I had a mixed experience with Ray's Cycle. The quality of the work itself was fine once everything was completed, so no complaints there. However, the process to get there was extremely frustrating. My bike was in the shop for over two weeks for what should have been a simple tune-up. I kept being told the needed part was ordered or on the way, but it never seemed to arrive. Communication was poor--I had to repeatedly call just to get updates on the status. Ultimately, I ended up finding and purchasing the part myself. Once I brought it in, they had the bike ready within a day. That tells me the delay could have been avoided. It also seemed like the mechanic was frustrated due to not receiving parts, and only after significant delay did management step in to try to expedite things--something that could have been done much earlier. In short: the workmanship was good, but the turnaround time, communication, and parts management need serious improvement. If they can fix that side of their operation, the overall experience would be much better. read more

This shop is professional and honest. They did a basic repair on my bicycle that I've owned for over 20 years and weren't trying to rip me off. That is a rare thing when a company would rather help and save you on unnecessary repairs or tries to upsell you. In fact, I brought my husband's bicycle in and his was recommended to be replaced but only because of issues we knew already were an issue. These gentlemen are here to help. I grew up in Vacaville in the mid 60 s. I would pass by this shop around the seventies walking to my friends house across town. One day there was a mongoose bike in the window. I told my mom about it and she surprise me with it on her birthday. I think I was 11 years old. I have been purchasing stuff from the shop since it's a great family owned company. read more

This was probably the best shopping experience I had looking for my bike. The gentleman that helped, I forgot his name (sorry!), was extremely helpful. Middle aged man with glasses and the ponytail. Although, ultimately I didn't end up buying it from here, he was able to lead me in the right direction and find the one bike I was looking for: An all carbon Specialized Sirrus. He was able to tell me to try the first store that had it in stock (boo Ken's Bike in Davis). Sadly, they told me that it wasn't built and would take 5-6 days to build it, despite someone else telling me it was, so I drove there, but I'll leave that experience for another review. I ended up finding what I wanted at Mike's Bikes in Walnut Creek. So again, thank you, Ray's Cycle. I'll be coming to you for all my maintenance needs. read more

I went to Rays to look at e-Bikes. I found the selection limited and they did not offer to ket me test ride one. I was a little put off. I went into Ray's Cycle to purchase a bike and had an experience of a lifetime. I was privileged to meet the owner, Ray! He assessed my concerns and needs and directed me to a bike that was most suitable as well as within my price point (must say, I was in the store once before and had been prepped for the purchase by another employee; based on information provided). He/Ray has a significant wealth and breadth of knowledge which extends beyond selling bikes/making monetary transactions. Please go talk with him. Also, all other sales rep, and technicians were knowledgeable and helpful. The lovingkindness that I experienced wasn't limited to my experience with Ray; for which I'm thankful to: Steve x2 , Frank, Phil and the rest of the gang. They were professional and kind. They are well trained with extensive knowledge regarding biking/bikes. I highly recommend this store. P.S. What a great place to buy a bike! My husband and I had been looking for a bike for a while. We were stuck between a hybrid bike and an Electra Townie. We started off at the bike shops in Davis. We figured with the students and others there would be a huge selection at all price points. Well, we just couldn't nail down what was right. It was like the Goldilocks of bikes for both of us. Too soft, too expensive, didn't like the gears, hurt my shoulder, hurt his back. We live in Winters, so next up was Vacaville. I honestly almost did not try Ray's because of some of the reviews. So glad I decided the disgruntled people were bitter and went to the shop... They were gracious, knowledgeable, kind, patient, enthusiastic... did I mention patient? We tried about six bikes between us, some several times, and we just kept adjusting and riding, and questioning, and figuring it all out with their help. We picked out two Specialized hybrids and got a bunch of accessories. Their customer service and sales style was direct, fair, and appreciated. My husband and I are just two middle aged people off the street. We are not biking fanatics, we don't commute, we don't race, and we will probably only ride from home to the Buckhorn for the majority of our ride time. The prices were great. So, don't listen too much to the negative people. Ray's is great. We are so happy we found them. It was a fantastic experience. read more

I was a third into a 90 mile fundraiser ride when my spoke broke on the top of Cantelow. SAG brought me to Ray's (the nearest shop). When I walked in they told me there was a 4 week wait... I explained to them I was on a ride and the owner Phil took care of me right away. I was back on on my bike meeting up with my friends before the next big hill (Cardiac). A couple months ago I took 2 old bikes to Rays Cycle (wanting to keep money local) and was turned away. Yes, I know my husbands bikes are at least 15 years old but they were once worth something. The guy who met me at the door pretty much turned his nose up at them and was told I was better off buying new bikes. Well, not everyone can afford to sink a couple thousand into new bikes right now. I turned around and took my business to Dixon where I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with such friendliness and the owner got the bikes done in less than a week compared to almost a month that was quoted at Ray's. I dropped off my 25(+) GT Talera at Ray's Cycle, and I was told it would cost me $90. On Saturday I received a telephone call telling me it was going to be more, the gentleman told me I needed new levelers and shifters. Then he went on to say $200 and discount on parts, and I would get 10% off. I'm thinking 10% on $200 or it had already been adjusted. Nevertheless, when I arrived, I was told my bill was $268. I was pissed because I never was told full price. Phil heard the conversation, and instructed staff to adjust price more. Phil went on to say bring bike back for additional adjustments within 30 days. He also said, the bike is excellent condition. Well, Phil was right, even though I paid lot more, it was worthy it. read more

This Company probably was great at one time. Fast forward 2019.,,, poor customer service, coupled with a sales staff lead by a Pompous "Ego" centric sales person leads to a very poor customer experience. Bringing your expensive Road Bike in for regular maintenance, being told you need a $3900 upgrade because Rays doesn't work on your Bike...., WTH. Took my road bike to another local repair shop in Concord/Walnut Creek great customer service and they tuned my bike too perfection! Rays time is up! read more
