We've stuck with Ravenswoof the past few grooms and it's been going really great! One of the perks is being able to book online. They have an app that makes it simple to book an appointment and easily upload our dog's immunizations and vey records. Unlike a lot of groomers in the area, you don't have to book extremely far in advance. For a type B person like myself, being able to book within a week or two is so nice! They have examples of different hair lengths at the front desk which makes it really easy to clarify the length you want for your pup. The team does a great job and Waffle always come out looking so cute. read more

We use Ravenswoof for both grooming and daycare. We have been very pleased with the results of hand stripping for our terrier. Our dog is thrilled whenever he gets to come for daycare - happily running down the hallway once we arrive. Communication is consistent and always pleasant. We would recommend Ravenswoof without hesitation. read more

I've had it with this place. The grooming itself is fine, even though it is extremely expensive, but it is not worth the customer experience you have to fight through to get it. They never answer the phone because they claim they're "too busy with the dogs," which is just their blanket excuse for not communicating with paying customers. Need to reschedule? They'll charge you a fee with zero flexibility. It doesn't matter how much business you've brought them. Policies are rigid, and the attitude behind them is worse. Speaking of attitude: they are flat-out rude. Not "busy," not "short-staffed," just unfriendly and dismissive. Every interaction feels like they're annoyed that you exist. Customer service is nonexistent, and there's zero sense they value repeat clients. Bottom line: decent grooming, terrible everything else. There are too many talented, professional groomers in this city to settle for a shop that treats customers like an inconvenience. I'm done. read more

$20 for a nail trim. $25 for a self wash. The dryer is pretty good. I was able to get a walk in nail trim which is a big plus along with the dryer. Kind of expensive is why no 5 stars but I guess it's expected if it's clean quiet and convenient! read more

This was my first (and last) time bringing my dog here, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. When I arrived to pick up my dog, I was informed of an additional fee that had never been mentioned beforehand. The explanation given at the front desk was not only confusing but dismissive--essentially placing the blame on me as the client. I was told that "we wouldn't even accept your dog if that were the case," yet somehow there was still a fee associated with it. That logic didn't make sense, and rather than clarify or try to resolve the issue, the response felt like "tough luck." To add to the frustration, there was no effort to make it right--I was charged in full for both the grooming and the last-minute fee. What bothered me the most was the lack of customer service. As a first-time client, I expected transparency and at the very least, respectful communication. Instead, I walked away feeling dismissed and undervalued. Because of this, I won't be returning, and it's a shame because this entire experience could have been handled so much better with a little professionalism and courtesy. read more

Ravenswoof left my cat bleeding after what I thought would be a simple sanitary trim. They did not even bring this to my attention at all after they returned my cat to me after the grooming. I came home and found my cat heavily bleeding in the back after removing him from his carrier. The negligence and lack of care and communication was shocking to me as it seemed like a professional neighborhood grooming business that I could trust. Providing medication or acknowledging their error with the cut/bleeding should have been a bare minimum. Visually also, the trim appeared very rushed and unprofessional, and looked messy. The day after the bleeding incident my cat also had caught a fever (most likely from Ravenswoof, as he is an indoor cat and is also up to date on his vaccinations) and is facing significant symptoms and would not eat, requiring an emergency vet visit. It makes me wonder about the cleanliness of what goes on behind the scenes at this establishment. Frankly I am very disappointed and surprised that such a severe incident could occur from a simple grooming procedure. Our pets health should be a priority, and not taken for granted by businesses that we should be able to trust. If I could rate this 0/5 stars I would. read more

