Very nice shop in a convenient area off of Rt 41 and Washington St. Bob and Margaret are very accommodating and helpful. They run a professional family run business with integrity and skill. My friend has been a long time customer and always had excellent service from them and I am happy to meet them and now have a place I can trust to bring my vehicles for repair. I wish I found them sooner. Bob & Margaret run a great shop in the heart of the northern burbs. I took my car there for some preventative maintenance and put on a couple aftermarket parts. Bob was more than accommodating, and spotted a couple things that I elected to have repaired. Instead of telling me on the phone, he made a point to stay a few minutes late and show me the vehicle while up on a lift. Very happy - Bob has the eye of an Eagle when spotting any potential issues and is straightforward whether you can take care of something now or later. Bonus - The shop also let my dent guy come in and knock a few out while using their shop while the car was waiting for some parts. I called Rauch Auto Care today to see if they would give me an estimate for new brakes on my car. The person who answered the phone immediately began reprimanding me on how they do not give estimates over the phone to "shoppers" and was extremely rude. Before I could even ask if I could bring my vehicle in the man yelled at me so loudly I couldn't understand him and then hung up the phone. This is the worst customer service I have ever received, and I would never give my money to this shop. As someone who doesn't know the average cost of car repairs, of course I want to make sure I'm getting the average cost. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Rauch Auto for almost 10 years now. Every time I visit the shop I am welcomed as a friend, not just a customer. Bob goes out of his way to always do a comprehensive inspection of my car and tells me what needs to be addressed and what to keep an eye on. Other shops will try and sell you every service they can to pad the bill, Bob doesn't. Bob treats your car as if it was his own car, and Bob doesn't pad the bill with any extras. At Rauch Auto you get a level of service and attention to detail that you will not find anywhere else, and you get it all at a very reasonable price. I would take my car to Bob before I would ever think about taking it to the dealership to have work done. I've taken $1500 Audi's to Bob and I've taken $80k Benz's to Bob, and each and every time I visit his shop I get great work at a great price. First off, let me say I'm a BMW fanatic to the Nth degree (some may call me a geek). With that, I am very particular about who works on my cars. When I moved to Chicago 5 years ago, I spent hours researching online for the prominent, independent European repair shops in the area. I found a good one in the city that I used a few times. But when I moved to the northern burbs, I had a harder time finding a shop. Being a BMW CCA member and reading the Windy City chapter newsletter, I came across Rauch Auto Care in Lake Bluff. Since Bob has been for years the onsite mechanic for the BMW CCA events in the area, I knew he was legit. So when my e36 M3 needed a repair that the 15 year BMW Master Mechanic downtown couldn't figure out, I decided to give them a try, and boy, was I impressed. I was immediately greeted by Bob, his wife Margaret, and their dog. Not only was Bob able to quickly diagnose and fix my problem, he also advised me to repair another issue a different way than I originally wanted, just to save me money. These folks have reasonable rates, top notch diagnostic equipment, and will not nickel and dime you. My favorite thing about this shop is that Bob always makes himself available to show you and describe in detail what is going on, and what needs to be repaired. Additionally, if you need a ride or pick-up from the Lake Bluff train station, Margaret will gladly drive you. In my 20 years of getting my BMW serviced across the county, this is by far my favorite shop. I love that this is a small family business, and they genuinely care about their customers. I could go on and on about all of my experiences here, but the bottom line is that I honestly look forward to my next service or repair so I can upgrade parts, hang out with people that I trust and now consider my friends.
