I visited Razava for the first time on a Saturday @ 10am. Staff were kind, restaurant was clean, and service was quick. There was plenty of street parking around 10am, but did start filling up around 11am. What I Got: - Lox on half a Jerusalem bread: 9/10 Every component was so good! The smoked salmon was *chefs kiss*. The Jerusalem bread was perfectly fluffy. Even then, the cherry-on-top was honestly the pickled onions. I wish the bread was toasted a tiny bit more, but that's just my preference. Sourdough, sourdough, sourdough they only sell sourdough but don't let that deter you from the many flavors and shapes it can come in. Loved the brick oven vibe and open airy room of the shop. My first visit came with a welcomed tutorial of the place, a quick overview of what they sell, and some recommendations. I opted for their signature bread (the Razava loaf) and was not disappointed. It's a multigrain sourdough and it was delicious. So many air bubbles. Crisp crust. Rich middle. Awesome with peanut butter. I also wanted to try a bagel and a chocolate chip cookie. Again, would give 3.5 stars if I could do half stars. Was looking for a place with a lighter breakfast option and thought "I drive by this place all the time, time to try it!" I would first note, the food menu is pretty limited, but if you're looking for bread or bagels to take home, you have lots of options. I got a latke pita with an egg and a seasonal latte. Hubs had a burrata and tomato and also had a latte. While both were delicious, our bill with tip was over $60. I think the price point is just a little too high for what you get. Was craving some salmon cream cheese bagels for our weekend brunch menu, so I stopped into Razava to grab some of their popular Jerusalem bagels! Free street parking is available out front and on adjacent streets. The space itself is lovely, especially on this sunny day! Floor to ceiling windows looking out onto Grand Ave makes for a great backdrop to this simple, modern bakery. If you look close, there are little snippets of history throughout the space as well! The barista and cashier were very helpful and friendly during my visit! The Jerusalem bagels were made fresh and paired perfectly with our cream cheese and smoked salmon! Finally, a local place that knows how to serve an espresso. One of my favorite things to do in a city is go for a walk and stop for a coffee or espresso and maybe a small bite to eat. Today I stumbled upon Razava Bread Co. on Grand Ave in St Paul. I ordered an espresso and a baguette. The espresso was served perfectly in an appropriately sized ceramic cup alongside a shot of seltzer water. As it should be. The baguette was crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. It's the closest thing I've found to an actual baguette this side of the Seine. As it should be. The vibe was low-key and neighborly with plenty of seating and windows to let in the morning light. This was my first time here and I wish I grabbed some bread for home. I saw everyone getting the Jerusalem bread and I wish I tried it?? I've never heard of it. I had the shakshuka (small) and it was to die for. I've never had it before but after I had it, I wanted to learn how to make it at home because I loved it so much. I wish it came with more bread. I'm sure I could've ordered more but by the time I needed more, the line was incredibly long. I've heard they run out of bagels on the weekends by the late morning so I'd suggest coming early. Seating is limited for this popular neighborhood spot. Also had the bagel with salmon and it was delightful. The outside of the bagel is quite tough but the inside is sooooo soft. Razava is sourdough heaven for those looking for that characteristic tang. I've been there twice, most recently 5/31 (Saturday). They offer great drip coffee and other caffeine-inna-cup, but we come here for bread. I recommend getting their San Francisco and porridge loaves (they even had samples when we were last there). Your mouth will get a workout if you go the bagel route, which most argue that's a good thing (I'm inclined to agree as long as my jaw doesn't hurt afterwards). I recommend the lovely nutty Jerusalem bagel. I'd recommend passing on the tahini biscuits, very chalky. Their shakshuka is just good. I'd love it if they started offering toast flights so we could try all the breads they offer. Bathrooms were clean and shared with the Japanese restaurant next door. Parking is free on street but it can get pretty crowded since it's a popular area. read more

Oh we got some competition now on grand avenue! This place is . Service was so quick. Got there at 11am. Jerusalem bagel and cream cheese, chai tea came out within 1 minute of me ordering. Cream cheese and bagel were amazing. Great price. Staff is extremely friendly to the point where the New Yorker in me was suspicious. Can't say enough good things. Super cute interior. While I have only picked up bread and schmears from Razava and can't comment on the service or in-house food offerings, the loaves here are immaculate. Quite expensive, but worth it for the flavor, texture, and obvious effort that goes into crafting what can only be considered as an edible masterpiece. Schmears are inventive and will put Philadelphia to shame. Try the triple pepper or beet horseradish- both staples in our home. All in all, the quality and niche offerings make it easy to love supporting a local, century old bakery. read more

