Small bbq dive in dexter connected to the animal house bar. Legit bbq shack style, white bread, butcher paper, meat, 8 bbq sauces and sides. Ribs were solid in flavor with a good smoke ring. Wish they would have cut them for me on my to go order. Rub had great flavor and tender. Brisket was pretty good, got a couple really fatty pieces which im not huge on but others may like. Pulled pork was my favorite, good smoke flavor, like it with the vingar base. Mac and cheese needed more cheese. Top was covered with cheese but after that it tasted like noodles and milk. Prices were very reasonable here. You can eat for under 10 dollars a head. This place has serious potential to be the best bbq food in the greater eugene area. It's really not far off. This place is legit! I grew up in the Texas Panhandle, the land of amazing BBQ, and this ranks right up there with Texas' best! I have grown up around Dexter/Lowell most of my life and I have to say I am so happy that Rattlesnake is here. It is nice to be able to have affordable and delicious BBQ. Keep in mind that this restaurant is not your typical fancy place. You order at the register and the food comes on trays and paper bowls. It is small but in my opinion smaller, local places are the best :) The staff and owners Dustin and Crystal are so welcoming and nice and the food is always delicious and consistent. My husband and I go here any chance we can for date night since we started dating. We loved it so much we even had Rattlesnake cater our wedding. All our wedding guests were pleased. The food was never cold and the ladies set up in time and we didn't have any issues. For our wedding we had the chicken quarters and NW brisket with coleslaw and the potato salad. You can never go wrong with the potato salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly and not dry, it was actually my first time having the chicken. Our favorite is the NW Spicy brisket with Snake Bite sauce. We order it every time along with potato salad and now the new cucumber and tomato salad, which is a nice refreshing side. Rattlesnake has a lot of options now on their menu such as appetizers, salads and sandwiches. They also have the Dexter Lake Club bar on the other side if you want to enjoy a drink or some karaoke on Thursdays. This restaurant has been very successful and I recommend giving it a try. Even if you are in Eugene you should take a drive to Dexter, enjoy the view of the lake and enjoy BBQ, that in my opinion is way better than Hole in Wall. read more

Holy cow, we just went back for the second time and decided to take down the sampler platter, that was way more food than I expected. But that should say something that we literally wanted to try everything on the menu to see what we like the best, but I walked away just knowing that everything I could order here would be something that I liked. The place reminded me of my mom's restaurant in Southern California. Our server had a great attitude, excellent recommendations on food choices and the food was great. Delicious BBQ and sides. I brought out of town relatives here after hiking at Elijah Bristow State Park. We ordered the platter with every BBQ protein. It comes with 2 sides and we ordered 2 more sides. It was plenty for five adults. About $40 plus our drinks. We ate family style in the casual atmosphere and had a great time! The food is excellent and the service is pretty good. The barbecue sauces are tasty and work well with the meats. The sides could use some of the same TLC that the meats get, but let's face it we go to barbecue for the meat. I'm not sure I can add anything to what already has been said about this great BBQ joint. We went there recently to celebrate having my braces removed. As it turned out, I wouldn't have had to wait for that, since the baby back ribs were so tender that chewing was barely required. And the sauce choices were some fun, especially for a Meg Ryan type like myself; I'm big on "on the side" options. Wish I'd had room for dessert. My only complaint was that a football game was on the TV and I found it a little loud, especially the commercials. That's just me, though. read more

Wow, what a nice surprise to find that the old Dexter Lake Club, which had closed a while ago, has been bought by a local longtime Dexter family! Upon stepping out of your vehicle, you can smell the wonderful scent of BBQ... Their Smoker is on 24/7 except for one day a month when it is shut down for cleaning... If you are not hungry for BBQ, they offer hamburgers, fries, tater tots or several kinds of sandwiches.. Also, on Tuesday's, they offer Taco's at a great price.. My family really enjoyed the hamburger which was perfectly cooked and the smoked turkey and the club sandwiches.. I am definitely going to be a regular customer.. I'm hooked on their food as well as the customer service... If you enjoy country music, I believe it is on the weekends that they have different bands playing.... One more suggestion... Every Friday is Prime Rib night..it's pulled from the smoker around 5:30-5:45 pm and served until it's gone, so the earlier you get there, the better! read more

We were on our way back to Reno from a race in Washington and stopped here on a whim. The minute we got out of the car we knew we'd made a good decision. The smell alone was worth the stop. Our group of 5 had both briskets (spicy and regular), the baby back ribs, the baby back rib sandwich, fresh cut fries, mac&cheese, and potato mac. Everything was wonderful and the young woman was very personable and efficient. Her brother running the kitchen also was quite good.
