Despite our pleas for help, My Affordable Flooring will not do anything to rectify the situation other than notify/file a claim with the manufacturer/distributor, because this is a "product issue." Below is a recap of our experience spanning over 4 months with delayed responsiveness from MAF. Thousands of dollars spent with no resolution. · 2/27/21 - Called MAF and left voicemail. Explained we are experiencing problems with the flooring and the install was less than a year ago. · 3/3/21 - Contact from MAF requesting pictures of defective flooring. · 3/4/21 - Photos of defective flooring sent to MAF via text, as requested. · 3/8/21 - No update from MAF. Contact to MAF & confirmed receipt of photos. Told that Project Manager (PM) needs to review photos and that "we'll be in touch soon." · 3/16/21 - No update from MAF. Contacted requesting update. Site visit to our home scheduled for 3/22/21. · 3/22/21 - MAF PM visited our home to inspect the defective flooring. Told us they have been getting reports of issues with this particular brand of flooring. He said he will contact distributor this afternoon. · 3/31/21 - No update from MAF. Sent an email to PM requesting update. Received error message reporting his email does not exist. · 3/31/21 - Left voicemail at MAF office requesting update. Rec'd return voicemail stating that office staff asked PM on 3/29/21 for update and didn't hear back. Also informed us that PM's email has not been set up yet and to call him directly. · 4/5/21 - Telephone call to PM. He says someone at the distributor(?) is on vacation and he will file a claim and get back to me this week ((NOTE: he originally said the claim would be filed 3/22)). · 4/10/21 -No update from MAF. Call to PM requesting update. Stated claim has been filed with distributor. PM also explained that MAF will not replace the flooring and it is up to the distributor. · 6/21/21 -No update from MAF. Call and left voicemail requesting call back. We did not receive an update in over two months since the claim was submitted per PM. Email from new office manager stating "unfortunately, there is nothing we can do right now until we hear back from him [distributor] letting us know what's going on".

The bathrooms included a steam shower and a large shower with floating marble benches that he installed. The house is from 1908 and the walls were challenging to get the tile installed and look perfect. Tony was definitely the right person for this job. The waterproofing of the showers and steam room was thorough and Tony was great at explaining what he was going to do, and explaining what he had done. He left the job areas clean and worked quickly coming every day including weekends to complete the job. His company is definitely the one to use for any tiling work.

There were two staircases that also needed to be sanded and stained. The floors had been carpeted and the floors had a layer of old foam stuck in many areas. There was also over 20 areas of flooring he removed and replaced with spare wood flooring to remove old gouges or damaged flooring. He did this in two stages a month apart so I could move furniture and complete other projects. He is prompt, does exceptional and meticulous work and left the job area clean each day. The floors look flawless and the finish is clear, smooth and beautiful. Phase 2 flooring is the company to call for floor refinishing!!

Extended Review: I was you - I didn't have anyone who knew a floor installer for hardwood, and I was trying to google-fu my way into finding one. I stumble across Ciprian, see the 5.0 google rating at 360+ reviews, and think either "this guy must be amazing" or "he's got a great review bot setup." Turns out he's just that good. I sent him an email about wanting to add hardwood flooring to two bedrooms in my Chicago condo, ideally matching the existing hardwood flooring throughout other areas of the home. He responded within the day with a rough estimate, and within 3 days made a visit to take measurements and produced a precise estimate that night, along with a diagram of what wood species my floor was and what he recommended. The next day, we had the install scheduled for 3 weeks later. He set expectations upfront that the color wouldn't be a perfect match since it wouldn't be the exact same wood, exact same stain, and all the flooring wouldn't be installed at the exact same time. Ciprian delivered the flooring a couple days after that. I didn't know this, but apparently it's best to have the wood acclimate to where it gets installed prior to being installed (for expansion / contracting based on temp / moisture). Ciprian knows this, because Ciprian knows wood. On the first day of the install, him and his partner had the carpet removed hardwood slinging immediately while also replacing some old base plywood boards free of charge; they finished installing the boards in both rooms that first day. oved When it was time to stain, he wanted me there to approve it - he mixed 5 different stains and placed them throughout the rooms to compare lighting with the existing boards. He then went back and forth tweaking the best stain making it darker/lighter until he got the perfect match - it was a point of personal pride to try and match it as close as possible. Ciprian is professional, punctual, responsive, diligent, efficient, and passionate about his wood species (which is a massive green flag for the guy installing your hardwood) and most importantly about the quality of work he provides. He and his team finished a day early, matched the new floor's stain against the current floors perfectly, and left me with a new standard for contractors that's going to be really hard to measure up against. If you made it this far, you can take the final step and shoot an email to Ciprian for whatever project you have because you've found your guy - he is him.

On his first visit, Carlos thoroughly cleaned and sanded the deck. He also went above and beyond by power-washing underneath it, an area that desperately needed attention. I had not asked him to do that, so I really appreciated the extra effort. When he returned to stain the deck, the finished result looked fantastic. Carlos was prompt, honest, upfront about pricing, and clear about what needed to be done. I am extremely happy that I hired him, and my deck now looks great and meets my HOA's requirements.
