I found my "Holy Grail" salon and stylist, Amanda at the Teze Salon in Puyallup, WA. If you are in the prosses stage of turning grey, and want more dimension without the awful dark roots, "Grey Blending" is the ticket. If you want someone who is talented and understands what this technique is, you can stop looking now. I have done the research and spent the money for you, so you don't have to. My journey to get to Amanda started here. I have been rehoused to the Seattle area since we lost our home in the Malibu wildfires in 2018. As a result of cleaning out our condo, two months later, my husband and I were both diagnosed with cancer within three weeks of each other. Beginning a very long year of treatment, I had my head shaved. It grew in an ugly mousey grey. I named the color, "Rat Bitch Grey". I began the long search for a stylist who was knowledgeable, specifically in "Grey Blending". Grey blending is a hair coloring "weaving" technique that incorporates some of your existing grey, and adding low and highlight colors, creating a more a more seamless transition to a natural silver look, without the heavy lines of demarcations at the roots of your hair. What I found was that many stylists call grey blending a "color correction" and it's common for stylists to charge an hourly or daily rate for this service. It's not a color correction really. I have had years of using high and lowlights on my blond hair and not charged for a color correction. Color correction means they don't have training experience in grey blending. With so much of the population turning grey, hair stylists will be doing lots of grey blending in the future. Don't be fooled. Then I discovered, Amanda, a stylist at the Teze Salon in Puyallup, WA. I found her on Instagram and wrote to her about my dilemma. Not only did she nail the haircut I wanted, but she also created a stunning, personally unique color and cut, that parallels the services I had as a client at the Sally Hershberger salon in L.A. and NYC, or the three salons in Downtown Seattle that I went to. They all falsely advertised "grey blending services " in their menus too. All BS imho. We are now living seasonally both in Malibu and Seattle, and I seriously might fly back for a few days to get my hair done by Amanda t the Teze again. Then in my way to the rescheduled appointment i called and said I'd be a couple minutes late and they said no problem. I started going here 7 months ago and love it! My specific specialist is Eli and I couldn't be happier. I have long thick hair and each time he makes it look so much better. Then I took the plunger and decided on some color and all I can say is wow!!! I've had numerous compliments within 24 hours. Besides Eli I love the professionalism yet familiarity when you walk in. I've come here a few times and everytime it progressively got worst. Recently I got my hair done at another salon and finally realized it's not me and this is how it should of been to start with. I came in to get my roots touched up and just all over color to just match. The stylist was clearly very fresh which is ok I figured it was an easy job. It took her half hour to figure out how to get started and needed a supervisor to come tell her it's just black hair all over. I really wanted to give her a chance. At checkout they told me my total was $400 which seems insanely expensive for just all over color, easy color, black. And her prices were of stylists who have been in the industry for ages. But the worst part was when I looked in the mirror this is what I was left with, my entire face outline and my ears (in and out) had been stained with hair color and it wouldn't wash off for days. She put so much product on my hair that it felt like straw, it was the most disgusting texture possible, I came home and washed my hair immediately, That's not something I should of done fresh from the salon. Two weeks after getting my hair done my roots were back to grey and showing. I truly don't understand how you have the nerve to charge as much as you do for such a mediocre job. read more

Have been here 3 times. First experience was great. I was impressed with the salon and staff. Great haircut. Subsequent times I felt like they were rushing and not interested in cutting hair. Appointment time was for 45 minutes. Wash and haircut were done in less than 25 minutes. Far from a stellar job. I asked to have 2-3 inches cut off and some layers added. She cut about 1/2 inch and the layering was not obvious. It was apparent my hair dresser had more important things to do than cut hair. She kept leaving and coming back while I was sitting in the chair. Too many hair salons to choose from. Will definitely look for a new one that is interested in quality not quantity. read more

