She required that I pay upfront the day i made the appt the full amount, ok no problem, but then showed up for our appt an hour late, to my home. When she arrived she apologized stating she was running late bc a client took longer than expected, although I was confused bc she had stated earlier that day that she only takes one client a day to make sure everything is sanitary. (Convo photo below) I offered her water or something to drink she asked for chicken wings which i thought was odd but moved on. I also asked her in person whether she was allergic to cats or have any issues w my cats as I have several. She said no. Here is when things get weird, she starts doing my lashes and while my eyes were taped and closed she disclosed that she had taken an edible earlier. So that explains the chicken wings and showing up late. She continued the session getting glue on my lower lashes - repeatedly which was pretty painful to separate. And the finished product was lopsided. One eye was cat shaped and the other more full in the middle. Also they began shedding although i didnt get them wet for 48 hours. This job was done july 8th, by july 12th 4 days later 30% of the lashes were gone and by july 16th 8 days later one eye has about 3 lashes on and the other is about 70% gone. Of course when i reached out to Charlie the lashes fell out bc my cats were biting her toes (but she didnt say anything) and my lashes fell out bc my appt was damp (despite the lash application being done in my room with the A/C on high) and it was unsanitary to do lashes in an apt w my cats (that were allegedly all over her despite her saying literally nothing...) And finally once i brought this to her attention - she offered to give me a refund or redo them to which i declined the latter and said that she'll issue refund in a couple days bc shes moving (not really a clients problem) that was on monday july 13th and as i write this review its july 17th of course theres no refund. Wildly unprofessional, poor service, and oddly vocal about requesting chicken wings but not about getting "bitten" by my cats... musta been a great edible.

The spa informed me that I would be a good candidate for the procedure based on my skin and skin regimen, and I decided to buy the Gilt City package. After the consultation and before the IPL, I was instructed to stop retin-a and other actives, which I followed precisely. Right after the session, I saw a darkening of my forehead, which got a little worse. Worried, I chatted with the therapist, who informed me that I should wait for four weeks. Fast forward through four weeks of a darkened and splotchy forehead, which foundation would not cover up, I went into the spa to speak with the doctor. Seeing my skin and after a few minutes of discussion, the doctor said he would refund my treatment. I was beyond happy about this, because even though it was a Gilt City, it was still a large expense where I wasn't happy with the results. I return to the reception area, where I am informed that I actually cannot get a refund because I bought the deal through a Gilt City. They pushed back at my request and told me that Gilt City takes 60% of the cost, and therefore I cannot be refunded any money (despite what the doctor had stated). Instead they said that my few minutes with the doctor was enough compensation for the adverse effects of the treatment. The doctor prescribed retin-a, which I have no need for because I was already using it before IPL. I left disappointed in how I was treated, broken down, and weary. I walked away saying that I did not see the point of arguing if they did try to understand where I, the customer, was coming from. If I wasn't a good candidate for IPL because of using retin-a, I should have been informed this. I am skincare fanatic and was very happy to find a spa right in my neighborhood, where I could develop a relationship with knowledgeable staff and improve my skincare needs. Unfortunately, this simple problem should have been handled with more respect and good customer service. My advice: save your money if you're considering a Gilt City deal. I should've just stuck with my retin-a and regular skincare regimen.
