I've always loved this little place. They've had the best scones, coffees and chicken salad in town... and I've sent many people their way. They're about a 20 minute drive from home and in the complete opposite direction of work, but if I had the chance to go, I would. Unfortunately, I won't be recommending it after this morning. I'd gotten a gift certificate for Christmas and went this morning to use it, only to be told that I couldn't because ownership recently changed and "you should've gotten an email about the change." Ummmm, no, I didn't get an email. I knew about the change because I saw it on social media but never thought the gift certificate wouldn't be honored. The owner was very nice about it, but it still irritates the hell outta me. Not only was I disappointed but I feel my sweet friend who gave me the gift certificate completely wasted her well earned money. That being said, they did give me a small discount, but the scone was nowhere near as tasty as previous ones...either it wasn't fresh or just wasn't a good recipe. I hate it, but I probably won't go here again. read more

Was in Culpeper for a few days and decided to pop in this cafe for coffee. I'm so glad I made that choice. The store has a very cozy ambience to it and the owner is very kind! The food and coffee was delicious. A plus is that they use coffee ice cubes so your coffee won't be diluted! Would definitely be back again if i'm ever in the area. read more

I love this little place. The coffees are really good. The Italiano is my favorite. On ice, it tastes a lot like an unsweetened iced coffee from Starbucks. Baked goodies are always tasty, and the service is great. I love sitting outside at this place and enjoying my caffeine! read more

Every time I've been here the latte was fabulous! The employees are really friendly and its in a very cool old building with the original exposed brick. Recently I got a gingerbread latte and it was one of the best gingerbread lattes I've had! It was spicy and sweet, and of course made with whole milk! I shared some with one my best friends and she absolutely loved it! If I'm ever near Culpepper I'll stop in.. read more

This place is a gem! Great latte with extra foam just the way I like it, homemade peach pie, and friendly service. If I lived closer I'd be back every day. ;) read more

Really cute local place, great coffee and home made granola! The owner is very sweet and so is their pet bird! It was refreshing to find this eclectic coffee shop on my way home from Pittsburgh in between dilapidated Dunkin Donut and Starbucks joints! read more

This was a nice quite cafe like coffee bar. The lady was extremely sweet and very personable. The coffee was great and she ground the beans in front of us. I had the Milky Way coffee and it was great. I will definitely stop in again next time I'm in town. read more

Service was fab. Americano was impeccable. Lady who served us was friendly and offered suggestions on local events and dining options.

Has to be extra special for me to give five stars. Service was outstanding. BlackBerry scone was probably the best that I have ever had. My latte was excellent. Very creative menu. read more

Extremely overpriced. Tables are crammed too close together. Coffee was average. The scone I had was very tasty but like I said the price was ridiculous. The old location across the street seemed nicer too. read more

I was very happy to find this place while spending a week in Culpeper. I was starting to think that Holiday Inn coffee was the best I was going to see, and I was getting concerned. The service is a little slow and the wait in line can be lengthy, but the coffee is great and the pastries and food is even better. They serve Raven's Brew coffee, which I have never seen in a coffee shop before. I've only been able to pick it up in specialty stores or order it online. Hey, how can you pass up Deadman's Reach or Three-Peckered Billy Goat? Especially when it is good coffee and not just a catchy label. The pastries are outstanding. The scones are maybe a bit sweet for my preference, but still very good. The biscotti is fantastic. Everything is baked fresh in-house. Well worth the effort. The shop is located on Davis street and is among other small shops and restaurants. A great place to grab a cup of coffee and then go wander the Farmer's Market on Saturday. read more

I paid over $10 for a small coffee and a ham, egg, and cheese croissant. The coffee was fine. The croissant, however, was microwaved. She literally grabbed it off tray behind the counter, walked it over to the microwave, and nuked it for a minute or two. The result was a $7 inedible lump. I was in Culpeper passing through after a trip to Shenandoah National Park. I'm not sure I'll be in town again, but if I am, I'll opt for a different place for breakfast. read more

The service was as great as the coffee and the food. While the cafe has been open less than a month, it was obvious that they have many regulars....always a great sign. Customers were greeted by name and staff knew what they would want for lunch. Staff from other businesses came in to place orders that would be picked up later. My decaf (what I get everywhere) was bold, as promised. The quiche of the day was delicious. Service was quick. I would detour to come here again! read more

The good: My wife and I both enjoyed the hot chocolate and the chai latte we got. The coffee shop seems to fit in real nicely with the downtown feel of culpepper. The girl that served our drinks was really friendly. The bad: As we were getting our drinks, a lady with a little dog in the store was leaving and whispered to a friend in earshot of us something and ended with a "...they obviously aren't from around here." To which her friend replied, also loud enough for us to hear, "Obviously!" Now, they could have been referring to our fancy sunglasses or the fact that we are in our 30s and parents of a two year old, but it made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The whole experience left us with a sour taste of the shop and of the town in general. read more

Great local coffee house hangout. Coffee is reasonably priced, ambiance is cozy, and the brownies are out of this world. Looking forward to visiting again! read more

Delicious food and ice tea and lovely, warm service, great atmosphere. Will definitely go back. Try the ginger peach ice tea -- you don't need sweetener because it's so tasty but if you want it, they even take the time to make fresh simple syrup. Delicious chicken salad and the brussel sprout kale salad is to die for. Great place to get some work done, read the paper or enjoy a meal. read more

