Faced with yet another deeply disappointing haircut at another salon, I felt like it was kismet when I heard Kristina (the salon founder) speak with passion and conviction about the mission of Left Coast Salon. Education and the deepest of care: That's what I felt, along with a whole body yes and sigh of relief as I settled into Heather's chair at the salon. Heather COMPLETELY listened, educated, and created a space of safety and ease for me as she did her impeccable artistry with my hair. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding because two weeks later and my (naturally multi-textured) curly hair still looks like everything I could ever hope for!!

She has supported me with many hours of exciting color combinations. And what a trooper she is because I have massively thick hair! She is real too. When I wanted to go with lighter colors, she walked me through the full process stating it would take multiple trips to get my black hair light enough while maintaining the integrity of my hair. She is very educated in hair and my color, cut and style are on point every time! I can't express how amazing my hair looks when she's done, even months later! I've literally had people stop in their cars to tell me how much they love my hair. Women who normally don't like fun colored hair, are constantly sharing their joy for my locks! I've never felt such immediate trust and comfortability in a stylist. It's insane how much you dont realize your hair impacts your self esteem when it's been in a state for some time. I could feel my personality getting bigger (or rather, coming back) as she cut off all this length and I watched her transform my hair. My cup truly runneth over with joy once it was complete! Instead, my card was charged $220, which is a $80 difference from what I was quoted. I came in specifically for a hair color and was very clear about the color I wanted. Before getting the service, I asked multiple times if the color I showed in my reference pictures was achievable, and I was repeatedly reassured that it was. I showed several examples to make sure there was no confusion about what I was asking for. Unfortunately, the final color was not what I requested, and the stylist even had to go back in with toner on my roots, but I still did not end up with the color I had asked for. On top of that, I did not come in for a haircut. The stylist asked if I wanted one, and I agreed to a very minimal trim. Instead, she cut off significantly more than I wanted. The combination of being charged $80 more than my original quote, not receiving the color I specifically asked for, and having much more hair cut than I requested is extremely frustrating. If I was going to be charged significantly more than I was originally quoted, I at least expected to leave with the result I had clearly communicated that I wanted. My hair also wasn't all one color I have 3 different shades in my hair now. I'm very disappointed with the overall experience and would not have expected this from a professional salon.

I've had a rough road on my braiding journey with my braids not being able to last more than 2 weeks at most due to scalp irritation with multiple stylist in the past. She provided a discount code for the banana fiber hair I wanted to try and had no issues with using this braiding hair. It was truly educational. During my appointment I was able to experience her wealth of knowledge, admiration for her work, and the caring nature she has for her clients. Not to mention the space was top notch! After my appointment, she walked me to my car to make sure that I made there safely. She also checked in with me via text to see how things were going with my scalp. I am so happy to say that I am now 3 weeks out from my appointment with a positive experience and did not need to take my braids out nor have I experienced my scalp burning, bleeding, or itching like my previous experiences.
