What a ride... Best money I ever spent. Hands down. Please read the rest of my detailed review.... This is my second review on Yelp. And I felt compelled to share this hidden gem with the Yelp community. Perched above the venerable Iron Tomato of all places... a sheer Mecca of fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella and you name it! I had a loaded sub in my left hand when I found the Phatburn flyer in the Iron Tomato. 45 days later, on June 23rd, I signed up. I was at wits end and stuck- it was time to try something new. The coaching, counseling and encouragement from this amazing team delivered, in spades, beyond my wildest expectations. These men and women did exactly what they promised. They trained me, they fed me, they encouraged me. Gyms don't work. Learning how to feed your body precisely what it needs while experts adjust your food based on body composition readings and your actual workout regimen? Then folding in group classes with burpees, plank, push-ups and tons of core focused high intensity interval, agility, weight and cardio training? My New York Sports membership was a joke. This isn't a gym. It's a journey. The results? Pure transformation - shocked relatives, friends and coworkers. 3 lbs and 1 pull-up away from a seemingly absurd goal I set in July. 4 weeks. 15lbs. And that's with two fairly major cheats along the way. 46lbs since September. 61Lbs since July. I wasn't hungry and ate tons of nutritious foods - but did so thoughtfully. I kept nearly all my lean muscle mass. Endless wardrobe items to charity because I will never ever need them again. Pictures I don't recognize. Women smiling at me on the street. In 2014 I started grad-school and a new demanding job. While trying to joggle school, work, and life I let go of focusing on my physical state and I ended up gaining over 30 lbs in a matter of 3 years. It was a very depressing time for me because I was no longer comfortable with myself. I tried working out on my own but I was not able to shed the extra weight. Although, the universe turned it's focus on me and I came across a PhatBurn ad on Facebook. I sent them an email and the next day I received a call from Shawn, who is one of the co-founders. After meeting up with Shawn, I signed up for the 28 day challenge and at the end of the challenge I lost a total of 8 lbs and 2.7% body fat! To say I was happy with the results would be an understatement. I was thrilled, motivated, encouraged and ready to regain by body, self-esteem and my smile. I started my journey at Phatburn on February 17, 2017 - fast forward to June 2017 and I have lost a total of 19 lbs and 6.6 % body fat. I joined PhatBurn 2 years ago, I was over weight, depressed and unmotivated!! I was so nervous for my first class, I met Paul, Andrew, Mario and Shawn, and they couldn't have been nicer !! Even though I was still nervous, they made me feel much more comfortable! Andrew was my trainer, he was so fun and professional, motivating and supportive. He walks around the class correcting form, cheering you on, supporting you and believing in you, pushing you beyond your comfort levels. They really do support you in every aspect, fitness, nutrition, even emotionally!! After 4 months I lost 40lbs!! I had never felt better about my self, in every aspect. 2 years later I am still here! after a year I tried a "gym", and it just wasn't the same. PhatBurn is a small group setting, the people in your class are just as awesome as the PhatBurn team, we become a mini family! Everyone is there for the same reason, and everyone truly motivates and supports each other! I can't say enough about finding this gem. I am almost a month into my weight loss journey and after only two weeks was already down 8lbs. I still have a long way to go and my experience so far has been so great, I have committed to a year membership! I'll tell you why. I've tried it all - Isagenix, Weight Watchers, Medifast, among others - and can honestly say from Day 1 when Paul walked me through the program and asked me to set my fitness/health goals to that first call with Jessica, an amazing nutritionist who is available pretty much 24/7, and my first class with my trainer (Andrew is my favorite! But Shawn is awesome too!), I never felt judged. For someone who has been feeling unhealthy and is extremely overweight - the support from not only the staff, but from other members of the Phamily in class can't be stressed enough. Phatburn is an awesome fitness center. The environment and people have a great team for any goal you want to strive for. I initially joined to enhance my performance for job related fitness exams. When I joined January 5th, 2015 I was 4 lbs of fat over weight and at 19.7% body fat. It is 6 months later now and I have not only cut over 20 lbs of fat and dropped to 10% body fat but I feel alive! I also can now deadlift a max of 315 lbs and back squat a max of 295 lbs. My strength increases every week. If you do join, join with an 11 out of 10 commitment level. Everyone motivates each other every day. The movements in each workout are safe and extremely effective. They also can be modified for anyone with a physical need to modify, which I have seen. Looking back at January, when I joined, I never would have thought I would be where I am at today. I thought you and mario were incredible, making this experience a knowledgeable one and at the same time, for lack of a better word, brainless for those involved in