The Razava sourdough bread is a darker brown than other sourdough versions maybe because it has whole wheat in it and the crust is baked very dark appearing almost burnt but it isn't burnt. It is also a very wet high hydration dough. This style has become highly desired recently and this bakery is a run away success. I was raised on the classic San Francisco style sourdough so that is my benchmark. They deliver to Westside liquor store in TexaTonka shopping mall in St. Louis Park every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A great flavor and chewiness. I loved the black iced tea. This bread shop has all the makings of the neighborhood coffee shop hang out. It was definitely full. The Jerusalem bagel with za'atar olive oil and lebnah was so simple yet tasty - the bagel was chewy and the nuttiness paired so well with the tangy cheese and rich oil. The whitefish toast was also fantastic - the bread was not the star in this dish, but the fish and avocado were rich and satisfying. Seating is first come first served, and orders came out quickly from the kitchen. It is really wonderful to have such a lively bakery here in Saint Paul. read more

Jerusalem bagels are HUGE, chewy & flavorful. However, there are honestly way too many sesame seeds that don't adhere to the bagel while you are prepping & eating it. Seeds were all over my clothes, the counter & my fingers. One day later & I'm still spying seeds I need to clean up. Now, the Porridge Bread is a solid winner. Toothsome crust & a very flavorful slice of sourdough bready goodness. Take this home for great sandwiches or toast. Person helping was very friendly & knowledgeable. The space is light & airy. This review is based on my purchase of a loaf of bread, not a dine-in experience. I walked in on a Friday morning to pick up a loaf of the Razava House bread. The store was clean and there was really nice light in the dining area. The employee who helped me was so friendly and knowledgeable about the different breads for sale. Fresh artisan bread is a frequent indulgence for me and I love a crisp crust with a soft inside. The Razava loaf was definitely more expensive than other options in the area, and came to over $13 with tax. I sliced into it right when I got home, and both my bread knife and my jaw struggled to handle the crust on this beast. I do love a chewy crust, but this one was a little intense. Maybe this one was a bit over done? I may go back to try the bagels or dine-in meals, but when it comes to a loaf of hearty artisan bread, I'll stick with the cheaper options that I can actually chew. This Razava loaf just can't compete with Brake Bread's Batard du Nord and Gateway loaves, or Kowalski's wild rice cranberry. read more

As a former NYer I'm always on the quest to find a good bagel so that I no longer have to have them shipped to me. I stopped here after a shipping trip and ordered the Jerusalem and the NY bagel. I got home and immediately decided to try the NY. Ok ....... first thing, not close to being a NY bagel. It's smaller, the outside is harder. Now, it wasn't bad as it was sourdough which I like, but not sure I'd order it again. Now on to the Jerusalem, much better. It was softer and a bit chewier and HUGE. The main event, the House bread, is amazing. The crust is really crisp and the bread is soft, moist and more than anything else, delicious. I've been excited to try this place for a while, since it first popped up as "coming soon" over the summer. I'm so glad it did. First, food. I got the mackerel sandwich and a couple of NY bagels. The sandwich was delicious: nice balance of flavors from the salty fish, mild ricotta, tart vegetables, and the underlying crusty heft of the sourdough. Looking forward to trying their other breads and sandwichs on future visits. I came in particularly excited for but also skeptical about the bagels, because as a Jewish New Yorker in diaspora, the Twin Cities are really the land God gave to Cain when it comes to bagels. They did not disappoint. They aren't quite like a modern NY bagel--they're denser and more sourdough in texture than what you'd get at a Bergen Bagel or Bagel Pub, probably kore like what a NY Bagel was 100 years ago--but they are extremely tasty. Service was quite friendly, and the interior is pleasant and minimalist. Strong recommend, a bit pricey but a great place to have a casual brunch. read more

My favorite item so far is the Jerusalem bagel, chewy and tasty served with delicious labneh and herbed olive oil. The eggplant pita sandwich was OK. I enjoyed the richness of the roasted tomatoes in the shakshuka and found the space to be comfortable and inviting.
