The installer they recommended and use (3rd party Pro Gas) never gave us a quote for the install, never booked an appt and would just randomly show up at our house expecting the fireplace to be ready for install. Once my GC got the fireplace framed their installer randomly showed up to finish whatever work he needed to do without sending me a quote. When he went to do that work, he didn't tell anyone he would be there so our GC wasn't onsite and I got a rude call from a male employee at Yankee Doodle expecting me to know specific height details as if I were a GC. He was rude and kept pushing me to give him that information but I kept explaining I am not the GC I do not know, my GC is on vacation and no one told me they would be at my home today to do this. My renovation is a full house reno so we were not living there during the renovation so its not like I could easily be there whenever their installer decided to show up. Again, sad to have to write this review but they highly recommended Pro Gas (and said they still will after I gave them this feedback) and I'd hate to see other customers get slammed with a huge bill and no communication or approval for that bill.

Our story: Several months after buying our house last year 2016, we called Ener-G Tech to have someone come out to clean/service our 3 gas (propane) fire places in our house. Also make sure they were safe to use without any gas leaks with the old units. They answered our phone call and we got scheduled for them to come to our house within a few days. Paul showed up on time and did an excellent job servicing/cleaning our old fireplace units and also took the time to talk to us about perhaps a different operating unit that you wouldn't have to get on the floor to start the pilot light. A few days after he was at our house we made the time to drive to Stratford to check out their show room and see their gas fire place units set up and operating. (Great show room by the way!!) We fell in love with the idea of just a click of a button to start them! No more climbing on the floor trying to light them. Right their we ordered 3 new automatic starting units with a click of a button. A week later all units were in at their store and their contracted plumber picked them up and got scheduled with us to come out and install them. (Please note: We learned plumbers install the gas fire places because of the pipes.) Here it is, almost a year later after purchasing/installing these new gas fireplace units and we LOVE THEM!! We will continue doing business with Ener-G Tech and will recommend them to anyone!

Just this past week Richie & Charlie needed to use some extra elbow grease and really work at the creosote build up I had after apparently burning bad wood this past winter. They were fantastic from start to finish. Clean, on-time, friendly & educational as well. They even inspected my wood pile and gave me some do's & don'ts going forward. 15 years ago James "Jimmy" installed a gas furnace liner. It's still working very well & with proper specs to what the furnace requires vs what was before. This was verified with my regular furnace guy as well. Thank again Jimmy and the crew!!!

Called NYC Fireplaces and spoke to Stephanie who was extremely polite, knowledgeable and helpful. The unit was $2000 less than it would have been from the Bellmore store. NYC fireplaces installed the unit in a week and a half and the install came out perfectly. Raphi meticulously cut the siding for the vent cap and the install came out perfectly. After that company delayed my installation several times, blaming it on the unavailability of the particular stove I wanted from Vermont Castings, I reached out to The Stove Store and More and was glad that I did. John indicated that there was no shortage of the stove I wanted, and that he could have it installed in two weeks at a price that was also quite a bit cheaper than the original store (I hadn't even told John the price the other store was charging me). When I called the other store back to let them know that other suppliers could get the stove that I wanted, they responded by saying they now had the stove and were ready to install. Due to that other store's dishonesty I cancelled the project and instead purchased from John at The Stove Store and More. True to his word, John had the stove installed in two weeks. I couldn't be happier with the way it all worked out. About two years after installing the Vermont Castings stove, the dampener plate cracked. I reached out to The Stove Store and More to get a replacement, and John shipped one immediately. I highly recommend this place.

Last December, the…read moreowner, "Rich," came to my 1793 house and talked me into purchasing ventless gas logs for my fireplace for approx $2,600. I used them all of last winter with no problem. Fast forward only 7 months to July. I was out of town on vacation and I got a random message from my dog walker that these logs he sold me had self ignited. Mind you I was on vacation. Thank God the dog walker was there to see the fire. The next day, Rich came out and ordered a part. He said rain had seeped in the chimney and wet the unit causing them to reignite. Once the part came in after Rich and his wife were on speaker phone saying if they can even get this fixed it is going to happen again because of the seepage. At this point I asked Rich if he could just give me a refund. Then Rich started yelling loudly at me telling me things like electricity should never go where there's water. If I had read other yelp reviews prior to purchasing the logs I would have noticed that yelling at customers is a pattern for Rich. He continued by saying "you would never put a TV under there would you?" I was confused why he asked if I would put a tv in my fireplace, but whatever." He kept yelling irately and it became a heated argument on both sides. The minute I asked for a refund, he stopped working on the gas logs and left me with what's pictured below. After he left we emailed his store and asked to go in to work this out. I was told they won't be doing anything for me and that I am not allowed back in their store. All and all, I called this chimney service and ended up being talked into buying approx $2,600 of gas logs. They are chimney experts and never mentioned that water that comes down a chimney could cause the gas to spontaneously ignite. I asked for a refund and was immediately yelled at and was banned from going in the store to figure out a resolution. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE at Rich and John's. I wouldn't recommend this business to ANYONE. They have my approx $2,600 and left me with what is in the picture below.
