Hi, I'm Pumpkin, the 7 mo toy poodle in the photos. This is my fresh summer cut and damn, do I look goooood! It's my 2nd haircut EVER and I'm SO glad I went to Pet Friendly Grooming Salon. - My appointment was for 8:30 am, so no other pooches were there. I had a very special one on one time with the groomer and was a good girl throughout the whole process. Everything was done in a timely manner and I was able to wait for my human unleashed and in an open space! Thanks to my groomer I am summer ready! Priscilla is great. I've brought my pup Indy to her a few times now and he comes out clean and okay :) he's a bit nervous with grooming but he seems to be okay with her. My pup gets a regular grooming, nothing fancy. He's about 13 lbs, chihuahua shih tzu mix; so longer hair but not a heavy coat. I explored a few places and like her best. She gets the job done quickly and well and is super responsive on text and scheduling. read more

Took my nervous rescue pup here today and Heath was very gentle with him. Benny came out smelling fresh, clean and very fluffy, but most importantly his tail was wagging. Heath also had some tips for me as a new dog mom. I love that everything is in the open so you can peek in from the street. Will definitely be back! Priscilla is a great groomer. My Havanese has never had a better cut, her precision around his face is excellent and I'm sure it's hard to do. She's fast too, only takes about an hour. I highly recommend for small breeds. read more

Heath is so good with our nervous Nellie and Newton (six years & counting). Newton was especially upset in the beginning. He was a two year old puppy mill rescue with a fear of cars, people... and just about everything. We got Nellie as a pup to give Newton a pack. It worked but she decided if Newton is nervouse maybe she should be too. Heath is just lovely in how he handles them. They can go in at the same time, he's soothing and takes the time to settle them a bit. NEVER a nick or razor burn, which is not the case with other groomers we tried first. So happy to have been referred to Heath. Pups are good and Heath gives them lovely, flattering cuts. Best of the Best. read more

Heath is great! I have brought my dogs here a few times now, and all I can say is, THANK YOU!! The best haircuts they have ever received, FAST service, and NO CAGES!!! I have a Shih Tzu and a Wheaton Terrior mix. Heath always does exactly what we ask to their hair, he is always done really quickly and we have never had any problems. I love that they are not caged, but area all kept in the room with heath on leashes. Especially with my bigger dog, who has never been in a crate in his life, I appreciate that he isn't so confined. We came to Heath after having several bad experiences with other groomers in the area (Petco & Petsmart). These other places took forever, and because my shih tzu has sensitive skin, cost me a ton of money and trips to the vet to respond to her skin irritations and other issues that always developed the day after going to these places. Since she has been going to Heath, she has had NONE of these problems!!! Again, I can't say enough about Heath and his team. I'm so happy I have finally found a great groomer with fair prices and excellent service. Just remember, bring cash if you go here, as he doesn't take credit/debit cards. And five woofs from Cody! Cody is 13 so that means we have tried a lot of different groomers. We have stuck with Heath because Cody's cut is always great and his coat is "freakishly soft" (as my friend once described it). Plus, Heath usually gets the job done in two to two and a half hours (another groomer kept him all day). This is no small feat since Cody is a dog's dog and likes to roll in dirt and leaves and other muck. I originally went to Heath per a neighbors recommendation when I told her I was trying to find a groomer that doesn't cage the dogs. Aside from that, Heath also really cares. read more

Heath is amazing! We brought two of our cats because the hot weather that we had before they lost their winter coat resulted in matts that we couldn't handle. Heath calmly combed the matt from our Norwegian Forest Cat as we requested. We'd been trying to remove it for days without any luck. Then groomed our 15 year old tuxedo girl beautifully. They allowed him to comb, trim and shave where necessary without a hissy fit. He's truly a cat whisperer. read more

We all want our dogs to look and smell great, but it is more important that they are not frightened or hurt. We started bringing our eight week old puppy to Heath, understanding that this would not be the groom of a mature, steady dog. Indeed, he was extremely honest, charged a bit less because he did the best he could with a wiggly fur ball. Our grooms are getting better and better as, to quote Heath "I am getting better at grooming him". This is a subtle distinction, but an important one. We have been to groomers with our previous dog who would imply it was the dogs fault if something did not turn out well... Heath takes each groom as a professional should-his expertise and his responsibility. read more

