I specifically booked a sanitary trim in April, but when I took my dog to a new groomer a month later, they found significant matting in that area and indicated the trim either hadn't been done properly or thoroughly. My dog had also started licking the area more than usual. Additionally, there was confusion at pickup and they initially brought out the wrong dog. Disappointed, as this hasn't been an issue for my dog after prior grooms. read more

Left with multiple lacerations on my dogs body, one that was deep enough that the vet recommended stitches. After trying to clean up his injuries they continued to take pictures for social media and allowed him to free stand on a table without attachments giving him the ability to jump after the trauma he just endured. They tried to initially make me pay with only a 20% discount and showed little remorse for their actions. After refusing to pay the general manager, who was not on site, called and offered to pay fully for the vet visit. Although they paid for the vet visit, this is unacceptable and I would not consider anyone who worked here qualified to care for an animal. read more

I brought my golden doodle, to Dashing Dog for a grooming appointment on Tuesday afternoon. He's gotten groomed there in the past without incident, and we've previously been generally pleased with the quality of work. On Tuesday we arrived for pickup at the instructed time, and were told he was almost done. After waiting for 30 minutes, the manager informed us that our dog had been injured during grooming. She claimed that he "licked the scissors" and described the injury as a small, hangnail-length cut on his tongue. In reality, the injury was far more serious -- and the timeline made it worse. The staff moved Gus out of view immediately after the incident (they normally groom dogs in view of the seating area, behind a large window) and waited approximately 30 minutes before even notifying us that he'd been injured, despite us being present in reception area. It was nearly an hour after the injury occurred before he was finally returned to us. We were told the bleeding had stopped, which was false. We took him directly to his primary vet, who immediately referred us to the emergency vet due to the volume of blood loss. The emergency vet confirmed a ¾-inch laceration that had separated part of his tongue, consistent with a scissor cut -- not a dog "licking scissors." When I called afterward to follow up, the manager contradicted herself multiple times -- first denying and then admitting that she said he had "licked the scissors," and denying then admitting that he was moved out of view intentionally after the injury. What's most upsetting is that there was no sense of urgency, care, or transparency. The focus was clearly on minimizing liability rather than caring for an injured dog. I've filed formal complaints with the Illinois Department of Agriculture and the BBB, and I strongly caution other pet owners against using Dashing Dog. read more

I would absolutely recommend this business. They are all about giving you and your dog the very best service. I have a 14 week puppy that badly needed a trim. They were so meticulous with him because they knew that it was his first time and went overboard to make sure the experience wasn't a traumatic one for him. Everyone from the receptionist to the groomer are amazing and your puppy goes home smelling amazing, with a photo of their new haircut and a little toy. Booking appointments is effortless and online and they have a cool waiting area for you while you wait for your pup. This is going to be my go to groomers for my puppy going forward. Street parking is easy to find as well. read more

Don't take your dog here. I have been here twice. The first time I wasn't happy and found a groomer who I love (Kay's pooches). Unfortunately Kay's has a long wait time to get in, so I brought my pup back to dashing dog. They told me it would take 2 - 2 1/2 hours and that they would message me when she was ready. Well 3 hours hits and I start heading over thinking why haven't I heard anything from this establishment? I get there and they seemingly just forgot to text me when she was done?!? My dog is anxious and doesn't like the groomer to begin with, but the way she ran to me when I got there was a fear I hadn't seen before. She's always excited to see me but never shaking. She was shaking from fear. I should mention the first time I brought her to dashing dog I stayed there as she was a puppy. They cut her eyelashes and whiskers! Dogs need the whiskers for scent. Dashing dog groomers do not know how to groom a dog. The rest of the cut was choppy. My pup was not bathed with full intention. She smelled normal the next day when I go to Kay's she smells amazing for a week! Then I go to checkout and it's $20 more than what I was told it would be. I asked why. It's because she has a "special coat" but I was already paying for a full groom with haircut. I have never heard of this BS before. Mind you the dogs that need hair cuts all have special coats!!! I had said I wasn't charged this previously and they said looks like they didn't charge you last time so you got it for free. Acting as though their inconsistency was a good thing. I have a feeling this is a new money grab from them. Then they give you a picture of your dog and mine was 1) labeled with the wrong name which you think if you're paying $125 for an appointment you can at least get the name right 2) my dog looked scared to death and I felt so so bad for taking her here. My dog was pulling to get out of there which she never does at Kay's. Dashing dog also hates the environment they give you a plastic bad with a toy wrapped in plastic. I don't need a TEMU toy, I need my dog to be cared for and groomed correctly. All in all, dashing dog is awful at respecting your time and terrible at grooming dogs. They're only good at traumatizing pups and owners, scamming and ruining the environment. read more

I'd give Dashing Dog a higher rating if I could. They made my dog look SO good and were so up front about everything, including the price, which I find so important. They even gave him a little surprise afterward. You should absolutely take your pup here! read more