Ravenswoof has been the biggest blessing to our family. We rescued our girl Daisy when she was two years old. At that point she suffered from severe anxiety. With that in mind, it was a challenge to find a place that would treat her with the patience and grace she needed. We tried a few different groomers in the chicagoland area before we found Ravenswoof. At that time Julie was our primary groomer, and we were very pleased with the care and attention our dog received in her care. With time we were pleased to see Ravenswoof expand and hire on new team members. Due to our schedule we decided to give one of the newer groomers Nick a shot, as they had more availability at the time. Fast forward a year and a half later, and we are so pleased by the service Nick has provided to our daisy. Nick is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and patient. Nick goes out of their way to make Daisy as comfortable as possible, and cater to her more sensitive and unique needs. Not to mention the awesome work this team does! We are always so pleased with the end outcome of Daisy's time at Ravenswoof. She always comes home looking spiffy, smelling good, and looking stylish with a new bandana! Prices are reasonable, again especially considering the compassionate and professional care being offered. I would 10/10 recommend Ravenswoof to anyone in the area, you will not be disappointed. read more

I feel so guilty writing this review as I had very high hopes. Our dog is a puppy, she is 6 months old. This was her first grooming. She was desperately in need of a hair cut. She is 11 pounds. We have a good friend who has a somewhat "excited" dog, and knowing that they can take care of him gave us hopes. He is 35 pounds and has a very hard time sitting still. When we got there. It was was super loud, a lot a dogs were barking. We could barely hear the person greeting us. Our dog started to freak out. An hour before we were supposed to pick up, they texted advising they couldn't cut her hair due to safety. When we picked her up, very little hair had been cut. No evidence of nails trimmed. Her face had no trim, which was a huge bummer and priority for us because she couldn't see. We booked an appointment 1.5 months in advance, only to pay $55 bucks for a wash and a blow dry. Which we give her every week. I wish they would have told me she wasn't able to sit still earlier and I would have picked her up and not wasted their time, or mine. Also $$$. I'm so disappointed. They offered to potentially come in during the morning to help her be more calm and dog training as helpful things going forward. The training piece I took as a bit of an insult as she falls asleep in the bath with us. read more

We've gone here twice now - the first time Niles, my Maltese, got groomed by Julie and the second time by Page. Julie is great, but I wanted to give major kudos to Page since they're newer at this place and are awesome. Niles is extremely anxious and I really appreciated that Page took some time to let my boy sniff around and greet them before picking him up and carrying him into the back. It made me feel like they really understood dog behavior and that Niles would be in safe hands. Niles has had some really bad cuts before where he's ended up looking like a poodle, but Page made sure to ask us in detail about what we wanted (specifically, if we wanted a round face, and yes we did!). They were also very understanding about some mats that Niles had developed. A few hours later, I picked up a happy little guy who looked and smelled great! I was shocked that he actually wanted to go back behind the gate to explore. It makes me think that they must've been really gentle with him and not forced his boundaries too much. This place is a gem and we will be coming back again for sure. read more

Love Ravenswoof, everyone is great and welcoming. Sandy does such a good job with de-shedding my husky German Shepard mix!

We drive from Oak Park for a fear free appointment with Emily. Our little old one is a nervous and busy chap, that Emily makes look wonderful. I can trust anyone here to groom my dog, Goose! He's a stubborn little doodle. They're always so friendly and kind! My dog gets matted really easily and he can make it extremely difficult to brush daily or brush out any matted fur. They aren't judgmental of me or him when he comes in a little more matted than usual- which is a common thing to judge in the "doodle community" (never thought I'd ever say that *cringe*). He's a rescue and has some serious challenges with being brushed or clipped at home. They understand this They're also super flexible since I work from 9-4 with really no flexibility! Theyll take him in a bit early and keep him around (probably whining, sorry!) as long as needed for me. I really appreciate that! Thanks for always keeping Gooser soft and comfortable! I had been going to get my wirehaired terrier handstripped with one of the groomers since December of 2022 at regular intervals. Handstripping, particularly at this establishment, is a very expensive service, so when I went back to grad school, I could no longer afford to drop $375 + tip on a groom for my pet. (However, the work was absolutely spectacular.) So I went to a more affordable handstripper (out of necessity) for months after discontinuing service at Ravenswoof, but when I got a new job I tried to book an appointment back at the shop since I was in a better financial position. I receive a text from Julie saying: "I'm afraid this is a bit too long in between visits for us - we require more consistency and coming in more frequently to be getting handstripped. Perhaps another groomer might take on this project, but for us, we are going to have to decline. Best of luck, take care" I found the insinuation that I just let my pet's coat grow out for nearly 6 months with no tending disrespectful, but I tried to communicate with staff that this wasn't the case and that I would just like to resume handstripping with Ravenwoof because I'm so appreciative of the work they do. So I respond to this message - no response. I call multiple times and leave a voicemail - no response. I would have, at the very least, appreciated a phone call to discuss my pet's condition before dropping me as a client entirely. If the groomer no longer wanted to work my pet because handstripping was simply too much work, just say that. I didn't appreciate the implication that my pet's coat would be too unruly to tend to, and I really didn't appreciate the coldness of this message. It was blindsiding and not very kind. The despicable part is that I still would love to have the groomer work on my pet, but this message and subsequent lack of communication was kind of callous. So beware of getting dropped without even a conversation, I suppose. read more

