They have more than tomatoes, they've got other fresh produce, and fresh food - a full kitchen, actually. Serving up soups and sandwiches and walls and walls of candy if you have a sweet tooth. The area in the back for food was actually quite busy (it was lunch time on a Saturday), so I decided on just getting some sauces and fresh produce for home. I literally spent a good half hour going through every nook and cranny of this place. It truly transported me to another decade. Thankfully, I live pretty close. It's safe to say I'll be going back more often!

I guess this is how they maintain a salad bar that's so fresh and so clean. (No Outkast.) You animals used your grubby, bare hands one too many times to reach for the croutons, and now look what you did. Now we have to talk to someone if we want a salad, and point at what we want like a child. It's all your fault! Actually, it's probably for the best because the salad bar did look delectable and immaculate. So many fresh a clean vegetables! They also have an area with soup and chili, which the staff will also help you with. There are some tables in the salad bar area, so you can sit and eat your food inside the shop. Mostly, though, The Famous Tomato is a specialty food store. Lots of old fashioned candy, hot sauce and barbecue sauce, novelty sodas, so many different flavors of Moon Pies, and random things like salted peanuts in the shell. It's also a little farmers market, so you'll find lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Famous Tomato feels like a hidden gem, even though it's right there in plain sight in Speedway. For some reason, I would pass by it and I thought it was a Fazoli's? It's most certainly not, though. When you step inside, you'll see that this is a special place, with lots of special and local foods.

I got two tomatoes and cherry tomatoes for 10 bucks almost. Ridiculous they have now switched over to being all kinds of canned or bottled products and also flowers so I guess that's where their budget goes. As I was looking around every time, I walked by the counter, one of the cashiers was laying across the counter. Interesting. I think the flowers look really good, but the price seemed very high. Also not sure if I would ever consider this a farmers market because frequently all the produce has barcodes on them.

So when selecting vegetables and fruits, you have to look closely or try to move the product around inside the bags to see if they are ripe or spoiled. But they do have a nice selection of salsa.

The staff is wonderful and cares a lot about the guests happiness. The only thing I did NOT care for is for the parents being required to pay to join the fun festival area. Dollie's Farm, Metta Gardens, Circle City Kombucha, Vietnamese Egg Rolls, Giuseppes's Italian Food, Hubbard & Craven's, Leviathan Bakehouse, Nicey Frozen Treats, and Growing Places Indy are just a few of the vendors. It's a great location and lots of businesses are able to sell their local goods which is great for them! They sell market totes, frisbees, and handed out duck food to give to the ducks on the canal at the White River State Park booth. The market is held the first and third Sunday between May and June. This family owned orchard is a you pick spot (or you buy already picked) and is a fun day outing. There is plenty of parking and they have ample picnic tables and patio seating. There is a fun play area for kids and they are rather casual about things so kids can enjoy the orchard as well. On weekends they have music in the fall so we got to enjoy some Bluegrass, local wine and treats plus apple cider and apples for home. Their slushiest are amazing but all of their treats are yummy, and who can resist a pumpkin or caramel apple? Definitely worth a visit!
