and always responded to all of our questions and concerns. He has an assistant Aly, who I also want to say was awesome. She drove all the way out to Gresham a few times while having great fashion sense I have to say :) When it came time to do paperwork, Winston was always super on top of it and sent documents over ASAP so we could move on the house. Immediately after closing, we were over the moon about our experience with Laurie and Laura. However, over the 16 months since then, we have encountered (very) expensive issue after issue with our house (foundation issues, undetected cesspool, major electrical issues, etc), costing us far, far more than what we anticipated. All of these issues were either overlooked or minimized in the inspection process. While we love our house and neighborhood, and the homebuying process was really smooth and stress free, the first year of homeownership has been very stressful and extremely expensive, and we feel like the L-team's inspection people did not adequately do their job. read more

I was referred to an agent with Think through Zillow. They were prompt in getting in touch and setting up an initial meeting yet sloppy in their approach to helping me purchase my first home. They never seemed to take me as a serious buyer and kept focusing on me getting a preapproved mortgage when I had cash to buy a home. Therefore, when I was ready to put in an offer, the realtor I was working with didn't take me seriously and did nothing. Someone else put in an offer instead. The realtor wasn't willing to help me put in a back up offer despite how badly I wanted the house. I chose to fire them and work with someone else in finding a home. In my first meeting with the new realtor, I found out just how sloppy my realtor had been(didn't give me certain documents or have me review and sign things that realtors should in Oregon). Be leery of working with these guys, there are better realtors out there. read more

I would definitely think twice before using Think Realty. As someone who has been involved in several real estate transactions, working with Melinda Hood makes me think it could not be worse. If you need a realtor who tells the truth, returns phone calls, or does what they say they are going to do, this is not the firm for you. An extreme lack of professionalism, follow through, communication, and really understanding of how business works. really - stay away and save yourself the frustration! This review has nothing to do with making an offer and not getting the property. i have no problem with not getting a property when it is handled ethically and professionally by the listing agent - which was not the case here. A listing agent who won't communicate, doesn't follow through and doesn't tell the truth is unacceptable, and thats what you can expect here. read more

We were new to Portland and she was incredibly helpful with neighborhood overviews and suggestions before we even got to town. After looking at a few places together and asking lots of questions she quickly understood what type of house we were looking for and didn't waste our time looking at places that weren't a good match. We found a wonderful home and Charity helped us write a strong offer that was accepted. Part of the deal was that the previous owners would rent back from us for a month and Charity was also extremely helpful negotiating with them so we could start some work on the house while they were still in it. PHENOMENAL! Despite the Portland marketplace being incredibly intense and clearly not a buyers-market, I am completely blown away by how seamless Laura Wood and Laurie Gilmer of Think Real Estate made the entire process of purchasing our new home! They were incredible, and we absolutely loved working with these to talented, smart and caring folks. I feel compelled to share how phenomenal the entire experience was because I know how difficult and stressful buying property is (we were dreading starting the process) - and I want to make sure others have a chance to benefit from the good fortune we had in finding these partners who made that dread go away completely. It still feels like it shouldn't have been as smooth and free of stress as it was - and I completely and totally accredit it to their amazing hard work. During the house hunting process, I always felt like I was out viewing homes with a friend (though we'd never met before deciding to work together) who happened to be an expert - and never once felt like we were out with someone that had a commission in mind. Our best interest was always the most important factor - even when my partner and I might not have been focused on the right things. There were a few occasions where we could have been easily swayed/convinced we'd found the right home, but just like a friend that is looking out for you we were always made aware of things to consider that weren't immediately visible to us. I was so appreciative of that, because it confirmed right away that we were working with someone who would focus on doing right by us (vs. taking an easy route towards a faster commission). Finally, upon finding the right home and dealing with dozens (yes, more than 12) of bids, an incredibly fast/escalated closing period, a change in the company we were financing with, and all the other stressful things that come with buying a home, our realtor was always there 24/7 to ensure everything that needed to happen did. We always received incredible guidance and it always focused on our best interest. I would reach out with so many questions - and continue to text some random questions we come across, even after closing - and am always greeted with super-fast communication and all the help I could ever hope for. This is our second property purchase, and it was absolutely night-and-day different working with this team. We actually enjoyed it. I honestly can't say enough good things. Anyone remotely questioning who will make the process (and their lives) easier - please talk to Laurie or Laura at Think.