Worse job I've ever seen from a pet groomer. They actually shaved the dog and claimed it was because the dog had matter hair, which she did not. She had slight matting around the ears/collar, but nothing requiring her to be shaved from head to toe. The groomer even went so far as to justify shaving her by saying she had an ear infection and so obviously they needed to shave her hears??? So we took her to the vet and they said absolutely no ear infection. These people just have no clue what they are doing. 12/8 Update to response: My partner brought in our dog, hence why you don't see my name, but your skepticism is noted. BTW how many dog's do you unnecessarily shave in a week? Our dog had been groomed 8 weeks earlier and was not matted. This isn't about humanity, otherwise you don't shave a dog in December in Chicago. This is about incompetence, the kind where someone makes what is shown to be a false statement in an attempt to justify there inability to do the job. I'm not the only one saying the exact same thing. Look at the Google reviews, or are they also wrong? read more

Julie is amazing!! She does such a great job on my doodles hair and always leaves him looking and smelling great! My dog is a little timid around people so the fact that he was able to let someone groom him is incredible. I confused appt days on my last visit and Julie was incredibly flexible and understanding about this. I showed up the day after a missed appointment and she was able to squeeze my pup in during a time crunch between appointments which I really appreciated. The only criticism I have over this place is that it is pretty hard to get a hold of them via phone call. I have left messages requesting switching appointment times or confirming appts and never got a response. They are a 2 women shop so it is understandable that while both working they are not able to attend to the phone. read more

Ravenswoof has made booking nail trim appointments for my princely chihuahua hassle free! My previous groomer rarely had time for nail trims and even cancelled multiple pre-booked appointments on me recently at the last minute due to staffing issues. But Ravenswoof made it easy for me to schedule an appointment at a convenient time for us all. He is generally nervous to be away from me, but tolerant when he is actually receiving the service. The staff at Ravenswoof made him feel at ease during his first appointment--he didn't even growl when they gently picked him up and walked him back! Lil Ricky was returned to me with shorter nails, happier than ever! Thanks Ravenswoof! read more

With a recent move to Lincoln Park, I was in need of a new groomer and my daughter recommended I try Ravenswoof. Every one who knows me knows how fussy I am when it comes to my dog Lucy.  She is a sheltie and generally doesn't need much of a cut.  In fact, she hates the hair brush which I mentioned to Julie the owner and she assured me that everything would be fine. I inquired about a hair drying box and learned that she only uses a hair dryer on all her dogs.  :)   I showed her a photo of a Sheltie with a puppy cut and suggested we try this.  Lucy has never really had a shorter cut but I love it and I think this is a great cut for the summer months.  I'm so happy with the cut and she smells so good!  She text me when she was ready to go and Lucy seemed so happy when I picked her up.  I highly recommend Ravenswoof!!  We'll be back!  Thanks Julie!! read more

Julie has been grooming my dogs for years.. it's so wonderful that she has her own place now! My dog is getting up there and has a heart condition now which causes her to cough a lot when distressed, and let me tell you, grooming and baths have always been stressors on her.
