O.M.G.! Jarid is a miracle worker. For the first time in the ten years that I have been in Washington, I love my haircut! I've had at least 4-5 trims and cuts that I was not satisfied with. I asked for a specific haircut that was going to take off at least 4" of length. He looked at some pics I brought and gave me honest feedback. My hair is fine, and the haircut (modified bob) was perfect in every way. Suited to my face shape, length and textured perfectly! The atmosphere was pleasant although a little loud which kept me from hearing Jarid speaking at times, but all in all, a beautiful and clean salon. Parking was convenient in the back. Savannah is a genius with extensions! I suffered through four months trying to make them work at Pepper's. I could never get beyond a week without them breaking off. I was told I wouldn't need to have them moved up for 6-8 weeks, the longest I could go was FOUR weeks. Then Pepper's told me they would no longer fix them between move-ups. That prompted me to find someone else. I found Savannah and the difference was obvious immediately. When she moved them up, they felt more secure, didn't cause me any pain, and NO breakage. I just had her move them up today, after more than SIX weeks. Because I'd had so many issues at Pepper's, we decided to do it sooner than later. They still looked great. I am new to the area and made an appointment here for the first time to just get a trim, including my bangs. I came into the appointment with side bangs and explained how long I wanted them and that I wear them to the side because I am in the military. The stylist proceeds to cut my hair and I was not facing the mirror the whole time, which is a foul on my end. She finishes up styling and turns me around to show me what it looks like and I have blunt, straight across bangs. I don't even know how this could have been a miscommunication. I thought I'd be able to re-style them when I got home, but the way the blunt bangs were cut symmetrically across my forehead made it super uneven when I blow dried them to the side The place was cute and the haircut didn't look bad, but it is not what I asked for and now I have to get it fixed. just so I can wear bangs in uniform. read more

Very disappointed. I had an amazing experience at this Salon, referred a family member to this salon because of it. My family member had an issue and was not going to be able to make it for their appointment, when they called to cancel was told that they were going to have to pay the full price of the service that they were scheduled for due to canceling same day. I cannot believe this. The salon told them that this is the policy yet it is not stated any where on their website. The salon went on to state it is due to Covid. The Style Bar Salon is conveniently located off of 3rd St SE, the main Northbound thoroughfare in downtown Puyallup. The location is so convenient that the owners park their vehicles on 3rd St in front of the neighbors' houses instead of in the ample parking lot attached to the business...All the better for the graphic on the back windows of the cars to advertise the salon up ahead. I am the resident of one of these houses across the street. I've respectfully asked that the owners choose not to park in front of my house because I do not have a driveway, so when I come home from work, I end up having to park up the block and carry my things. My request was politely ignored. If you're looking for a Salon that is owned and operated by individuals that care about the community that they've chosen to make their business a part of, I would search elsewhere. Having made an appointment for 10 am on a weekday and receiving a confirmation of acceptance (date & time), I arrived 10 minutes early. The writing on the door of the premises said to wait in your car until the stylist calls. I called in to let them know that I had arrived and the person answering the phone said "Janae will call when she is ready but I haven't seen her yet". Five minutes after 10 I received a call from Kim who said that Janae has called in sick today and doesn't have you on the books, and doesn't know where you came from, we don't have you down with an appointment. Apparently the confirmation of appointment means little to this establishment and if the stylists want more of a fluid schedule they should find another calling. Perhaps they should realize that others work their schedules, meetings and other appointments around this one. I wonder...will I be compensated for my time and gas? read more

EDIT: it seems they fixed their appointment system and I've recently had ZERO issues. I also want to note that the stylists work together to give you what you want. They all will talk to you even if you aren't their client. They create a friendly atmosphere that is great for getting your hair pampered. Nicole is amazing at what she does. She always comes up with the best color to suit my skin tone and can give me the cut I need and want every time. If you need color you MUST see her. I originally gave four stars because I have had a few issues booking appointments through their front desk gal. I'll make an appointment and show up only to find out that I wasn't actually put on the schedule. Or I'll receive a call telling me they double booked my stylist and needed to move me to a date three weeks away. The good news is that when I put up a stink about having my appointment lost/rebooked they were able to get me into another stylist for a wash and trim. read more