Love stopping at Ravens Nest. Cool place, cool vibe. The coffee used to be better when it was coming from Alaska though. They are using local coffee now, which is nice but just not as good. Food is good, not great but good. Nice folks working there. read more

The Raven's Nest consistently provides excellent refreshment along with a lot of charm. The staff is warm and engaging, coffee is excellent and the environment is friendly and comfortable. Always a pleasure to stop by. read more

Culpeper was selected as the place to spend our 24th wedding anniversary this past weekend after narrowing down our options from several nice towns in the State of Virginia. It proved to be the right decision up to a sad episode at the Raven's Nest. On January 18th, my husband and I decided to try different places for a coffee. We had our desserts from It's About Thyme and we headed to the Raven's Nest for coffee. At the coffee place we ordered a cappuccino and a latte to go with our desserts. As newcomers to the town, little did we know about an unwritten policy that we were not allowed to consume our desserts at the Raven's Nest even after making a purchase. To our surprise and discomfort, the Raven's Nest owner, Ms. Jessica Hall told us, in a very impolite way and in front of other patrons, that we were not allowed to bring food in from elsewhere. She proceeded to ask us to leave her establishment. We have never been more embarrassed or for that matter, never kicked out of a public establishment. We found the behavior described above completely unacceptable, especially from a local owner who should be aware of the efforts her town makes to attract business to Culpeper. In disbelieve, we went to the Culpeper Welcome Center and made a formal complaint. This type of behavior will prevent us and our circle of friends from visiting this lovely town any time soon. read more

A nice place to spend time ~ reminiscent of the Greenwich Village coffee houses. Has good WiFi, good food, great coffee, selection of tea and everyone who works there has a good attitude. A little pricey but I don't mind paying for quality. read more

Loved the iced coffee. The pastries are all made in house. Their coffee uses ice cubes made from coffee.

Very nice atmosphere and a must stop at to grab coffee while in Culpepper! Got a almond latte with skin and tasted wonderful. Will be stopping by again. Lots of nice features and vintage mailboxes! read more

Best coffee in Culpeper. And lots of good games to keep the kids busy. The staff are great and friendly. This place is a gem.

I have known the owner of this sweet little place for better than 20 years. Everything she does is done with care and with pleasing her customers. I visit once or twice annually and have watched Raven's Nest blossom into a thriving social spot. I am very familiar with the owner's culinary skill and imagination. I favor the chicken salad, the home-concocted soups, and the pies (are to die for). I am waiting for chilled green gazpacho in the summer months and would love to see the addition of some variation of a breakfast oatmeal bar. I am not a coffee drinker, but I have grown to like a decaf-breve with honey and cinnamon placed in the bottom of the cup before the heat is added. The aroma from the cup is very soothing. The atmosphere adds to the overall appeal. I am told that the cafe recently moved across the street to a larger building. I cannot wait to see what the owner has done this time. If you are traveling through Culpeper and you miss checking out the Raven's Nest, you are making a mistake! What a refreshing and welcome alternative to Starbucks. read more

Wonderful coffee, pastries, service, and atmosphere. It's tucked away in downtown Culpeper and it so quaint. I've never had a bad experience here. They are welcoming and serve great treats! read more

The coffee and scones were excellent. However, I hate coffee shops that try to have eclectic seating that ends up just being uncomfortable and stiff. I'd go again- great treats, great location, big sunny space. Just gotta lock down a comfy chair next time. read more

After standing in a 7 person line for 20 minutes, I finally reached the front to place an order. I asked for an almond milk latte and was told that they were currently out. I was then asked if I "need" almond milk or if I order it to be trendy, in which case, I should stop ordering almond milk so the people who "need it" will have it. Here's an idea, stock up on more almond milk if your customers are ordering more and don't lecture your customer on which milk to order while insulting them for trying to be "trendy." Awful awful service. I'll never return. read more

Last Sunday my wife and I were trying to get a cake across the street but the bakeries were closed. So we decided to get some coffee. We stopped in because it was just right there. We didn't get the names of the two working. But they were super nice and helpful. And gave us some ideas of where to get cakes. Then we got the butter pecan frappe-chino. It was one of the most amazing things we had to drink. We were halfway to warranting and came close to turning back for another. Must visit again. read more

My boyfriend and I love going to cute coffee shops and we thought this was one of them. Walked in thinking it was a cute coffee shop. As soon as we walked in through the door it smelled like a sewer...which was fine...can ignore that. My boyfriend proceeded to order a ham egg and cheese crossaint, which the barista pulled out a premade, unheated crossaint from the show case. It wasn't even a sandwich. It looked like a pastry with a small amount of egg with a little piece of ham for 7 DOLLARS. Outrageous. I ordered a salmon bagel which was fine minus the hair I found in it. His coffee was fine cause you really can't mess that up. But my chai latte with almond milk tasted like spiced water...our total for all that came close to $30. We absolutely won't be back and neither have us have written a yelp review before but this was SO necessary. For how much we paid, I could have gotten much better quality elsewhere. So disappointing... read more

Excellent place to hide from the winter weather. Great environment and excellent coffee and snacks!

This is a cafe I've been going to for a while. I hadn't gone in for a while but the new locations suits it great. I love the smell in there. The whole place is warm and very homie. The staff there is kind and very patient. I ordered a hot chocolate with whip cream. It was hot but the speed of it cooling down was incredible. They ask what type of milk you wanted; whole, almond, or soy. You can also pick the type; 2%, 1%, etc. I highly recommend this be your hang out place! read more