I have had some bad experiences with other salon stylists so I was hesitant to even try again but I'm so relieved and happy that I came to Tezé Salon and that they paired me with Jenny. She listened to what I wanted in a haircut and color and gave me her opinion which I appreciate and asked for. Came in for a simple men's cut. When I saw the way she was holding the trimmer I realized that I was going to be in for a rough ride. Long story short she didn't know how to blend, proportions were off, and overall seemed like she was forced to be there with zero experience. Had to ask for a couple of revisions and then gave up and left. Oh and then they charged me $60 for that. I've gotten my hair cut twice and colored once here. I really wanted to like it because it has a good vibe and nice staff. But I think most of the stylist are either inexperienced or poor communicators. I usually show up early to appointments and almost every time I have been seen late. And not by like 15min, by almost an hour. Instead of apologizing she just blamed the front desk person for not telling her I arrived. When I got my hair colored, I explicitly stated I did not want a golden balayage and that's exactly what I got. I haven't been to a hair salon in a very very long time. My hair was finally long and but it was unhealthy and dying slowly. I made my appointment online and I was so happy to see they could fit me in there schedule so quickly! The gal also recommended a deep conditioning treatment, so I went ahead with that! The stylists are rated in which I was scheduled with Eli, who was a level 3! I didn't want an all over yellow blonde ombré I scheduled a baylage and she gave me an all over yellow toNed blonde, she was an advanced artist and fried my hair and best part of it was her and her coworker stood directly behind me sating that I better not have high expectations because my hair was way to dark to get the color I wanted! she cut my hair didn't ask how I wanted it cut she went and trimmed it for $58 when I got home I noticed it is uneven ! I asked for a half part down the middle with a money piece and she didn't even center that right! I've been going to this salon for almost a year now with only minor hiccups in color that I easily got over. However, my most recent experience is what will keep me from attending this salon ever again. I went in for a trim and color and what I got was a disaster. First, I asked for a brighter copper, as mine was a bit lackluster. What I got is a dark maroon red (see before/after picture). Second, when getting my trim I specifically said I did NOT want layers and I ended up with a ton of them and a significant amount of facial framing - I was mortified. The stylist very willingly fixed my color the next day, which is now an okay color. However, upon lightening my hair, the cut stood out more and it looked like an elementary student cut my hair while I was sleeping (see photos)! I called to ask for a refund because at this point, I didn't want anyone touching my hair to make it worse and was told I would receive a phone call later that day to address the issue. I was contacted by the stylist I used to ask what was wrong and when I sent her a picture, there was a long pause before she replied (although a very nice person, no one could deny this atrocity of a cut). She claimed that she only cleaned up the layers I already had (which isn't true, I had no layers, especially not any indicative of facial framing). I told her that was not true and that I was given a terrible haircut. Upon voicing my opinion, she offered to have her boss fix my cut, which I reluctantly accepted - nothing at this point could make me happy because the damage had already been done. When I got to the salon, the boss was quite cold and indifferent to my concerns and told me it wasn't a bad haircut, but proceeded to spend an hour "fixing it". I don't know about you, but if it wasn't a bad haircut, I don't know why it would need to be fixed for an hour. In addition to that, she kept telling me that the cut looked great on me - which really irritated me - at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, it's about what I feel comfortable and confident in. She said the same thing about my color when I expressed that I still was unhappy with it and it's inconsistency. Needless to say, I left with a refund for my haircut (not my color, which I spent over $200 on) and extremely unhappy. Honestly, if they just owned up to the fact that it was a bad haircut and offered to fix it and some other complimentary services (like fixing my color), I would have been fine. It's the blatant reluctance to own up that leaves a truly bitter taste in my mouth. Oh, and the fact that my hair is literally f*cked. read more

I had to have two adjustments on my foil...should have left it alone or went to a salon where they know what they are doing. After my second adjustment in two days. I "slept" on my results so that I would not be too upset when I called back for another adjustment. I go to Holly. Started going to her when she was at Regis at the South Hill Mall and followed her here. She does great haircuts. I used to have medium length hair and she gave my wavy hair a good shape. About a year ago I wanted a dramatic change and she gave me a super short pixie cut and I loved it. I still am wearing it that way. I have never had color or cosmetic services done here. I do my own color from a box to save money. The reception staff are courteous and efficient. They always offer me tea or coffee when I check in for my appointment. I have green tea. Sometimes Holly is running a bit behind, but I relax with my tea. My ear was sliced, my stylist Sonja didn't know how to dress a wound properly and couldn't find the Styptic Powder to stop the bleeding, and no one checked on me to see if I was ok. My stylist said she would offer me "perc's" (percosets) if she had one (felony distribution). My stylist also referred to the product used on my hair as a "panty dropper" and stated that her lesbian family member calls it that. It was horrific. read more
