Stay away from this place they take your car and say one price hold your car for a week then call you on a day their shop is closed trying to extort more money by saying stuff like I had to add oil to test drive then tries to haggle for more money before you can get your car back, then if you say thats not right they if you have a problemm how I run my bussiness go somewhere else, well I would but you already held my car for a week and won't give it back unless I pay your bloated diagnostic fee which by the way I already told him.what was wrong with the car originally and what he needed to check so yea if you feel like getting scammed come here read more

Matt the owner totally messed up and I think you should know why. 1. He promised a 5 day turn around on a repair and when he should have started the repair he decided to not until the following day. Which put him behind a hole day i figured this out by driving by and seeing my car sitting there and hasnt moved. I was borrowing a car from a family member. So i was upset. When I stopped in I asked why he didnt ship out the part. He said he was back logged. I walked out frustrated. He called me hours later and told me he wanted to charge me an additional 100.00 for shipping part over night. Now I was getting mad. A quote of 400.00 now is close to 600.00. i told him it wouldnt have been this way if he just shipped the part out monday morning. i said it was unexceptable. stop what you are doing and I will pick the car up later. This was an appointment and I should have been slotted into. it was made 4 days in advance. He has a problem prioritizing his work. He just said he was busy. When I orginally went to pick up the car before scheduling the appointment for repair he gave me a bill of 167.00 and said it took longer then expected to figure out what was needed for the repair. I asked what happened to the 75.00 thing. he said he would deduct 75.00 from the repair bill. Not the 167.00. Not sure how honest that is. I think the bill may have been inflated to appear its a discount. And bring cash because he charges a 4 to 6% for using your debit or credit card. And you will see a misc charge of 4.50 for misc charge.When I asked him what that was for he said for ink, paper, pens, etc. I said that would be the cost of doing business Matt. So bottom line is people. Matt is probably a good menanic but a good business man. I dont think he has a clue how to run a business. Or hes a guy that will nickel and dime you to death. I think he is in over his head. nice building. very clean shop. just needs some smart business attention for sure. and someone who understands customer service and whats expected. NOT RECOMMENDED.... I give credit when credit is due to business. I dont just write bad reviews. If you look up a week ago he recieved a good review from me. He needs someone to run his customer service and billing department like most of them do. The results I found a guy that will have it done in one day buy getting part from GM dealership. And cost only 415.00 out the door. not to mension I will not have to rent a car. They even offered to pick up and drop off. And still a Father and Son business. Matt's very knowledgeable. I have a lifted truck and 3 different mechanics couldn't diagnose the issue. Matt not only appropriately diagnosed the issue, but ensured the resolution was the long-term. He's also very honest. Brought me into the shop to show me everything. He seems a bit high in price initially, but after researching the parts, it's because he's making sure your getting the long term fix and parts that last. I was having all kinds of problems with my car. When I brought it to Matt he was so kind and fixed my steering and suspension (thank god), gave me a new set of brakes, and was even able to get my heat working again. I'm fairly new to the area and, after a bad experience with a first garage, I decided to give Phix Carz a try, since it is close to my house. Matt is the owner/mechanic and does all the work himself. I told Matt what the previous garage had told me about my car (that it needed two new catalytic converters, but that it wouldn't be worth it since the engine was leaking so much oil it was probably shot anyway) and asked him if he thought it would be possible to pass the state emissions test. Matt said he would take a look. After inspecting the car Matt explained that he didn't think the converters were bad and that he thought he could fix all the problems. Without going into all the details, that's what he did. Not only did he repair everything but he took it himself to the emissions test to make sure I passed before I got there to pick it up, and I'm far from a cute girl. Phix Carz is the place to go for automotive repair in the lake county area. The head mechanic, Matt, is very professional, honest, and passionate about his work. He cares about the well being of his customers and will go the extra mile to meet their satisfaction. An example of that is when Matt worked on my 2008 Volkswagen Jetta. The car was misfiring and losing power. Matt diagnosed the car quickly and determined that one of the ignition coils was bad. He replaced the coil and spark plugs but the problem came back a few weeks later. Matt then replaced all of the coils which fixed the problem!
