A beautiful morning for some great company and delicious local food!
Alesha M.

Jason and Casey run a lovely urban garden near north side in Herron-Morton area. They involve the local kids and are truly building a better community. Casey is a pastry chef who does delicious fresh baked bread and other goodies. They have local produce and create opportunities for the community to grow too! We recently stumbled upon an opportunity to do a Brunch event, our expectations may have been high, but they surpassed every one. It really shows you want good local produce can do! A beautiful morning for some great company and delicious local food!

There's a sign in the salad bar area that tells customers a) The Famous Tomato has the freshest and…read morecleanest salad bar in Indy, and b) please don't touch the salad bar, and also wait behind this line so someone can help you create your salad. I guess this is how they maintain a salad bar that's so fresh and so clean. (No Outkast.) You animals used your grubby, bare hands one too many times to reach for the croutons, and now look what you did. Now we have to talk to someone if we want a salad, and point at what we want like a child. It's all your fault! Actually, it's probably for the best because the salad bar did look delectable and immaculate. So many fresh a clean vegetables! They also have an area with soup and chili, which the staff will also help you with. There are some tables in the salad bar area, so you can sit and eat your food inside the shop. Mostly, though, The Famous Tomato is a specialty food store. Lots of old fashioned candy, hot sauce and barbecue sauce, novelty sodas, so many different flavors of Moon Pies, and random things like salted peanuts in the shell. It's also a little farmers market, so you'll find lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Famous Tomato feels like a hidden gem, even though it's right there in plain sight in Speedway. For some reason, I would pass by it and I thought it was a Fazoli's? It's most certainly not, though. When you step inside, you'll see that this is a special place, with lots of special and local foods.

One here for lunch with my girlfriend the inside of the store is very unique, with lots of sauces,…read moresodas, and candies. I got the salad buffet, and essentially had a Caesar salad salad. The price was incredibly cheap and the salad quality was very respectable. The person taking my order was very nice I would go back for a cheap and easy meal.

Best winters farmers market in Indy!!…read more Small amount of parking in the main lot with tons of parking across the street in the gravel lot. The place stays pretty busy from open to close. Most weeks all the vendors are there but sometimes it can be slow. Usually there are 4-6 booths with greens and veggies, 2 apple orchards, 1-2 Kombucha vendors, 2-3 bakeries, and an assortment of others from essential oils, pickling snacks, mustard, salt dressing, honey and coffee. All local businesses and all wonderful people. There is usually live music playing, prepared food vendors and a few tables to sit at. Note - You can't bring your pets to this one since it is inside and the isles can get crowded so if you have small children it is best to carry them or have them in a stroller.

Don't shoot the messenger but I'm really missing the natural light and energy of the old location…read more(City Market). I understand the parking and space is much easier/plentiful here but the partnership with City Market seemed like such a smart and natural fit. Plus, I loved strolling from one section of the market to the next to gather breakfast and eats for the week. The new location offers many of the vendors you've seen in the past - Duos, Bee Coffee, Amelia's, Wildflower Honey and so on. Parking is free and located across the street and you won't have a hard time finding a spot. My biggest hang up at this location is the dark/warehouse feel that seems to be a big contrast to the light and flow found at City Market.
