I had been eying Lanes work on Instagram and let me tell you she worked her magic and I think I found my new go to stylist. I have dark, thick, curly hair and was in need for a little blonde to be put back into my life, because we all know blondes have more fun. Easy place to find just at the base of the big steps on the UW Tacoma campus on Pacific Ave. Industrial interior. Def not a spa like feel, so there isn't a coziness about it at all. Waiting area is in back of shop instead of front what appears as a bar with hard metal stools with no back support. Maybe its unfinished. Kind of had that feel to it. My back is bad, so I just stood to wait for my appt. No water or beverage service at the bar for patrons, so if you have to be there a while, byod (bring your own drink). It's kind of dark inside. My wax girl came to work here from another place, so I'm trying to follow her. The wax room is dark, but the whole place is dark. *absolutely needs more lighting)* Parking is streetside that you have to pay for. The 3 stars is 1) For me..Im trying to save $ and Im used to free parking and it's also limited 'pay to park' 1 1/2 hours max on the street which isnt exactly cool...especially for long appointments. 2) Too dark inside to be performing hair cuts colors and body waxing beause you can't really check your work properly. *Free parking on Sundays so Ill try getting appt on that day* The girls are super sweet and I intend to go back for a haircut soon just because other reviews were rating this place high. I came here for an updo and my stylist was lovely. She took a lot of time to get my hair just right and in the middle when I made some adjustments, she was totally cool with it. I suggest that you make an appointment by calling because the salon is essentially open when they have appointments. My hair lasted throughout my entire photo shoot, regardless of all the wind. I am blown away by this response. I get being upset as a stylist when someone flakes but this is completely uncalled for. She was cutting hair right out of school out of her house so not like there was salon cost that she has to worry about paying. And it was two years ago. And she just assumed my circumstances at that time were due to me just being a flake. This is so unprofessional. London's itself is such a nice, clean shop. Great atmosphere, nice stylists, and great location. My family and I mainly go for Lexi. She is an amazing stylist. She's patient with my currently young son, great with trying the things my wife comes up with, and most importantly, knows how to make me look good regardless of how much hair is left to work with, (a fair amount now, but it's days are numbered). I'm sure the other stylists are just as good, but I can't speak to their personality, humor, or just generally awesome attention to detail Lexi has. So if you get your haircut by Lexi, tell her I sent you. Being a military family means having to "re-find" all the important things when you get to a new place. I would venture to say that finding a hair stylist that I like has consistently been the most difficult of my regular services to find in each of our locations. I'm so glad I found Lane at London's on the Ave! The shop is super cute, very convenient, and I felt comfortable right away. I was in on a Saturday morning, and due to an impending storm, things were relatively slow. I gave Lane an idea of what I was looking for, some of the things I like and don't like about my more recent color endeavors, and let her create something great. I was really interested in the balayage process, with hopes that it would allow my color to look a little less blunt when it grows out. Lane did a great job on that process, as well as getting the tone for a nice auburn to work with it as well. I also really liked that when she styled my hair, she didn't load it down with product. I don't typically use a lot of product in my hair, and I've had experiences where I want to wash my hair within about 2 hours of leaving the salon because it feels so heavy. Definitely not the case here, and I really appreciate that! I'm a few days into my cut and color, and I'm still loving it! I can stop searching for my stylist here - I found her! read more

Lexi cuts my hair---She is absolutely amazing with shorter hair styles!!! definitely the best haircuts I have ever had. Ashley was my hair stylist. She was nice and easy to talk to. However I am not happy with how my hair turn out AT ALL. I asked her to trim my bang a little shorter and less hair in the middle. These ladies have been winning Best of South Sound since they opened and it is clear why they are the salon of choice. I was transitioning from a salon the I had been going to for 13 years - I was nervous to be honest but I would follow my stylist to another state - she's just that good, but I will come back to her, as I will save the best for last. The Londons team - and you definitely get the sense that they are a team - are awesome. The owner, Keila always comes over if she is there to take a minute to say hello and personalizes the experience. If feels real because she is real and it just makes you feel that much more welcome.
