We put all of our eggs in one basket, and booked Munther to cater both our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Our goals were to keep the costs low, while still having delicious and 100% gluten free food. Munther's quote was lower than any other caterer we talked to, but his food was incredible! We went to our tasting in February 2020 and planned to have a June 2020 wedding. We were surprised how delicious the food was at the tasting and happy we had selected Munther and his team. With the pandemic, we didn't end up getting to celebrate until March 2022 - in that time we forgot what the food tasted like, but sure enough it didn't disappoint! Munther's paella was impressive and delicious and the wedding entrees: salmon, steak, and veggie risotto were all incredible. Scrumptious Occasions catering prepares lunches for our company a few times a month. They take care of setting up and cleaning up, which I'm sure our company fully appreciates. The presentation of the food is nice, the choice of the food is generally safe. However there are a few things they can work on. I feel like the food tastes a bit worse than some of our other catering companies we use. Due to two specific problems, taste/type of food, and selection of food. The last 2 times we've had Scrumptious Catering do our lunches they've made white meat chicken dishes, white chicken dries out really easily. So by the time we eat it, its all dry and the texture turns powdery. I'd venture to say that having such thick cuts of white meat do bad things for the taste of the food. It just doesn't taste good no matter how well season it, such thick cuts of meat should be served with generous amounts of gravy, dipping sauce or hot sauce. This would not be such a problem if Scrumptious Catering provided more variety in the form of another entree and another choice of salad. Our other catering companies provide alternatives, 2 entrees, 2 types of salad, if one is bad I can get the second one. Additionally, today they brought in 30 bittersweet chocolate pastries. Our company campus has 300+ on-site employees, even if only 50 showed up for lunch, there were many people unhappy they did not get one of these pastries. These guys need to raise their game, and by a lot. It's hard to complain about free lunch, but even our other catering company which I rate fair (3 stars) outperforms Scrumptious Catering in food quantity, taste, and selection. ---- 3-28-08 I must raise Scrumptious Occasions Catering score 1 star for providing a fabulous fried chicken lunch about a month ago. ----- 5-30-08 I must deduct a star from Scrumptious once again, for probably the worst catered lunch I've ever had. The main entree was Tandoori Style Chicken Paella, which was talked about as a curry chicken dish. This was a phenomenal disappointment, there appeared to be absolutely no flavor to this dish, in the rice or in the chicken. When eating a chicken curry dish, one expects strong flavors and interesting spicy tastes. I felt like I was eating food flavored with yellow #5 food coloring rather than curry. Where did all the spices and flavoring go? I mean the chicken and rice looked yellowish, it looked like there were chopped onions in the rice.. Why was it so tasteless? Munther catered my wedding. We chose him based on the quality of the food he offered and the uniqueness of his menu. I found that many other caterers generally had very similar fare, but Munther distinguished himself with flashier dishes. Munther has a fairly casual manner when it comes business management, and he does require some reminding when it comes to attention to business-y details (I think he should hire a business manager). Also, the company's website is poorly maintained. These things were mildly annoying. Clearly, these are not the sort of details Munther truly prides himself on. That said, on the day of, the food *delivered* and everything ran smoothly. The food looked and tasted phenomenal. Our wedding was over a month ago and I still have people raving about the cheese table. We also had a whole pig (my personal favorite, and chief selling point) and a giant paella among many other delectable dishes. The service staff were all great. Ultimately, the mildly annoying business-y details are an afterthought when it comes to rating. For everything that really mattered to us, Munther nailed it. read more

One of the best catering companies in Marin! I recently hired S.O.C. for an event I hosted. It was a Ladies Night Out/Pretty Party at a local salon. 50 attendees; all hungry, sophisticated women & fashionistas. Although I was working with a very limited budget, Munther and his catering crew accepted the job. And not only did they step up to the plate, they hit it out of the park! The food was a total hit. They provided our group with a tasty assortment of cheeses, crab cakes, chicken skewers, and desserts. And everything was beautifully presented. Everything looked so good, you almost didn't want to eat. But we did anyway! Rave reviews all around! I would hire Scrumptious Occasions Catering again in a heartbeat. I'm surprised by the other low scoring reviews. We used Scrumptious Occasions at least 3 times at our winery in Napa and the experience was amazing. I'm not a big fan of Paella, but after trying their Seafood and Meat based Paella, I can honestly say it was the best Paella I have ever tried including the ones I tried in Spain! We typically tell the chef how many people are attending and what is our price range and let them suggest a menu. Every time we were impressed by the creative menu they came up with and it was always over the top! I highly recommend them. read more

We had the pleasure of working with Munther and his team in October 2018 and were amazed by his talent and all around passion for food. From the start, Chef Munther greets you as a friend and works with you in detail to make sure your wedding is perfect. We had a wonderful tasting at his restaurant in Redwood City and the food was superb. He created three custom drinks for the bar, added mini sliders, burrata salad, beef tenderloin, and a dessert station for our wedding. Everyone was raving over his famous cheese and charceuterie display! Munther worked with us on the pricing and even brought in a day of coordinator. My wedding was in April of 2018 and our guests are still talking about how delicious the food was and how artfully it was plated. There are not enough words to describe how grateful and thankful I am to MUNTHER and his team. Not only did Munther serve as my caterer, but he also assisted various rentals and even had his staff step in to help coordinate the day of which does not go unappreciated! This catering company is neither scrumptious nor worthy of serving food for any occasion, so their name is a complete misnomer. Let me explain: 1) I am not entirely sure how, but they manage to mess up salads. I mean, honestly, you get lettuce (of which there are MANY varieties), some other salad items (like tomatoes, herbs, cucumbers, beans, etc.) and you mix with a dressing (always with some sort of acid and probably oil). NOT DIFFICULT. And also very easy to execute. Last time, we had some concoction with lentils (which were not cooked through) and bits of frisee. It was odd and not good. It was as if they randomly had lentils (and no use for them), but barely any lettuce and the thought was " shit shit shit what do we do? Hey! We can make unique 'salad'!" Sorry, but you failed. 2) Chicken breast meat (as Eric L. has pointed out) dries out easily. Good as a healthy food option, but not a wise protein choice if food is going to be sitting on heating devices to keep warm. My boss's piece was still pink on the inside, indicating that it was not cooked through, yet it was still completely dry and tasteless. How ridiculous is it to risk food poisoning on dried out chicken?? 3) They always run out of something. You would think that by now, they would have a better understanding of the number of people there are in this company and how much food they should prepare. Apparently not. So, having said that, I do feel guilty for perpetuating the already bad reviews. I do. However, I believe that they are being paid for a service. Maybe this will somehow help them. read more

This past weekend I used Scrumptious Catering for a birthday party and it was fantastic. First of all they were so helpful in selecting a menu, preparing the food and providing serving dishes. They even provided the hot dishes in a "hot box" that we took to the even location and the food was the perfect temperature. We had an amazing smoked salmon platter, a wonderful seafood risotto, a delicious pene pasta with chicken, Cesar salad, veggie platter and rolls. All was excellent. Everyone raved about the food. I have worked with Scrumptious Occasions more than once. In fact I had them do my wedding. All of my guest raved about the deliciousness of the food, along with the professionalism of the entire staff. They showed up on time. The food was excellent very tasty, not run-of-the-mill options, but genuine flavor, and TONS of it! Oh...and the bar service was great. They took care of everything and cleaned up fast when it was over. They worked with us to move things around when last minute issues came up, and they were extremely professional.
