Beautiful inside

I was visiting Frericksburg and was so happy to be able to go to Hyperion. I loved everything about this coffee spot. It is a big coffee shop with plenty of seating directly inside and in a separate room right next to the front door. The staff was friendly and delightful. I ordered a Vanilla Latte and paired it with a Cinnamon Coffee Cake. I'm so happy they offered to heat it up because it melted in my mouth. My only regret is I didn't get a chance to go back to order more. I recommend Hyperion if you want to go somewhere with friends or to kick back with a good read.

Great little coffee shop. Employee's were pleasant and helpful. There is indoor & outdoor seating. They offer multiple coffee options and pastries. My latte was full of flavor. They do offer sugar-free syrups! I had the chocolate cookie and it was yummy.

If you're in Fredericksburg and looking for a quick caffeine fix, this is your spot. Vast array of coffee, espresso, tea, and smoothies. Espresso was bold, rich, a full of flavor and the cold brew was sweet and mellow. Kids loved the muffins.

A person stands at the counter of Hyperion Espresso, a coffee shop in Fredericksburg, VA, engaging with two staff members behind the counter. The shop features a menu board above, displaying various hot, iced, frozen, and cold drinks, along with pastries in a display case on the right. The interior has a yellow wall and a black railing separating the counter area from the customer space.

Wow. My companion and I visited Hyperion for the first time on a recent Saturday morning during the peak morning rush. We had a significant feeling of dtead since the line reachef the door (more on that later). The shop is a charming establishment in the heart of Fredericksburg's historic district. I ordered a drip coffee and butter croissant; she had an apple cinnamon muffin and a mocha latte. All were excellent, which brings me to... ...the service. In a word: phenomenal. Stunning, jaw-dropping, and unworldly would also fit. Three folks working in a pretty small space handled orders with an efficiency that would make FedEx proud. Our initial dread over a long line quickly became stunned shock at how quickly the line moved. Frankly, we've grown begrudgingly accustomed to independent coffee shops whose staff works at a far more leisurely pace. Best of all , the staff accomplished this feat with noticeably pleasant attitudes. Service was fast but not rushed, and the staff took the time to be both fast and friendly. It was a great experience and we will be back when visiting Fredericksburg in the future.

This is a nice coffee shop in downtown colonial Fredericksburg. The coffee is excellent and a nice nice place to chill when walking around town. The staff is friendly and your coffee comes out pretty quickly.

Iced vanilla latte with almond milk

Such a cute place, and even better coffee!! I got an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, large. I would've gotten a medium but it comes with 4 shots... no way! The large also came with 4 shots, but then at least the flavor wouldn't be so concentrated. The small (12oz) iced came with 2 shots. My large latte was 7.35... kinda pricey. But the taste was so good that I honestly think it was justified.

I love discovering local coffee shops while traveling. Stopped in here for a latte and a scone. Loved that they let me use my own mug. Coffee was perfect and I really enjoyed the vibe there. Cranberry scone was really good as well. Made my morning. Thanks!

Frozen mocha - A clear plastic cup containing a cold coffee beverage with foam on top is held in front of a Volvo car's steering wheel. The cup has a red straw and features the Hyperion Espresso logo, which includes a stylized dragon and the establishment year 1994. The background shows part of the vehicle's dashboard and steering wheel, indicating the photo was taken inside a car.

I visit Hyperion every time I go to Fredericksburg! It's a relatively small coffee shop, located in the historic area of Fredericksburg. They have some food options, including muffins and other baked goods. My favorite drink from Hyperion is the frozen mocha, I get it almost every time I go! The people working there are always very nice and get the drinks done efficiently so you're never waiting long for your drink, even when they're busy!

