I have mostly positive impressions, I was surprised with a free unexpected upgrade on my birthday, and reception staff has generally been friendly and competent with a couple of exceptions. I don't care for the fact that individual tans you buy expire after one year. Also on my initial visit to this business I was extremely clear about what I was seeking, conveyed this to the rep, but she was relentless in telling me I needed an unlimited monthly membership I didn't want. I left that day repocketing the hundreds of dollars I had every intent of handling over. I returned for the beds and hours. I didn't use 1/3 of the tans I bought the first year, so asked reception if they could work with me on a new package or if I could speak with management. She referred me to email management, but stated it was policy that no name could be given to me for whom I would be working with. I've corresponded with "management" and still have never received a name of the manager I've dealt with though I asked for it, but they asked me for my name and DOB. "Management" did, however, credit me the tans for this year which I appreciate. Today a bed bulb and one of the four facial bulbs was out on the bed I was assigned. The receptionist when I exited expressed they'd had a technician working on it, so a known issue. I asked for an upgrade to be put on my account for the uneven tan, and she was hesitant. I decided instead to email "management" to request personally. "Management" advised me that beds do have issues especially during the busy season, but did provide the credit. I feel it's pretty obvious to state to me that issues can occur, an apology would have been better received. I've never had to wait for a bed no matter when I've come. All things considered, I would definitely recommend this Albany Tan Republic for the generally consistent quality service and product provided.

Best salon and staff in Albany! Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Affordable luxurious product…read moreand services! I've only ever met happy and satisfied clients leaving the salon. Make sure to grab lunch from Oregon Homegrown while you're there :)

It takes a lot for me to write a negative review on a local business, but unfortunately I feel that…read morethe service I received was so poor that it is necessary. I first went to the salon with a picture of what I would like - a light balayage on my short hair. The hairdresser told me that it would take a couple sessions to get the color I wanted and I agreed. My first session was around $150. I was concerned with the small amount of hair that was actually lightened, only light on the top layer of my hair - not the full balayage I had asked for, but assumed she knew what she was doing. At my second appointment, I asked for a trim as well. Firstly, she told me she didn't want to do a trim that day, but rather at my next appointment. It felt uncomfortable to argue, so I agreed. When she took the foils out of my hair, I told her that I didn't see any difference, and that this wasn't the same as what I had asked for. She told me it would lighten up within a couple of days. My hair didn't lighten, and I was extremely frustrated that I had just paid another $100 for essentially nothing. All of my coworkers asked me why I hadn't gone to my hair appointment, since they couldn't see any difference whatsoever. I called the salon and explained my dilemma. I told them that I wasn't comfortable having the same person fix my hair, as she hadn't done my hair as I'd asked on two occasions. The receptionist told me she understood and that she would speak with the owner. Soon after, the same hairdresser who had done my hair texted me that she would be happy to do my hair after hours free of charge, and that all I should have done was to have asked her. So uncomfortable, but I agreed. I gave her a list of days I was available, and she responded that none of those dates would work. I said I would be free the week after the following, and she never responded. A month later, I called the salon AGAIN, and explained what had happened. They told me a refund was not an option, as I hadn't told her I was unsatisfied with my hair until after the fact (which was not the case). Though I clarified this, they called me back several days later and told me that they could have someone else fix my hair that Thursday at 12pm. I put it in my calendar. Though I didn't feel comfortable even going to the salon at this point, I agreed. I showed up at 12pm on Thursday, and they told me that my appointment was the following week. This was hands down the worst, most unprofessional salon experience I have ever had. I wasted $250, and now am in search of another salon so I can pay to have my hair done how I had asked 3 months ago.