This place is awesome! Just took my 14 year old, 3# somewhat feisty Yorkie for a grooming and wow, so handsome, fluffy & clean and.... no problems! He was happy and calm when I picked him up. Why??? Because the groomer, Pam, was kind and patient - great vibe and dogs definitely sense a good vibe. They took a polaroid, gave him a toy & adorable neck bandana - we are hooked! Very fair pricing too! As a footnote...after nearly 14 years with Kriser's on Belmont and then on Clybourn, we were asked "not to come back" by the uptight groomer...so guess what Kriser's? Thank you! We LOVE Dashing Dog and are happy to support this local small business! woof woof! read more

Our groomer moved away and I was lost. Finding someone kind, patient with our spoiled beast and who knows how to cut an active maltese seemed an impossible venture. But then I stumbled on some reviews of Dashing Dog and decided to give them a go. We haven't looked back. Staff is amazing. Friendly, kind, never rush a conversation and call with any questions or suggestions. No pushy upgrades. Hours are fabulous. Parking is easy. Super talented grooming team, especially at a very reasonable price. And it is just the cutest little spot. My dog would freak out if she could see me through the glass barrier but not escape a bath so I don't stay during visits but I always see a few dog parents working on their laptops in the community space while they wait for their pooches. You always walk away with a printed photo and size-appropriate toy and sometimes even make their IG feed. See Tofu the model below. read more

Andrea did a great job of grooming my fussy little fur ball. It's been over a month and my Norwich still looks great!

The team here was great! Andrea and Trey took good care of my pup and made sure they understood what I wanted and respected what I asked for. They also went above and beyond. My dog had some rough matting and they did an incredible job getting rid of it without having to shave him completely. Even though I asked for a wash and some light grooming they did what was best for the dog and did some extra grooming for him. Would highly recommend them! Will definitely be coming back! read more

Brought my dog Indy in. New place just opened. Easy to find. Super accommodating with getting a time (impossible in Chicago) and easy online booking process. When I got there first thing I noticed this place is BEAUTIFUL. Felt like I actually bringing my dog to a spa instead of a groomer. Love their layout and their receptionist Renee was welcoming and laid out all pricing. When I got my dog back he looked great, smelled awesome. What I loved is that they gave me a free toy, a keepsake photo AND posted my dog to instagram - so now he's essentially famous. Thanks Dashing Dog, I'll be back soon! read more

Ray and the entire staff at Dashing Dog has a level of love for the animals they service and the local clientele. I really wanted to like Dashing Dog yet I cannot because of what I witnessed during my dog's visit, which was practically animal abuse & downright traumatic. Furthermore, I wouldn't have seen any of this had I not opted to wait while he was being bathed. If I'd dropped off, perhaps I would've returned to pick up a clean, but frightened dog as well as a cute Polaroid & dog toy. Today's bath was our first visit & should have been a quick, uncomplicated one. Yet it was anything but due to the inexperience & negligence of the person who bathed him. I should have left at check in when she said it wasn't necessary to present proof of rabies vaccination; she only needs a date. Hypothetically, I could've lied & given a date esp if I realized he was overdue (he wasn't). During the service I observed that she's inexperienced, disinterested in safety & generally short tempered. Later she admitted that she is just a receptionist & SHOULDN'T BE WORKING ON DOGS. Below is a detailed accounting of what went wrong during the visit. I sat outside in the sitting area in a spot where I could observe the service and witnessed multiple events of major concern: (1) Safety concern: she didn't secure the steps to the bath basin before putting my dog on the steps and caused the stairs to fall out from under my dog. My dog dropped a few feet onto the metal steps & slammed into the wall in front of him. (2) Safety concern: When she moved him to the grooming bench, she placed the wire loop around his neck (normal) & dragged him by the wire w such force it caused him to choke. (3) Negligence: When drying him, she concentrated the air on particular spots for so long that he whimpering loudly. He wasn't reacting in any other way, but she responded to him by yelling STOP repeatedly as if he were a human & so loudly I could her her from the other side of a glass wall & over the dryer noise. Anyone who has the smallest amount of dog training knows it's ineffective to simply yell stop at a dog & expect it to affect change. (4) Negligence: While clipping his nails, she kept hyper extending and twisting his elbows. My dog is not reactive; he whimpers loudly & licks as if to petition for help when he's hurt. Again she ignored his signs of distress while yelling stop repeatedly, which frightened my dog. He kept showing distress and pulled away from her. It was at this point that I knocked at the glass to tell her stop. She couldn't hear me so invited me to come into the employees only area. I asked to immediately pull him out because I feared for my dog's safety. She hadn't finished drying him, clipping his nails or anything else included in the service. He was only bathed, damp and injured. To be clear, I should have stopped her earlier BUT I didn't because I gave her a benefit of a doubt & I didn't want to be rude or interfere. I wish I'd trusted my instincts, didn't concern myself w being nice & stopped the service right @ the start when I saw him fall or better yet she shrugged off presenting proof of rabies vaccination. This is a huge health risk red flag that I should've seen as a non-negotiable. I didn't realize it til later because she was in a hurry to get started. My instincts proved right- before I left the establishment I asked her for an assessment of the service at which point, she apologized and shared that she is just a receptionist & actually SHOULDN'T BE WORKING ON DOGS. (WTF!!!). When I asked to speak with the owner, she offered that I didn't have to pay for the service & refused to take payment. Highly alarming. During the visit, all 2 employees were in an enclosed grooming area while the front desk unmanned & front door unlocked. The entire area was unsecured. Given the rise in crime within the neighborhood, the more concerning security risk is the safety of the dogs since dog theft is a common occurrence in Chicago. Later in the evening after the owner of the place saw my google review, he simply deflected responsibility, blamed me for not pulling my dog out sooner and demanded I return to pay. That Google review mysteriously vanished and in its place a fresh new set of fake reviews. Wow. I'm speechless. If I was the owner of this establishment, I'd never let an inexperienced staff near the wash. I'd ensure people receive the proper training on using the equipment & handling dogs. I'd also apologize if my employee caused harm, at the very minimum, and take ownership to make improvements so this sort of stuff never occurs again. read more

