My review is long overdue! I've been going to Crossfit Pop for almost two years now and I…read moreabsolutely love it! I never thought about doing crossfit before. I was so bored at Blink Fitness and was looking for something more structured. I also wanted a gym where I can be given something different do to everyday. Not only am I happy here I actually feel more confident. I'm so much stronger than I was when attending the regular gym. The coaches are the best. It is like a family environment. They are friendly and funny. They are patient with you too. Not everything is advanced. They make sure to provide a scaled option for individuals who are not up there yet. I would recommend this gym to anyone at any level. It is definitely worth the monthly payments.

Where do I begin? First and foremost I've never been one to review anything in my life. As a matter…read moreof fact this might be my first and last review! If something sucked I would just never go back or if I loved it I would just rave about it, but this is totally different! It's life changing so I just had to! I'm sorry for the length but you have to read this until the end! Weight has always been a sensitive topic for me! I've never been that "skinny girl" even though I've played sports and even lifted weights in high school. But last year was it for me. I turned 34 and hit my ultimate high of 203lbs standing at a mere 4'11" inches tall. Needless to say I looked like a meatball. I was borderline liver cirrhosis and I had a ton of other issues that are no longer. I was depressed and knew I had to do something! Slowly but surely I tried and lost a bit of weight but plateaued immediately and became discouraged! One day as I was getting the inspection of my car done at Jerry and Sons on Bronxdale I decided to walk around the block for "cardio" and saw my cousin who I hadn't seen in years working out. I said hi and realized she looked so different. Her body was changing. All of a sudden Thomas steps out and introduces himself! He told me to come to the gym and try it out and he guaranteed that I wouldn't regret it and boy I have to say and I'll put it in bold letter just for him "THOMAS M. YOU WERE RIGHT!" Every since my journey at Untamed Studio began on July 4th, of this year I've laughed, I've cried, and have all types of emotions! But you Thomas M. are an absolute God sent, a blessing, and a life changer!!!! I cannot begin to explain the appreciation and gratitude I have for you, YOU SIR HAVE changed my life! It's amazing because through the much hated burpees, the kettle bell swings, and pull-ups you have been much more than a personal trainer, you've been a motivator, and one of the key elements to my accomplishments! I will forever be indebted to you! I plan to keep you around forever or as long as you can tolerate me! Thomas M. my life will never be the same because of you! Thank you for being selfless, following your dreams, and thank you for caring as much as you do! To the others who have been part of my journey at Untamed Studio, John G. (Co-founder) and Ardi N., I also want to thank you for being such amazing people! I urge anyone who is sick and tired of living a poor quality of life to take a step into the Untamed Studio, I guarantee you your life will never be the same!

I began training at Untamed Studio on July 4th at my friends urging. To say that I was reluctant…read more(and scared) would be an understatement. However, I found myself there at 8am, looking in the mirror and wondering how I had gotten there. How had I let my body take over control to the point where I no longer recognized the person looking back at me? The hard work began that very day and I have not looked back since.   While I have encountered a few of the trainers over the past two months, this review is specifically for our personal trainer, Thomas M. (also co-founder and owner of the Studio). He has been a source of strength for me and I will forever be grateful to him for his tough love in the gym but also for his words of encouragement on days that I felt that I could no longer move forward. He constantly stays by our side during our workouts, fixes our form and makes sure we are doing the exercises correctly to limit the chance of injury.   The gym has a plethora of classes and trainers to satisfy anyone no matter what your physical goal. There are personal training opportunities as well as group bootcamp classes. Alongside Thomas, John G. is the other co-founder and owner of the Studio. He is an added layer of support and serves as very needed comedic relief. Another trainer we were introduced to was Ardi N. who covered one of Thomas' sessions. He didn't skip a beat and trained us as if we were his own, regular clients. The degree of care behind keeping a client on schedule speaks to the professionalism and commitment of the Untamed team. Your body and your mind will be pushed to places it has never been before. There are days when you feel damn proud of yourself and there are days when you want to drop your equipment and walk out. However, the one consistent thing is the unwavering support from the trainers at this gym.  It's remarkable what a little squeeze of the shoulder and a simple, "come on, you got this" will do for you.   If you are genuinely ready to change your life, leave your ego at the door and put in hard work, sweat and the occasional tears, this is the place for you. Thank you Untamed Studio and specifically Thomas M. for helping me find the strength I never knew I had and quite simply, for changing my life mentally and physically.

I LOVE this place! Professional decor, personalized training (individual and group), great advice…read moreand direction from the trainers, diverse clientele, no membership fee and the prices are very fair....plus, the fitness staff is super accommodating to anyone's schedule. They can meet you as early as 5am or as late as....whenever! Perfect spot for anyone wanting to improve their physique, recover from injuries or just plain improve your overall health ;) The gym is actually located in a medical office building within walking distance from the Metro North Station, so I actually took the train there after work (probably a 3 minute walk), but there is also a parking lot and plenty of metered parking (all free after 7pm) nearby. They give a free fitness assessment and one free training session just to give you an idea of their expertise :) Plus, there is a diner upstairs in the building, so you could probably grab a bite to eat after the workout. I love this place and would recommend their trainers to anyone! I'd strongly recommend my personal trainer there, Joseph Hunt, his knowledge on strength training and weight loss is awesome! Hunt helped me to tone up the extra 10 pounds I had gained over the summer and also corrected some painful back issues I had....mostly due to laziness and inactivity, lol. But he also focuses on medical exercise and Bootcamp training (small group exercise) for all ages and body types. Perfect for anyone who wants to be healthier for a reasonable price in a comfortable atmosphere....I'll be back to sign up for the Bootcamp training next!

