Ray's Catering catered my sister's wedding in Bodega 2 years ago and has done several events for the company I work for. Their food is consistantly amazing (especailly the Mixed Sonoma Feild Greens salad - I went around to the empty tables at my sister's wedding to get another plate. It was that good!) and the service can't be beat. My sister contacted Ray's a month before her wedding when her previous caterer cancelled on her. They had already chosen a very specific menu which included some Peruvian items Ray's had never made before. They told her not to worry and practiced and perfected the items before the big day. They were all delicious and my sister's Peruvian husband was thrilled. They saved a tray of appetizers specifically for the bride and groom, knowing they'd miss most of cocktail hour taking pitures. Not seconds after my sister stuffed her mouth full of the delicious appetizers did the DJ annouce the bride and groom. My sister looked at the waitress with a worried look, at which point the waitress just held out her hand and said, "Go for it. You've got to." So my sister spat the chewed up appetizers into her hand. Who does that?! If that's not service, I don't know what is!
So naturally, when it came to planning my big day, Ray's was the first caterer I contacted. I have now been in contact with Dan for a a couple of months and all I have to say is if every cater/vendor made things as straighforward and easy as Dan does, you would never need a wedding planner! He is amazing! He gets right back to me every time and answers every question I have regardless of how many times a day I email him (there have been days with quite a few). I wanted to make sure I was being thorough as I have a year and a half until my wedding and have contacted almost 40 different caterers, none of which compares to the great customer service I have already received from Dan. I have had caterers tell me they wouldn't give me a quote because my wedding was too far away and to contact them again in 9 months, others have told me they refuse to quote until I have a venue. I had one caterer I received three different prices from, regardless of the fact that I had asked for the same things every time, and others who just stopped replying entirely. Then there are the caterers that send one price for a rough quote, but when you choose the "cooking style" it suddenly doubles, or doesn't include rentals, etc. Then there are the ones with a $10,000 minimum and the others who refuse to email because they want a 20 minute phone call to go over your "vision." Really?
I sent Dan an email and he immediately remembered my sister's wedding and talked about how great the venue was (I couldn't even remember the name of it when I had emailed him). Within 3 emails I had a full, detailed proposal, all taxes and charges included. The price did not change when I changed my venue, or when I informed Dan that the new venue did not have a kitchen for them to work in. When I decided to change the appetizers, he worked with me, despite me choosing things that were not listed on the website and offered to suggest others to bring the cost down if I needed to. I could not be more impressed with this company or their staff.
Bottom line, the food is amazing, the service is unbeatable, the prices are very competative, and they make everything SO easy for you. What bride doesn't need that? Call Ray's. You won't be disappointed. read more