Freddy, a 14 y/o Bichon Frise who was in great need of a full grooming went to Dashing Dogs today for the first time. Wow! What a great experience for him and for me .His appointment was at 11:00 and street parking right in front was easy. Pam, his groomer was waiting for him as we walked. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Freddy went back and had his bath and I got to watch everything from a nice, comfy chair. Bichons are difficult to cut, and I could see that Pam was careful to give him the right look! When she was finished, she gave him a kerchief and took a pic for social media (so check it out on Insta). Yes, it was expensive, but as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Dashing Dog Grooming on Clark Street is terrific, and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants their fur babies to enjoy a spa day and look great . read more

It was my pup's birthday and it seemed that every grooming salon in Chicago was booked. I happened to come across this place through Yelp and it had five star review so I went ahead and called. This is a new salon that just opened so luckily they had an appointment and booking an appointment was pretty easy. Parking: Street parking. So, make sure you book your appointment and plan ahead when getting there because parking is difficult. Cleanliness: There's nothing that I could say about this salon. It's super clean and it has glass windows to see your dog get a haircut, if you plan on staying there. If you do, they have some refreshments for you. Price: I normally groom my own dog except for nails and haircut and have only really been to Petco for grooming-- I paid $125 for full-grooming including a deshedding treatment. My dog is a 50 lb Golden Retriever, 1 yr old. Grooming: It took them 1 hour and 40 mins to finish my pup. He had a really nice hair trim and looked very clean and smelling so fresh. In comparison to how I do it at home. Staff: The owner also owns a golden retriever so he was understanding of his golden retriever/puppy behavior. The rest of the staff were friendly and nice. Even the girl who was grooming another dog was smiling and pleasant through the window and seemed like she was enjoying her time interacting with the dog she was grooming. Bonus: If it's your first time booking with them your pup gets a mystery treat/toy box. read more

I saw the last bit of my dog getting groomed, and it was not great. The groomer was yelling stop in my dogs face when he turned his head to see me through the glass. He also had his hand wrapped around his nose and mouth in an aggressive way while my dog was shaking. Also, the hair cut was so bad. I have a long haired dog and showed a picture telling them not to cut some of his hair in certain places. They ignored that and now we looks shaved. This will take months to grow out. They looked like they did an okay job with small dogs. Maybe don't take breeds with long hair here. Also they take down their bad reviews on google. read more

I took my 10 year old, anxious rescue pup, Charlie here after learning about it from a neighborhood Facebook review and it was awesome! The staff is nice but I felt like her appointment was rushed. Paw shaved was not done and we had to tell the groomer to do it. No ear cleaning was done. The front desk said since they trimmed her face (her eye area in order for her to see) then there was no time for the rest even though I did get charged extra for trimming around her face. She was still wet when we got her. Just a poor job done. First and last time here. read more

Very nice store. They did great job on my baby dog. Appreciate the free dog toy, so cute!! They have cute retail section Too!

We have tried this place out twice and definitely won't be going back. The first visit went ok with our pup but geez it was stressful just checking him in. Definitely unorganized. We decided to give the place a second chance with a full groom for our pup. It wasn't great. The staff was so rude just with us checking in. The girl working at the front desk and the guy that took our pup to the back just could care less about anything. The guy practically drug our dog back to the kennel. I about lost it. So we were told it would be about 1 1/2-2hrs for the grooming. Fine. We were told they would call us. 3hrs later with no call, we walked in to a chaotic mess. One guy was complaining his dogs cut was terrible (which it was and I felt so bad for both of them) the staff were running around confused, one dog in the back going nuts (probably stressed to the max) and the staff being rude to the guy that was complaining about his pups cut. Finally they brought our pup out and he acted so frightened. Not like him to do so. His cut was such a hack job. I mentioned to the staff that a few things weren't correct and I got nothing. Scratch that I got an eye roll from the front desk girl. We paid the bill without a thank you for your business or anything. I watched how one groomer was handling a pup and I was horrified. She was being very aggressive and the pup was shaking. Save yourself and your pup some stress and take them to another place. Do your research and read all reviews. read more