I got one of the worst haircuts I have ever had here. My hair is choppy, not layered well and really looks fried on the ends because of the way it was cut. I wanted it a little longer in the front than the back and layered on the bottom few inches with long side bangs. It doesn't lay well. I have never had my hair not look smooth on the ends after a haircut. I had told her I was concerned about chopping into my hair after cutting it because it can go bad if it isn't done right. The front length is really thin and barely there and isn't longer than the back. Meanwhile there is a big, thick ,choppy chunk of hair, all one length that just hangs there a few inches above it on both sides and doesn't blend. The side bangs are shorter than I wanted and don't blend into the hair behind them. The left side is much shorter than the right. It was like she couldn't get it right so she kept cutting and cutting and cutting. I understand that stylists like to texturize, thin hair etc. but she texturized it so much that I have really long hair and then much shorter hair in the layers so it doesn't lay well. I asked not to cut it shorter underneath so it wouldn't curl under. She cut it shorter underneath. Between the razoring, chopping/texturizing it does not style well. The ends are straight across in some places. I had told her I wanted it to look smooth when I straighten it. I have thick hair and know what it can do and the styles I showed the stylist are styles I have had before. I asked her if she felt comfortable cutting it like that and she said she could. Also they told me to be there at a certain time, wait in my car and call to check in when I arrived. I called three times. I knocked on the door. I almost left thinking there wasn't anyone there but decided to call once more and they answered. I was shocked to see the salon was full of people. It was past my appointment time and no one reached out to say they were running late. I have only been to one stylist here but it makes me hesitant to try others. It says in their website some of them keep up on classes so I thought it was a sure bet that I could get a current hairstyle. The good things were the stylist was friendly and the place had a very relaxed vibe. Based on my haircut, I would not recommend this salon. Does anyone know of anyone who can cut short current hairstyles in south king county? I have been to a few people and they struggle to cut popular hairstyles that most salons should know how to cut. It is like they are trying to figure it out as they are cutting. A good stylist should be able to look at a hairstyle and know how to cut the angles, the layers, etc. If they can't, they should let you know. I had a great stylist but she moved. I had gotten home, seen there was a gap between the colors (brown root / blonde highlights ---- It was significant for $205.00). I called the salon and asked if she could touch up this one place. Marnie sat me in her chair and proceeded to tell me that she saw nothing. Keep in mind I spent $205.00 That includes $20.00 tip. A good friend of mine recommended that I see Magi, and I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly because of a cancellation. Magi did everything that I was envisioning for my hair and more! She was friendly, professional, and really attentive to what I wanted for my next style. I ended up with brown hair with some subtle lighter tones added to the ends, similar to a balayage. I just got stood up for the final time with my stylist. I have been a customer for many years and have left and come back 3 times hoping things would change with my stylist. Nope I was wrong ( you would think I would learn my lesson). From the stylist showing up late, running behind, calling in sick at the last minute etc. and now leaving me hanging for an appointment I booked out over 7 weeks ago I think I have learned my lesson. I think customers should start charging for these things for pay for the inconvenience to us. Customer service has not been the priority here with this stylist and that is sad. I will never make another appointment with this Salon. There is a half-down, upfront-fee required to make an eyelash extension appointment. It does go towards end balance. My experience has taught me that this Salon will not change your appointment and will cancel your appointment if you are late. My first appointment, I tried to change the date or time due to unforeseen circumstances. (My brother had a stroke.) When I explained my circumstances to the receptionist the day prior to the appointment, I was told in a rather rude manner, that I could not change date/time. So rather than lose my 100-dollar deposit I ended up asking my daughter go in my place. Total: 200 dollars. Made another appointment, took time off from work only to realize was hour earlier than I thought (my fault). Asked if I could be late 30 minutes late, and was informed I could not. Made another appointment and was told I would charged another 100 dollars. This would Total 300 dollars for full set plus 200 more for my daughters set Totaling 500 dollars. No thank you. Not happy . I would highly not recommend this salon. Their scheduling policies are horrible. Will find another place and will not favorably recommend this salon to family and friends. read more

Let me start off saying that I was stoked I got in same day to see her, and she was something to write home about. We called in to get appointments for a men's haircut and a women's moisture treatment- they were able to fit us both in day of and with appointments in line. Our stylist was Paige and she was quick and skilled in her men's cut and my brother left a happy guy. My moisture treatment was the revival my dry hair needed and she styled it to my liking. My hair is super soft and the cost of the moisture treatment is hard to beat!! I will definitely come back to see Paige. read more
