It sure beats those pre made bowls from the grocery store. And a great alternative to fast food. They really pack the fruit in the cups and bowls. You get your money's worth. I went there during the peak time so I had a bit of a wait. But they have jams playing throughout the shop while you wait. The owner was awesome. She was very, humble, helpful, and friendly. She told me about the shops future plans, which included smoothies (probably October) and a veggie bar. I highly recommend getting here early because they do not have an infinite supply of daily fresh fruit and have been known to run out of some of the popular fruits before closing time. You really need to check this place out. And I am not seeing if you happen to pass by it. This is a shop that you can make a special trip for. It's a market, so you can buy produce and you can also create your own fruit cups and fruit bowls, they have smoothies and smoothie bowls that you can top with fruit as well. I got two tomatoes and cherry tomatoes for 10 bucks almost. Ridiculous they have now switched over to being all kinds of canned or bottled products and also flowers so I guess that's where their budget goes. As I was looking around every time, I walked by the counter, one of the cashiers was laying across the counter. Interesting. I think the flowers look really good, but the price seemed very high. Also not sure if I would ever consider this a farmers market because frequently all the produce has barcodes on them.

I had the chance to accompany a friend to Spencer Farm for a relatively brief visit. While it was pretty brief, I was impressed. Spencer Farm was started by, you guessed it, the Spencers - Lori and Kyle. It started out as Spencer's U-Pick in 1982. They started out with strawberries. By 1986, they moved to a new farm on Cherry Tree Road. They expanded to include red raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, and chrysanthemums. They've added pumpkins, asparagus, grapes, Christmas trees, and their son founded a winery that now also sits on the farm grounds. Spencer's now does pre-picked, you-pick, and wholesale fruit. In 2008, they further expanded the farm with a variety of Indiana products including ice cream, fudge, pies, jams, jellies, etc. As you can tell, I immediately wanted to see their sunflower field. I love, love, love sunflowers. One of the reasons I'm not particularly a farm dude is because farms are seldom very accessible. While Spencer's isn't perfect, there's a STRONG effort here to be accessible. I was honestly surprised and impressed. You could send me to the gift shop, and I could be a very happy camper. I will note that they have a strong photography policy. It's on their website, but if you're taking professional equipment I'd read the policies first as there are requirements. There's an awful lot to love here. The people are friendly. The farm is well laid out and surprisingly accessible (the fields obviously have some issues - they're fields). There's accessible parking close to the entrance. This would be a great place for families. Children should definitely enjoy it. There's a strong element of faith here, and that's radiated in the beauty of the surroundings and the service.

An entrance and separate exit had been set up. The hanging baskets were affordable and gorgeous but I had already purchased my baskets. The annuals and perennials selection was limited but healthy and a nice variety. Once I went inside the stand I found prebagged greenbeans, tomatoes and new potatoes I had to take home with me. They were fresh and made for a nice summer meal. If you're in the area stop by and checkout the selection. It's a short drive from Plainfield on US 40.

Once I paid they then told me I would have to have the last piece of chicken under the heater and only 3 fresh pieces. It was 3pm so the chicken in the case was sparse and looked dried out. (That is why I ordered them fresh!) They ended up putting one piece of the dried out thighs in my box and put the fresh ones on top. She was rude when I asked about it and said "I've been cooking chicken all day." I'm sorry but if I ordered fresh, I expect fresh.
