What can I say about RSVP? We could not have pulled off our wedding without them. The food was most important to us at our reception, and we put it in the right hands. Chef Jacqueline and her coordinator Peg were so great that we almost (almost!) want to get married again just so that we can have another opportunity to work with them. We mostly worked with Peg day-of, and she did a great job making everything run smoothly. She communicated with us frequently and was easy to find when we had questions. We worked with Jacqueline a lot in the months leading up the the big day. She was friendly and informative, was generous with offers to help, responded to emails quickly, and was always able to calm my anxiety when I started to act a little crazy. And, most importantly, her food is INCREDIBLE. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Jacqueline shares our interest in local seasonal organic food, and our menu reflected that. She was also receptive to our special requests (e.g. including an heirloom tomato station, excluding goat cheese) and adjusted accordingly. As someone who has been underwhelmed by most wedding food, I was just so delighted with the meal that was served and so were all of our guests! Everyone says that, but it was true! They usually reply to email within a few hours, and never took longer than 24 hours. Effective and clear communication and fast replies. This was the only vendor that I did not once have to follow up with a reminder email. On top of that, they are both very knowledgeable and made many helpful suggestions that made our planning a bit easier, including helping us organize some rentals we needed for the venue (tree decorations, and an arbor). When communication switched over to our month of coordinator, everything continued seamlessly. Reaction: Our guests really loved the food. I know that every review says that, but I would consider myself a foodie, and many of our guests fit that description as well. We really had a lot of people asking us about the catering, how we found them, etc. Friends and family that love fine dining were sincerely impressed, people especially loved the short rib and the cauliflower dish. I know other reviews say something to this effect, but those folks must not love food. I tasted some of those caterers with glowing reviews, and they were mediocre to pretty terrible. Summary: This is the only caterer that is equivalent to a fine dining restaurant. Chef Jacqueline cares about her food, uses quality ingredients, and really lives up to the title of Chef. She (and her team) are very effective communicators, and ran our event without a hitch. My wife and I feel so happy that we found RSVP, and didn't have to eat cafeteria food at our wedding (no joke). We recently had our wedding at outdoor art club. RSVP is one of the approved caterers for this venue. This is a long post, but the summary is: The food was amazing (and I'm very very very picky), they are extremely organized and get back to you immediately, service was perfect without any hiccups. I would use them again in a heartbeat, amazing in all aspects. I had to reset my yelp password to leave this review (and the hassle was totally worth it). The process: OAC has a list of around 20 approved caterers. I started by reading through all the yelp reviews (yes all of them, and yes every review). Did I mention food is very important to me, this was one of my few wedding tasks, but my wife knows how anal I am about food so she trusted me to go crazy in depth on this (which I did). Based on the reviews, and photos of their of their food I narrowed down the list to 11 potential companies. 3 failed to reply to my email, so I crossed them off the list. This left me with 8 options. I called each one to discuss what I envisioned for the meal and requested a quote from each. The quotes ranged from $97/pp - $135/pp, with two outliers around $250+ (ruled these out, as they blew up our budget), and 1 company that failed to issue a quote. I was down to 5 at this point. I decided to have tastings at all 5 of the contenders. Tastings: The cheapest caterer was pretty much just that, it felt like cafeteria food. My wife said my face looked deeply upset during the entire tasting. She was right, it felt insane that someone would charge $97pp for food that reminded me of my college cafeteria (gross). I walked through the kitchen to their bathroom, smart and final cans of sauce were everywhere, this was not a chef, this was a cafeteria cook. The next two were slightly better than a cafeteria, so approximately what you'd get at a so-so restaurant. These two were priced around $125-ish. Again, I was left feeling bad about spending so much money on such a sad meal. The next caterer was solid, but not exceptional. If I had been forced to select someone at this point, it would have been them, but again, not really making me feel good about the $135pp price