the program. The time and effort you two have put into it showed me that you believe in the product and gave me even more of an incentive to do my best and listen to what you were telling us. For the 60 days, not once did I ever think about what I was going to eat and if it were something I should be ingesting, nor did I have to worry about what exercises needed to be done. I thought Shawn finally found his calling and was born to be a trainer and motivator. He knew how to handle each individual in terms of knowing our body and pushing us to our maximum capability. Having Susan was amazing, by far the most intelligent person I have meant when it comes to the human body. Joining PhatBurn was one of the best things I have done for myself in a long time! I never looked forward to working out, ever, but after getting involved in this program, I was hooked, and it got to the point where I would feel bad if I missed a night. Andrew taught all of my classes, and he was incredible! He was attentive and motivating, and I truly appreciated all of the attention in regards to him correcting bad form or working with an injury. For anyone that is considering the program, and is not doing the food aspect, I would highly recommend Susan! Her knowledge is overwhelming, and she taught me how to eat based on what works for MY body. The body comps were also very helpful as they were concrete evidence of progression. I joined PhatBurn about a month ago and I can honestly say it was the best decision I could have made. I remember walking into my first class a nervous wreck and walking out of there saying wow I did it. Shawn, my trainer was right there encouraging me to not to give up along with fellow members. I started with the 21 day kick start program and was only suppose to do 3 times a week, but I was loving it so much that I signed up for the unlimited membership I didn't want to miss a day. I have been to other gyms but they were just gyms. This is a full fitness center where you have access to a certified nutritionist and trainers who are just an email or text message away. Since I started at PhatBurn I am down 9 lbs and I can't wait to see where I am in the upcoming months. How many times have you said to yourself that you were fat and you need to do something about it, well here is the place to join Phatburn! I have been going to the fitness center for 4 weeks now and love it. The staff is very welcoming and the trainers go above and beyond, challenging and push you to your limits. They are always on the floor with you to make sure that you are doing everything correctly so you don't injure yourself. The workout programs are changed every 2 weeks so you don't get bored and the big plus is that they have a nutritionalist that works with you through the program to make sure that you are eating correctly. So now that you are saying to yourself that you don't have time to cook well that solution is solved for an extra fee they have a chef that who will even prepare meals for you. I first heard about PhatBurn last year (2016) and needed a kick in the rear in terms of fitness. I really enjoyed their trainer (forgot her name), who made me WORK! Everything hurt (mildly) the next day, but in an I-accomplished-something-good kind of way. The venue was clean and modern, the music made me shake my behind, and the staff were very friendly and courteous. *Full disclosure: I worked on a few writing projects for the company last year, and got to meet the owner (smart, passionate, kind guy), and like most of my professional projects, I chose PhatBurn because it was a local company with a positive mission... last year they offered prepared meals which were very convenient (I enjoy cooking my own food, but for those who don't have the time or desire, it's an option). Feeling great!!!!! Been eating clean since August 15th with the help of PhatBurn meals. Been working out at least 4 times a week. Using my journal to hold me accountable. Staying connected to the FB page to learn new information about fitness and nutrition from the A Team. Drinking my water as required. This is the first gym that i have tried on a trial basis and have stuck to it. I have always been about joining things and showing up once and that would be it. With phatburn it was different. From the first class I was hooked. Andrew (one of the trainers) is motivational , quick to stand by you and push you to do the last reps of things to get you through. All the people that take these classes feel like family always pushing and cheering each other on to so our best. I have finally found a place that makes me want to give it my all. I really love this place! I have tried everything from Crossfit to cycling to yoga. I was exercising regularly but I really wasn't seeing any results until I came to Phatburn. The workouts coupled with the nutrition piece made all the difference. Not to mention the food is actually pretty awesome and I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. I'm never hungry, I keep up with the workouts and the fat is just melting off. To add to the experience, everyone was so welcoming and friendly from the very beginning. Since joining PhatBurn in mid-December of 2017, I've lost 35 lbs. of fat within nine months. I also increased my muscle mass and greatly improved my bodyfat percentage. This program is legit. For the first time ever I actually look forward to working out 6/7 days. The environment is friendly and welcoming.