I didn't like my cat's grooming. The guy said that my cat didn't allow him to use the pet grooming machine, so that he did everything with scissors which made my cat's fur horrible. However, he was doing everything by himself which I believe makes impossible to get something done in a cat! As he said: " the cats don't stand on the table as the dogs does." I needed to set my cat's fur when I got home. So upset I paid $70 read more

DOES NOT NEED NEW BUSINESS/DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS I left three messages in the span of a little over a week requesting a grooming appointment based on all of these favorable Yelp reviews. After basically throwing business at him, Heath did not bother to return my phone calls, so I can only surmise that he does not need any new business. I am confident he received at least one of my messages because when I first called (all three messages were left in mid-May), his voice message was old, indicating he would be out of town on some date in March, returning on some date in March. When I called the second time, the voice message had been updated, which leads me to believe that he retrieved his messages in order to update his voice message. It is rude and inconsiderate to completely ignore three polite requests for grooming services, so I am inclined to believe that Heath is either quite inconsiderate or that he simply does not need new business. In either case, a return phone call to a potential new client basically throwing money at him, based on all of his favorable Yelp reviews, would have been the professional and considerate thing to do, even if it was just to tell me that he was not in need of business. I would not have wasted my time and would have moved on to find another groomer, which I am now about to do. So, don't bother calling and leaving a message if you expect to be called back. read more

Well, I don't know. I think this place is somewhere in between two and three stars. It was my first time taking my cat for a shave, and he is an extremely feisty animal. In fact, I took him to one place (not mentioning any names), and they called me after 20 minutes to tell me to come get my cat because he wouldn't tolerate them touching him in any way. I don't blame them at all because I know my cat, and he is really timid. A true fraidy cat, you might say! In a panic I called my vet who said either pay for sedation (more than the price of the shave!) or try Pet Friendly. I called and they were able to take me that same day. My cat is a semi long-haired male, 8 years old, and his matts had gotten out of control. Pet Friendly is completely no-frills, unlike other places they do not do dogs and cats on separate days. In fact, there was a big, loudly barking dog on the table next to my cat. Things started out well, and the owner and his assistant both commented on how chill my cat was. He must have gone to his happy place. I don't know if I would exactly call Heath a cat-whisperer, it just seemed to me like he's not afraid to get in there and grab the cat and start shaving. He got off most of my cat's fur and then gave him a bath, after which he told me I could come back in an hour. I had requested the lion cut and when I came back my cat still had all of his front fur - I guess there are variations of the lion because it wasn't quite what I expected - I thought they left only the head and mane. He at least got out all the matts, but when I got my cat home and did a closer inspection, he is shaved pretty unevenly, and there is also a huge raw spot right under his tail where he was shaved too closely. Also, his nails weren't cut, which I assumed was part of the $65 fee. All in all, if you don't look too closely and ignore the slight tail butcher job, my cat does look pretty cute, but next time I may consider the sedation so that the job is more thoroughly and carefully done! Again, all of this with the disclaimer that I know that my cat is extremely difficult to work with, so I believe that Heath did the best he could. read more

We just moved to the neighborhood and needed a new groomer close by, when we lived in the loop it took us a few tries to get a good groomer. We're glad that they knew how to properly groom a bichon, as some groomers do not. We took our dog in looking pretty pathetic, and he came out looking like a million bucks. We will continue to bring our dog here. She did an amazing job. Prices are comparable to what we have always paid elsewhere. read more

The guy who runs this place is a dog savant. Our 20 pound little guy Arnie was happy and chilling out in the room with all the other dogs when we came to get him. The groomer doesn't crate any of the dogs or put them in a back room. They all are leashed around the room just hanging out with each other in the front of the store. He also fit Arnie in on a day's notice and told me I could come as early as 7:30AM before my work day to drop Arnie off, which is rare since most places don't open til 8 or 9. He did a great job on the haircut and I took home a very happy, untraumatized dog. read more

