Very inexperienced employees. They spent most of the time arguing about the proper way to use the equipment and seemed confused about what they were doing. They damaged multiple walls and when I mentioned something they blamed it on my dog, I don't even have a dog. They left a mess when they were done and found empty beer cans in my garbage. We went to Mitchell carpeting for carpet in our bedrooms. My husband and I agreed on the carpet we wanted right away. The guy came out and measured and said he would call us back the next day with an estimate. 3 or so days went by and then we ended up calling them and he had our estimate right in front of him. Not sure why it was taking so long. The installers came 2 weeks later and worked efficiently to install all 3 bedrooms in just under 2 hours. They were a little messy. They left black scuff marks on the wall by our front door. Not sure how they managed that. Mitchell was very nice and their prices were very competitive. Varigated laminate floor pattern ordered. Installers placed the majority of dark pieces on one side of the wall.(subcontractors did return to rearrange pattern) Damaged the wooden shoe base when removing nails. Placed damaged wood as support between floor and stairs. Bull nose pieces not fully secured to the floor. Did not run flooring under dishwasher. Left the floor dangerously slipper with fine soot. I called store, talked with Elizabeth, Mitchell's mom, who is very aggressive and demeaning. I didn't want to pay in full before job completed. Elizabeth threatened me with a lawyer. I paid in full. Now they won't return my calls or emails to finish project. When I asked if they give discounts to customers who have bad experiences. She said my discount was the sub-contractors returning to fix the flooring pattern. Left me angry and embarrassed that I trusted them. read more

Store owner is completely scatterbrained and I have received better customer service from the high school kids at Culver's. When I picked out the carpet I told Mitchell I needed two rooms measured. I followed up days after he was scheduled to measure as I had not heard back. He said he measured both rooms because he didn't know which one to measure, and would call me back with a quote/lead time. Days later still nothing; I call on Saturday and they tell me they are really busy and would try to call me back before they closed with a quote. (If I had not been pressed on time I would have dropped the transaction at this point.) They call back to give quote/lead time and I provide my card number to pay in full, and they asked I come in to sign the receipt. I go to the store two days later to sign but they hadn't run the card because they shredded my card number. At the time of installation, the installer realizes he only has enough carpet for one room and not two. Mitchell calls to tell me he ordered the wrong amount and will rush the order, place the install ahead of the others and let me know status. A week went by and still hadn't heard anything so I had to leave a voicemail requesting status. Magically the carpet arrived same day and was told their next opening was in two days. Funny because I thought I would be bumped up ahead of other installs due to his screw up, as that's what he said. I would never go back or recommend their services. (The only pleasant part of the transaction was dealing with the installer as he was professional and polite.) read more

My husband and I came into the shop on August 5th. We received excellent service when we walked in the door. We took a few carpet boards home on the advice of Elisabeth after she showed us all the different options. We came back on August 9th and placed an order for 3 rooms of carpet, a hallway an a closet. We weren't sure how long it would take. We were so happy to get a call saying they would be there on the 25th. We were very very satisfied with the install. Had Mitchell Carpets install 1200' of carpet a couple weeks ago. There was one visible seam in the upstairs hallway that I wanted them to touch up. First call they said they would have the installer call me to have it taken care of....never heard from the installer. Second call Mitchell Carpets said they don't guarantee that seams won't be noticeable, but will have the installer call us....still nothing. I'm a pretty reasonable person, if the seam wasn't in such a noticeable place, I wouldn't have a gripe. I'm pretty disappointed that Mitchell Carpets does not stand behind their work. read more