You will always feel that you are part of a team and the motivation is constantly there to go longer, and harder despite what type of day you are having. The pros: Plenty of parking, small atmosphere, never have to worry about overcrowding, it is very clean so you don't have to worry about gross sweaty gym equipment, everyone is friendly, and you never have to feel subconscious about the way you look. Every time you workout you will get something different, and each workout will be an intense experience, leaving little room for boredom. The cons: Limited windows, so you may get tired of staring at walls while you workout and the locker room only has one available shower.

Do you know how many people travel out of their way to come to this gym? That right there just proves that not all crossfit boxes are created equal. The workouts are challenging and kick my butt and the people that I work out with have become some of my really great friends. To top this all off how many other gyms have mobility built into their programming. Fair warning: Crossfit is a commitment (you need time and a consistent showing to succeed)...The programming is well thought out and scheduled and requires you to show up regularly. You get out what you put in. One last thing: it's frustrating to see the post from Colette H especially because she has knocked the gym without ever stepping foot inside or trying one of our classes. Without knowing any context I can guarantee the owners were not rude. Unfortunately, programs fill up and are first come first serve and I'm sure they were just suggesting that you consider joining the next program. I noticed that irrelevant of anything your post was discussing you name dropped your 17 marathons and 2 ironmans (thanks for letting us know!) and best of luck with those!

Chris, my trainer, is extremely personable, focused, and on top of all our objectives. I've always thought the best customer service experience is one where the client feels like they're the only client in the universe, and that the party providing the service is devoted to the singular task of addressing the client's needs. Obviously, a bit of a fantasy given a business with multiple clients, but some businesses pull it off: they create an environment where you feel like you're truly cared for, as if you're the only client. Evolve Athletic Club has accomplished this with me. The staff here are extremely competent, supportive, attentive to detail, and prioritized all my personal objectives. Every question has a good answer and every workout is challenging. A lot of care is put into recovery and nutrition. The space is very clean and organized. The staff has done a great job to build amazing rapport and trust. On a side note, you know the expression, "zero fucks given"? It's this attitude where a person literally does not care about a single thing. Plants need watering? No. Need to pay rent? Nah. Clothes getting dirty and need washing? Whatever. Failing school? Ite. Evolve is the opposite of this. In fact, I think they're the opposite of this plus more. Not only do they do everything you think that's required of them, they also do stuff that you don't consider. They take the initiative to say: "hey, this is cool and could be beneficial to you. Why don't you try it?" But, but...you're reviewing a business. Aren't corporate entities "it's" and not "they's"? Sure. However, I stopped thinking of Evolve as a corporate entity as soon as I started working out there. All the staff members look organically happy and engaged, and everyone has a great sense of humor. It genuinely feels like the people here are part of a family. Perhaps I'm just happy that I'm in much better shape. But, at the end of the day, results are results. Not only did I get results, I got them with a process that was fun and engaging. I'm more encouraged than ever to work out and be healthy.

The…read morecoaches, the people, and the atmosphere make it so much more than just a gym you go to before or after work. It's a place you look forward to returning to every time you leave. After feeling like I had reached the limit of what I could achieve on my own at a chain gym, I joined Crossfit516 after doing research into CF. After training at CrossFit 516 for the past 12 months, I'm confident it was the right decision. Many members have been here for over a decade, and it's not uncommon to meet people who have left other CrossFit locations to train here. One of the best parts for newcomers is the intro program, which is perfect for easing into the workouts. The coaches are experts and genuinely care about your progress. The workouts are intense but scalable, making them accessible to all fitness levels. I joined at 39, and there are members younger and older, so neither your age nor current fitness level should hold you back from checking out CrossFit516. One-on-one coaching is available, and training with Coach Ellen has been one of the best decisions I've made (and I've made a lot of great decisions). Initially, I planned to do a few sessions to learn more about Olympic lifting, avoid bad habits, and perform better in class, but I'm going into week 24 and it's far exceeded the goals and expectations I initially set. It's rare to get more out of something than you hope for, but that has defined my experience here. There's always something new to learn in CrossFit, and it's also a lot of fun. Whether you're in class next to someone training for the Open or "just" staying in shape, everyone is welcoming. If you're looking for a place to redefine your limits, achieve your fitness goals, and be part of an amazing community, CrossFit 516 won't let you down. The longevity of Crossfit516 speaks for itself. The coaches are incredible, and their love of CF makes training here nothing but a great experience.

Also, since this is my first Crossfit gym I like it the most. The trainer/owners Tyler and Logan are excellent. They are knowledgeable, attentive and able to meet the demands of their clients. Now, don't get me wrong, they won't let you quit because you want to and they don't let you skip out on any of the fundamental movements. The beauty of Crossfit is that you engage in every activity. Gymnastics, Bodyweight, Olympic lifts, Cardio, Flexibility are all a part of it. The work out of the day is constantly varied, so you rarely do the same workout. The new trainer Sara is excellent, she is very determined and she commands the class well. So please, even though you hear loud weights banging and atlas stones crashes this is not a male centric gym. There are many women who are bored of the usual gyms who come to Crossfit and see results. No matter what shape you are in, this is a great place to start your fitness career. The environment is very motivating and no one lets you quit. This is common amongst many Crossfit gyms and I have been to seven different gyms now. But what stands out about Crossfit 516 is that we have really developed a family here. Everyone is your friend from the moment you come and in and the people. Also Tyler and Logan command a vision of expanding their space and giving everyone the best experience possible. They plan the workouts weeks in advance and they make sure that your entire hour is worth what you paid for it.
