    Terrible business. Avoid at all costs…read more I had some paint discoloration on my front bumper and passenger side door. This person had me park in a random apartment parking lot where he attempted to complete the work to fix the discoloration. He did not have any professional equipment. He attempted to use a touch-up paint spray can to fix the paint discoloration (as opposed to a spray gun) When he applied the spray paint, it dripped everywhere and was extremely discolored. When I told him that I wasn't happy with the job he said to "just wait" and that the paint would "blend in" as it dried. After an awkward 10 minutes of waiting for the paint to dry, it was evident that the problem would not go away and the discoloration and paint drip that he made from the spray can (which was worse than the original paint discoloration). When I told him that the work was not acceptable, he told me to just "pay for the supplies" and then asked over and over again for $75 (which is what he claims the spray can touch up paint cost). I should emphasize here that the job looked absolutely terrible, worse than It was originally and he asked for the original payment we agreed on, and after I said no he pressured me to just pay for the materials. I told him no and that he had to fix the problem he made on both the front and the side. He attempted to fix both. He removed the paint job he did from both the front and the side door. The front paint fix looked a little better after he struggled to get the paint to not drip and blend in but even the second time he attempted to fix the front the paint still dripped down but the paint blend was better (shown in the pictures of the front). He also attempted to fix the side door which he had damaged with the dripping and discoloured paint. It did not work and (after running out of paint from the spray can he had) he gave up (shown in the pictures of the side door). At this point, he asked again that I pay him what we had agreed on for the job. When I pointed out that the paint job he had completed looked terrible he again told me to "just let it dry" as it would look fine after it dried (the pictures shown are 24 hours after he "completed" the job) When I refused, he got visibly and audibly angry and agitated. I told him that I would not be paying until he fixed it. We then sat in this random car park he had made me come to and argued for 20 minutes about payment. He pulled out every sob story there is. He told me that he had no money to feed his kids, showed me pictures of his kids, had me take a picture of his license, told me that he lived at the apartment blocks (which I later found out he did not), told me that he has no family/friends to help out with money, told me that he had other customers waiting for him, told me that I was the only customer for that day, told me that his kids would starve that night, told me that he had no money to pay his babysitter for the kids, told me that his parents had just died. Also told me that he just drives around all day looking for people to ask to fix their cars and that because he hadn't found any for that day that I was robbing his kids of food. Throughout this whole encounter, he kept telling me that if there was an issue with the job (which there obviously was throughout) then he would come and fix it at no expense. When I eventually called him on his bluff and said that I would go and get food for his kids and drop it off to them he said that he would come back in two days and fix the job and that he would be expecting full payment upon his return in two days. He seems like a nice guy but does not have any of the equipment required to do bodywork and clearly doesn't know what he is doing. He lied to me multiple times and tried to scam me / take advantage of me. Avoid at all costs.

They gave me a repair estimate of $17,335.18 on October 15, which seemed reasonable, and I assumed work was being done. For over two months, I waited with no updates. Suddenly, on December 5, they emailed demanding the loaner back immediately and threatened a police report for "failure to return a rental vehicle." I called their rep (Alfonso), who said he would extend the loaner--he never followed up. That evening, the loaner was remotely disabled (Valet Mode) while I was driving, stranding me overnight in 20°F snowy/rainy weather on a busy DC street. I had to pay for towing myself to avoid freezing. The next morning (December 6), they called police (Rockville and Prince George's County), claiming I failed to return the rental. They also told officers my Florida license was "fake" or fraudulent. Police cleared me immediately. I repeatedly explained my disabilities (immune-compromised, OCD, ADHD, anxiety) and asked for accommodations to get my medication and belongings from the loaner (less than ¼ mile away at a friend's house). They refused and left me stranded without transportation or meds ever since. Now they demand over $14,000 in storage/rental fees--almost as much as the repair estimate--yet no work was ever done on my car. I have video, emails, bills, and records. This was unsafe, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Avoid if you value safety and clear communication.

Like the other yelpers noted the amount of time and abject incompetence is the reason for the low review. I was really forced here because it's where my insurance would cover after someone hit my parked car. My parked car was hit in early December and honestly but by March I had just given up on everything being really fixed. Here's the timeline and my experience. My car was hit in early December in a parking lot. I contacted my insurance company and was able to get an estimate the next day at CARSTAR. The estimator was nice but he really wasn't listening to what I told him. He visually saw my bumper, side panel, and door damage, but I told him about the alignment being off and the sensors saying they are broken. Either way, he said he would call me with updates and I would get text updates about when the parts would come in. Ms. Polly was very cordial and she had a few sheets of information. However, the text messaging system was a joke. It really just tells you when the car is in the shop and when it's done (weeks later) and if the price increased. After a few weeks, I had to call to see the status of my car parts. I totally understand parts take time. I'm glad I didn't leave my car there because it took a little over a month. My parts arrived right before the holidays about three weeks in (late December) and CarStar believes it can be done with the work within a few days. (I think 3). However, during the repairs, they noted they didn't order a sensor (that I told them was broken) so my car sits in the lot while we wait for additional parts. Keep in mind that my insurance only covers two weeks of a rental car. About a month in, my car is said that it is done. Luckily, I returned the rental car because I was going out of town. Either way, when I get the car, I noticed an excessive amount of grease in my car. Cleaning towels left inside. They did rinse off my car but it didn't cover up the damage they did to it while repairing it. So my speaker cover was cracked and damaged by CarStar. It seems like whoever was reinstalling the door didn't know how. Then the kick plate was scratched up. Again reinstalling the door. And again no damage prior to CarStar. I was going to ignore the scratches but I couldn't ignore the broken speaker cover. So then when i get home. I notice my driving steering is all wonky. I call them and they give me the runaround about how old tires (my tires are BRAND new from Costco) might affect the steering. Then they tell me they took it somewhere else to get balanced. Excuses. Then later they said the other location only balanced ONE tire. So I check my car and it's clear the balancing wasn't done. Tires somehow became under inflated. And this is brand new Costco tires. (Bought in November). Either way, the kicker was that my right camera was chrome when i brought it into CarStar. It wasn't broken. But when I got it back it was black. I don't care what color it is but I can't drive around like a car pirate with different colored cameras. My door now also isn't flush with the rest of the car. So I let them know. They promise they would fix it. And they did partially. Again I had to ask them to adjust the door trim and finally it's close to being in alignment with the rest of the car. At this point, the car is not safe to drive. They showed me an alignment sheet and it showed all four tires were "aligned". I don't know how because it wobbles. I just gave up and took it to Tesla. It felt good as new after real professionals fixed it. It just was too bad I had to pay Tesla to do a basic job. Also the parking lot if you can call it that has sinkholes not potholes. If your car was fine before if you hit one of those it won't be fine after.

See Pictures. His work voided a recall on the paint for my car. He refused to provide me with a detail list of what he did and where he touched up areas so that I could have some of the car repainted. This guy is full of lies, continues to jack up the price, leaves you hanging saying he will come back to fix it. When asked why he didn't fix the dents, he said "That's more money!!". I'm currently seeking legal help to get my money back including damages costing over $6k due to the fact he voided the recall on my car. Kept all the text messages from him trying to tell me I owe more, then admitting he was wrong and that he would pay me back in installments.

He was very aggressive that he was doing me a favor. Unfortunately even after he was paid, the car was not fixed. Somehow the headlight and turn indicator where he had worked now did not function. Then the liner inside the wheel was not properly secured, so my wheel was grinding when I went over bumps or turned too far left. He agreed to fix those things only to stop responding to multiple messages and phone calls.