As usual, my wife started looking for a place we haven't been before. Having been in Fredericksburg now for almost 2 1/2 years, the list of such places is getting shorter. We were out Route 3 west of 95, and she found a place called Affogato Europa Cafe. It's a family-run cafe and bakery featuring pastries, sandwiches, coffees, and lots of other sweets. It was a very clean, friendly looking place. We looked at the menu and my wife decided to have a Beef and Onion Burek, which is a traditional Balkan flaky pastry filled with, in this case, beef and onions. It was fantastic. Very flavorful and the pastry melted in your mouth. I'm a sucker for anything with the word "breakfast" in it. I had the Balkan Breakfast Panini. This marvelous sandwich contains egg, chorizo, cheese spread, provolone, tomato, and arugula. It was outstanding and the chorizo was very tasty (though a bit hard to bite through). I know I love a sandwich when after I put the last bite in my mouth, I feel a little sad because it is all done. Such was the case here. My wife had a Cortado espresso, which she loved but was a bit strong for me. I had a London Fog, which seemed like a latte with a hint of Earl Gray tea. I loved it, and when my wife tasted it she pronounced it "nummy". She doesn't use that word a lot so when she does I know she loves it. After lunch we split a Lava Cake, which is a small but decadent chocolate cupcake. The dining room was small but comfortable. The servers we encountered at the counter were very friendly. Rest room was very clean. It's not really close to us, but when were shopping out on Route 3, we'll certainly try them again.

I was excited to give this place a try - but what others have said is true - there is an extremely pungent smell of (what I believe is) mold that's rampant throughout the room. I had to cover my nose while I was there because it was so overbearing. At the desk, there were an assortment of other pastries and bakery items that were out for display - but what I noticed was that one of the pastries had a massive amount of what I believed was mold growing on top of it. It was discolored gray and I couldn't help but stare at it. The lady that tended to us was kind enough, but I think it's just her tending the store. I didn't see anyone else there and she walked out to the back to make the tea drinks for us. Judging by the state of the front of the store - I was really curious to see the state of the store in the back. The tea I drank was okay. It didn't taste completely off, but it was generic. Sugary. The state of the location had just set me off so much I didn't feel comfortable continuing to consume it. Frankly, we sort of expected better. If nothing else, the very harsh smell needs to be removed. There were enough indicators there for me to suspect there's a lot of mold growing somewhere within that room.

There are plastic covers on the chairs, which is practical yes, but takes away from the formality of a tearoom. A couple of the tables were wobbly, and I think they could use one or two smaller tables for twosomes and threesomes. The paper napkins were wrapped the utensils with a cute ribbon which was a nice touch for paper napkins. The main drawback: There was literally a little waste receptacle ON the table! Definitely not appropriate. There's a sort of creepy yet quirky robot that greets you at the front door. It evidently speaks different languages. She's cute though! Her name is Rose. The Victorian afternoon tea was nice, you know okay. I had the cucumber sandwiches (and added chicken salad sandwich for an upcharge) and the tea for $16.95 came with a mini cupcake, a mini scone and a mini cookie. The cuke sandwich was lightly toasted and fresh, the chix salad was on wheat and too mayonnaise-y for my taste. The sweets were delicious. You can choose your sandwich from several options, and your flavor of scone. Today the had raspberry white chocolate, orange cranberry, and blueberry. The Earl Grey cream tea was hot and fresh. Nicely steeped! The teapot and the tea accoutrements were all pretty! The server, Jamie, was sweet and helpful. The shop was also filled to the brim with gifts: jewelry, tea things, figurines, ornaments, candles, soaps and other knickknacks. While I was there the tearoom filled up quickly! Families and guys enjoyed their tea times. However, the ladies behind me were quite loud and rude playing videos loudly of their kids doing "cute" things. So gauche! So uncouth! Not tearoom manners at all! I wanted to take their phones! Ugh! Several customers walked in and ordered from the counter with a large selection of smoothies, boba tea, bubble tea, chai teas, milk teas, coffees, and milkshaplus a huge selection of regular teas: black, herbal, green and white teas. I'd come back, but don't expect the typical English tea experience. It's a bit more low key and casual. Unless you have a large party, you can just walk in without a reservation. I did come back! It was nice that on a Friday, they were open late and we were able to grab a bite! Service was slow on this day because I think only one person was minding the store! I chose the Buckingham Palace tea this time!!