I have three wonderful stories about Pet Friendly.... I first heard about Heath through my neighbor who had a Rotweiller named Fibber. Every time Fibber had to have his nails trimmed, they had take him to the vet and have several attendants hold him down to clip his nails. When they started going to Heath at Pet Friendly, they noticed that Fibber's nails were always clipped so nicely. When Randy (my neighbor) asked Heath how he did it-Heath said he simply whispered in his ear, "Be a good boy" and that is all that it took.... Heath is the dog whisperer, so I fet confident to take my elderly Keeshound, Sita, to Heath, even though she had been severely traumitized by a dog groomer in the past. And, Health let me stay with her while he groomed her (though is not his normal procedure); he totally indulged me and ended the appointment by giving Sita a kiss on the nose. Sita then willingly trotted, calm and happy, into Heath's doggie salon for all future appointments; which was quite a remarkable feat! Yeah, Heath....!! Today, my current Keeshound, Miles, who is very, very fluffy and hot in the summer, gets groomed by Heath on a regular basis. I asked Heath if he could trim down Miles a bit so that he would not be so hot in the summer and Heath said that this was not so appropriate for a Keeshound and refused to give him the cut...I was really pleased that Heath held his ground as I learned from my vet that you are not supposed to cut down Keeshounds caused they can get sunburned. How beautiful our pretty Penny is! We brought our shih-tsu cocker spaniel in and had no idea what kind of cut to tell him. We left it in his hands and she came out looking amazing! He even made sure to cut it shorter around her neck since it tends to knot easier around there. She came out happy as a clam and so are we! Had to dock one star for the price- it was pretty pricey- and there were a few stray hairs not properly trimmed. Overall he was great and we couldn't be happier w how cute our baby is!! read more

With only one 16 year old dog left, I was hesitant to take my old girl to a groom who caged dogs or let a zillion dogs run around the store. After passing by his storefront every day on my way to work, I decided to look him up on Yelp and see what other thought of him. I've taken my tiny toy poodle to Pet Friendly a half a dozen times and have always been really happy with his cut. Heath does a great job and my dog seems to really like him. Its also nice that you can see the grooming area as soon as you walk in--makes you feel a bit more confident about dropping off your baby. My dog is always in and out in under 2 hours. My cat is 13, and a little bit cranky. Her short, thick coat had become completely overgrown over this hot hot summer and she was a mess: all matted and shedding like crazy. I could not do a thing with her before she'd start swiping at me. I was sure she'd need to be shaved, but Heath just calmy put her on the table and started combing her. Didn't ask her permission, didn't try to talk her into anything, just put the lead around her neck and got to work. And she didn't complain but once or twice. Mostly, she seemed to find it interesting. In ten minutes he had removed an enormous pile of fur and matting (the size of another small cat). At that point I left. When I came back, she was sitting contentedly in her carrier, drying off in front of the fan. This is a cat who always cries in the car but she was silent the whole way home. I took my cat in to Heath and was nervous because she was abused as a kitten and doesn't do well with most people. She absolutely loved Heath though. He was so good with her. We started taking our dog, Sadie, to Pet Friendly when she was a puppy. Heath always did a fantastic job with her; however, there were a few times when we needed to get Sadie in right away and Heath didn't have availability, so we started going to a different groomer. We just started back up with Heath, and we are mad we left him in the first place! When comparing him to the groomer we had been using for the past few years, there is no comparison. Sadie is a cockapoo and her fur gets matted very easily. When we would take her to the other groomer, they would spend 5+ hours and they wouldn't even attempt to keep her fur long - they would always completely shave her. I understand needing to shave her, especially if there was no way to get the matt out; however, spending over 5 hours to do this seemed a little ridiculous. She also seemed to be very skittish whenever we would take her to that groomer and she would come home with red patches from where they shaved her too close. We decided to try Heath again for her most recent grooming. It had been about 3.5 months since Sadie had been groomed so she had a ton of matting. Heath spent 1.5 hours on her, and he actually kept her hair long! He was able to get all the matting out just from brushing. On the few areas where Sadie's hair is shorter due to the matting, she has absolutely no red patches. On top of being a phenomenal groomer, Heath also seems to be very gentle and Sadie doesn't seem to mind going to him. I joke to my husband that he is like 'the dog whisperer'. Sadie has really bad anxiety and whenever she is away from either myself or my husband, she instantly cries. When I gave her over to Heath, Sadie was as calm as a clam. We truly appreciate Heath and his skills. We will not be straying away from him again! read more