We had them install carpet in living room, hall and two bedrooms. They did a beautiful job, can't see any seams. Installers were clean, courteous. Dealing with a carpet retailer today can create a bit of anxiety. Is the carpet or flooring from a quality company, will it be installed properly or am I paying too much for what others are paying for the exact same product and cost of installation. I love to praise people when I get what I want and I'm treated with respect. But here I have to voice my extreme disappointment with Mitchell Carpets and the product they installed in my home. First the installation was well done in a timely manner, the installers were very accommodating. Then, within THREE months, in front of our two main living room chairs, the carpet looked discolored and worn. We wear only slippers while in our home. We have no children and vary rarely have people over. We alerted Mitchell about this, sent pictures but their answer was two foot mats, made by them with our left over carpet, to place in front of the chairs. Over the following NINE months, the carpet took on the look of FIVE YEARS wear with deep dark areas that were not in a pattern like 'track areas' usually form, it was as if we had jumped to various places on the carpet with filthy camping boots and wiggled the wear and filth into those areas! Looking filthy and terrible, we had a PROFESSIONAL, MANUFACTURER-CERTIFIED Carpet Cleaner come to clean the entire carpet - but hose dark areas were still there!!! We called Mitchell Carpets, they came, looked and photographed - "Sorry we can't help what happens after installation, but we'll contact the manufacturer and see what they think." Which sounded reasonable. Marquis Industries in Georgia was the manufacturer of the carpeting. We said we wanted our payment for the carpet refunded, so Marquis sent a 'professional carpet inspector' to look at and test our carpet. Marquis Industries sent us a reply stating that the carpet was fine, but that letter ALSO contained responses to items NOT had nothing to do with our situation! Meaning it was a FORM LETTER. Upset, disappointed and not knowing what to do, a business associate told me to call 'Carpets Plus', tell them the story (as I've written here without Mitchell Carpets name) and ask for their advice. I phoned Carpets Plus and what I got was a retailer who was extremely concerned for what I'd been through and treated me with complete respect while offering what advice they could give! It was the first time I felt I could deal with all this. We decided to not play this "game" between the store and manufacturer and put up with the LOUSY CARPET. Now, THREE years later, our carpet looks like it has had EIGHT years of wear! The ONLY solution to this situation is to GO TO CARPETS PLUS and to WARN the carpet purchasing public that the retailer, Mitchell Carpets, and the carpet's manufacturer, Marquis Industries, had NOT taken FULL RESPONSIBILITY for the PATHETIC QUALITY carpet they sold us. When it came time to recarpet our home, we decide to stop into Mitchell Carpets. A friend had recommended them. When we first walked in to their store, we new we had found where we wanted to purchase. The wife and I had no idea how to purchase carpet as we bought our home as a Spec home and everything had already be selected. Jeff introduced himself to us and welcomed us. He covered what options were available, styles, colors, quality, padding, installation, etc. He then suggested options on as well. Jeff introduced us to Elizabeth who had finished up with another customer, and had a few other ideas on colors as well, and went over how the scheduling for the install works. My wife and I chose some color samples and sample books to take home. We stuck around and chatted with the Pedersen's and soon felt like we were friends. We even got to try some of Elizabeth's mom's homemade cookies. We got home with the samples and proceeded to pick our colors. Elizabeth gave us a call to just follow up, and thank us for coming in. The next day Mitchell was at our home taking the measurements. He also answered all my questions on what to expect during the install and all of our furnishings and what kind of preparations we needed to make. He also help us verify our color choices and told him what carpets we had decided on. We returned to the store later that evening and to return to sample boards and Jeff and Elizabeth had our quote ready. We were pleasantly surprised the end cost of carpeting our entire house, and let Jeff and Elizabeth both know. As for the scheduling, my wife and I scheduled it for 2 weeks later, which worked best for us. Elizabeth even spoke with my wife on how to contact the city for a bulk garbage pick up to get rid of the old. After a bit more chatting and a few handshakes, we left for home. We both thought, how nice this entire process had been, and how friendly and helpful the Pedersens were, and that we both felt like we had met new friends instead of just business owners. The installers arrived right on time, and plain and simple went to work. My wife and I literally did nothing, but watch the entire process throughout the day. All we had to do prior was take down the decorations and such prior to their arrival. They took care of absolutely everything, making sure the floors were clean before putting down the new, to moving all the furnishings, to properly prepping the old carpet properly for disposal, to final clean up. They had the entire project done by 5pm, and were on their way. The 2 man team was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. These 2 guys worked so hard all day. As expected, Elizabeth called later that evening to follow up on the install, and how we liked the results. My wife told her we couldn't be happier with the entire process and the end results. Elizabeth followed again about a week later as well. If your in the market for carpet or flooring, I highly recommend you contact the Pedersen's at MItchell carpets.