tag. I could have a meal at chez panisse, gary danko, or nearly any great SF restaurant with this price tag, and the food here was not at that level. And finally, RSVP. Chef Jacqueline is the real deal. This was fine dining masquerading as catering. Not only was everything delicious and perfectly cooked, it was also beautiful. We wanted a tuna tartare (I know, so basic), she brought it out on a double thick fried wonton chip, with a red and green cabbage slaw, with perfectly cubed sashimi quality fresh fish (this was NOT the case with the other caterers). The double thick chip was great to keep it all crispy and the slaw added great color and presentation. Her attention to detail is real, and her love of cooking shines through in little thought out details like this. We also requested an asian short rib (like kalbi, but in an american short rib cut, so not cross cut ribs), she killed this dish, so delicious, perfectly braised, and excellent flavor. My wife thought it was a little sweet, so Chef made this slightly less sweet for our wedding (exactly as requested, amazing). She had two salad options, and we loved both of them. We ended up going with a butter lettuce salad with shaved parmesan, apples, and toasted pecans. We requested a potato gratin, chef recommended leek and gruyere, which was awesome. This was a really great dish, perfectly sliced potato (uniform thin slices, again attention to detail everywhere in her cooking) cooked through with just the right amount of bubbling cheesy char on top. We had family style service and decided to have an alternate entree of fish. Chef recommended a slow roasted atlantic salmon with herb crust and cucumber-ginger-lime relish. I was a little concerned as it's easy to overcook fish, but again, she nailed this on the day of -- perfectly cooked. Since we didn't taste this at the first tasting she organized a second tasting for this dish. We had to hold off on the tasting as she was waiting for salmon season, again, the mark of someone who cares about their cooking and will only accept the best! My mother in law is a vegetarian so we asked chef to come up with something tasty for her. She dreamt up an oven-roasted curried cauliflower, yams, beluga lentils, arugula, cilantro dish. This was so good and inventive, really a killer dish. We were originally going to have roasted summer vegetables for our meat eaters, but decided on this instead, it was that good. And again, just a beautiful plating, brightly curried and roasted cauliflower with yams, fresh greens on top and beluga lentils mixed in with pickled red onion. Jacqueline and her team catered our wedding this summer at the The Outdoor Art Club and wow, so wonderful working with her! From the rentals planning, to the onsite meetings, to being prepared for all the little details we felt confident and at ease with her. She has just the kindest, most serene demeanor and her food is outstandingly delicious. She completely won us over the day of the tasting with her slow cooked salmon. Astonishing! Jacqueline.was a miracle last week. A very dear friend died unexpectedly and under very extreme circumstances. We worked with the family and made a celebration of life for him in our garden. However, the rains came, we rented a nearby gorgeous venue that was indoors. Jacqueline catered the affair, bringing in her incredible staff with the most delicious (DELICIOUS!!) healthy food with complete attention to the needs of the 100+ guests and the rain. My partner and I can't wait to have more parties because we trust Jacqueline and celebrate what she brings to her work! Wow! Best and most innovative caterer we have ever had. J's food is so amazing that our guests from LA who are self-pronounced foodies were blown away by the quality and creativity and presentation of the dinner at our daughter's wedding! We attended a wedding in Mill Valley catered by RSVP, so I'm writing this review as a guest. We were completely wowed. From the friendly & professional service to the amazing food. Everything was just perfect! All the appetizers were amazing - especially the salmon with lime salad on top. The groom was from WI, so there was also a sausage and cheese cracker appetizer - the cracker was made by the caterers, I'm sure. It was SO yummy I wanted to get the recipe. The meal itself was flawless. Served family style - everything came out at about the same time for the whole room. No one was waiting for 20 minutes while everyone else was served. The meat and fish were moist and warm, and the veggies were crisp and perfectly cooked. RSVP is a well oiled machine!! We had to leave early, so sadly we were going to miss dessert, but a caterer saw us leaving and said "wait here just a minute". She went inside and wrapped up some homemade cookies for us to take with us so we wouldn't miss the whole dessert. And they were the BEST cookies ever! Our kids were thrilled! read more
